Chap 24: Liana VS. Roman Kilian

*** Liana’s POV ***

Eventually, the second session of the last entrance test had begun and I would be also the first one who revealed in front of the crowd and showed my performance.

In order of the easiest movement on the battlefield, I just chose for myself a casual white dress that Saeza designed exclusively for a weredragon like me. Talking about it, it had a feature that could disappear once I transform into dragon and the dress’s aura fragment would regather as I turned back to human form. This is very convenient gadget and Saeza’s gift before my departure to this kingdom.

Aye… I’m so embarrassed… Everyone was looking at me while my barefoot gently walked into the arena battlefield. Different than the first session, this arena was so far bigger since this is the special stage for the noble contestants and the weredragons. From afar, my Aura Sensibility ability alerted me that Frank was sitting somewhere at the audience seats. So, he was also watching me too. I looked at him and waved my hand and smiled at Frank. But… I didn’t understand why, that act of mine earlier even excited the crowd more. Aye, did I do something wrong?

And as I thought, I couldn’t see Galen anywhere among the audience. He was chosen as one of 150 contestants and be sure to enter the academy. So the crowd of people who were watching me fighting was the civilians of the capital or the ones who got failed at the first session of the test. I encouraged myself, even I – who had to pass harder challenge should try my best too!

Then, I could hear the discussion from the crowd.

“She is so beautiful and fragile.”

“She is going to fight without equipping any armor and weapon? As expected from the powerful yet graceful of a female weredragon…”

My face turned as red as a tomato. Aye… I wished if I could dig a hole to put my face in there.

I stopped my footstep at the middle of the arena. My heart kept racing, being nervous when waiting for who would be my opponent among the 150 contestants who passed the first session of the Duel test.

The giant double gates opened in front of with explosive heavy noise, showed in front of me a darkness that made me unable to see anything.

I tried to use my Aura Sensibility ability again. And the upcoming fact that gave me a chill to the spine…

That aura wasn’t from Galen, so thanks Goddess that I wouldn’t fight him, but, there was a problem.

My upcoming opponent was having terrifyingly powerful aura energy that urged me to speak myself if it was possible to have this such powerful human being existing in this world?!

And when that person showed up his face out from the darkness of the entrance, his face even surprised me more.

He had a high yet thin body shape. However, when I observed his young face, I bet he might be around 15 or 16 years old like Galen and me. Our eyes contacted each other as if he was trying to discover my inner side with the warm pink-colored… yet very cold glance. That guy was wearing a light green coat, covered his elegant suit in white color made by a type of expensive silk material. At his waist, I could see he was equipping a rapier at his left hand.

So he was left-handed, I wondered.

However, there was another detail I noticed…

…he has cat ears and a cat tail too! Aye… look at them! They are so fluffy and kept wagging as the noise of the crowd went louder after his appearance. I wasn’t gonna lie, I wanted to rub his ears so bad if I could!!

“You are done staring at me?”

Hearing his voice, I realized that I had almost forgotten where I currently was.

“Aye, sorry! Sorry!!” I panicked answered. This is the duel between a failed student and a successful student to enter the academy so I want to be as friendly with him as possible, since looking at his handsome face, I didn’t want him to hate me as well “It’s nice to meet you. My name is Alice Valentine, how about you? What’s your name?”

“My name is Roman Kilian. It’s my pleasure to have a chance to duel with a beautiful lady like you too, miss Valentine.”

Suddenly, the crowd went crazy as that guy mentioned his name. Even I also realized who he was… Roman Kilian and Rosalyn Kilian… those two persons were siblings of each other!! And that guy got the same Rank 1 with me in the Aura testing result!!

Why is he here?! Wasn’t he supposed to not be matched with me since he might be noble as well??!!!

“From professor Kilian, I have got have an adjustment for our case. They want us to fight each other.” Roman responded with a cold voice tone “Since we both got Rank 2 in IQ test, Rank 1 in Aura test, they wanted an eventual result where who could get the who had a better overall result since there is no way to have two contestants getting in the same rank in both tests. Do you know? Without my negotiation with the council, you and I almost got caught that we were creating together.”

I see, this is understandable since Rank S students needed to result with the most accurate score possible.

In this case, this is the duel between the champions. The best of the best contestants, between Roman and me.

I felt so excited now!!

“Aye, I understand. Let’s do it, Roman Kilian!!”

“I never thought a fragile lady like you could be so combative as well.”

Roman showed a smile to me. He slowly drew his rapier, pointed to me. Around him, his magic aura of his had been activated, creating a beautiful sanctuary of wind element magic him.

Meanwhile, at my side, I unleashed my inner fire magic from my body, ready to confront him.

That was how I – Liana a weredragon would be going to fight against the elite contestant of Mothien Kingdom – Roman Kilian.

“The first match, between Alice Valentine and Roman Kilian…

…begin!!”

Bizarrely, even after the announcement, both Liana and Roman didn’t have any action to fight. Despite they were in the fighting stance, they were kept standing still and staring at each other.

