*** Galen’s POV ***
My body went frozen, unable to move and my heart stopped beating after hearing a stranger’s voice. Since when… since when have we been monitored and be burst so easily like that? I remember I have chosen a very dark and hidden place to talk about this sensitive topic with Liana…?
My instinct was clearly warning me, because there was no doubt… that girl standing behind Liana and me… the amount of her aura energy was so high, so overwhelming as if she was threatening us. Even with my current power, I’m afraid that there’s no way I can win against her.
The only way that I could think about…
…run!
“Guys, run!!”
I grabbed Frank, while my other hand held Liana’s and we rushed out of the library.
“Galen, climb on my back!”
In the middle of the crowd, we wouldn’t have any space to run and escape. Behind me, a flash of light shined bright in the middle of the capital, caught the attention of the surrounding people around. They were terrified, yet some of them showed their happy smile when Liana transformed herself into dragon form. She roared an explosive cry, the flame ignited her body, spread the heat and pushed back the crowd.
Without hesitation, I took out the dragon riddle from my bag and immediately climbed on her back with Frank. In an instant, Liana dragged me to the sky, merged with the crowd of the dragons flying above the civilization area.
*** Liana’s POV ***
“Aye… have we escaped her?”
“I think yes, there is no way she would have gone so far and caught up with us.”
Hah… hah… I panicked that I didn’t know how long and which direction I have flown.
Hiding behind a huge building between the alleys, I kept painting after exhausting myself transforming into dragon and helping everyone get out of that stranger girl’s sight. Even until now, I’m still shivering when remembering that creepy voice echoing right behind Galen and me, as if that little girl was a snake trying to sneak and ambush us.
“Liana, I’m sorry for troubling you.”
“It’s ok, Galen. This is also our only way as well so I don’t mind.”
This was the first time I have burst out of aura energy so fast that it seemed my body had been