No one of them began the combat first. Everything had been dived into the endless silence and the crowd was watching at them and didn’t dare to breathe.

As if they understood each other, they were surprised when witnessing a weird situation: Liana and Roman then relaxed. They slowly walked toward each other, without any defensive thing with them! Liana’s beautiful hair flew by Roman’s wind as she came closer to his sanctuary. On the other side, Roman lowered his rapier down and walked to Liana too.

“What the hell are you doing… Liana?” Frank mumbled. Even Galen, who was standing at the stage for 150 contestants was thinking the same when he was observing Liana from the waiting room.

Until, they were distanced by 3 meters…

2 meters…

1 meter…

…

BOOMMMM!!!!

“Ahh!!!!” The crowd screamed as they just witnessed a jump-scaring explosion at the middle of the arena. It was like Liana and Roman were having a chemical reaction, caused the eruption of the arena floor made by stone and even shook the entire audience seat.

Frank was shocked when they saw that explosion earlier. What just happened?! He wondered.

However, at Galen’s side, unlike other people who panicked and were confused, he just stood there, looked at Liana with a confident smile. Yes, it was one of the skills of hers in human form: Tier 4 Magic Spell – Ignited Eruption. With the bloodline of the dragon who was at Tier 5 since their birth, there would be no problem for Liana to learn Tier 4 magic in human form. Compared to Galen who just could use Tier 2 Magic Spell currently, he even doubted that he could win her.

He was sure that Liana had gone too exaggerated now, that Roman guy would be blown away with just that one shot.

But… Galen knit his eyebrows when something not right happened afterward.

Roman was still standing steadily after getting hit from that Ignite Eruption of Liana! The Wind Sanctuary had protected him perfectly, helped him not receive any damage!!

“WOOOHH!!” The crowd cheered for Roman non-stop.

“Hahaha… HAHAHA!! My lady, you’ve excited me now!!” Roman laughed like crazy. Then, he elegantly said while bowing down like a prince “That was impressive when a newcomer like you could cast Tier 4 magic spell. Without you entering this academy, that would be a waste of talent for our kingdom.”

“Aye, thank you for your compliment. You are so good too actually.” Liana wiped the blood leaked from her mouth.

“Since I have witnessed your true power, how about… let’s entertain our audience a little bit?” Roman suggested “Show me everything you have, my lady. Even if you turn into dragon, I’m sure I won’t lose you.”

Liana felt like she had been triggered when hearing him saying that…

“Come on… Liana.” Galen mumbled when observing her “Remember when we were in the training day, Liana. Control yourself, don’t let your enemy trigger you please…”

This is not good, Galen could see her long smooth hair from pink color slowly changed to a shiny red one. Her odd-eye colors had synchronized into one color: Red, as if Liana was burning herself and turned her into a living lava. On her back, a pair of wings appeared and highlighted the arena.

ROAR!!! A cry of the dragon echoed originated from her. The crowd started to step back as they could feel the heat spread from her body hotter and hotter. The stone arena where Liana was standing was heated to the point that it had become a giant pan.

“Oh no, Liana. What’s happening to her?!” Frank panicked.

This form… Galen understood, Liana had changed into a semi-dragon.

“Hah… hah… Aye.” Liana – the girl in the fire with giant dragon wings breathed heavily after trying hard to control her emotion. Normally, she wouldn’t be weirdly transformed like this. It was the consequence of the successful control from her draconic rage from her dragon’s bloodline. It turned out that she turned into this terrifying semi-dragon like that. “My apology, Mr.Kilian. I have to let you see my weird look right now…”

However, unexpected from what Liana thought, Roman’s reaction was…

“WOW! You are so cool!!!!” Roman sparkled his eyes “This is my childhood dream to see a semi-dragon like this!!!”

What?

Galen, Liana, and Frank were confused.

He literally was similar to his sister Rosalyn, they both were so weird!! Galen face-palmed, while Liana and Frank were speechless after realizing that.

“My lady, how about this?” Roman suggested, “I’ll admit that you win if you can break this sanctuary of mine.”

“Aye, do not underestimate me, you brat!!!”

“LIANA, CALM DOWN PLEASE!!”

It was so hard to Liana to control her emotion earlier. Galen bit his lips when realizing she started to lose her control again, rushed to Roman and rampaged attacking him.

After consecutive attacks, her iris went blank and she slowly lost her humanity. She used her dragon claws to hit on Roman’s sanctuary, without letting Roman have a chance to counterattack.

At this moment, Roman realized that he had accidentally provoked a tremendous monster…

…when he saw that his sanctuary got a cracking sound…

CRACK! Roman’s sanctuary was broken, in front of the shocked faces of the audiences.

“Kyaa!!!” The crowd screamed in fear when Liana’s semi dragon body burnt in lava jumped to him, going to finish his life…

There is no choice! Galen had to intervene to stop her!!
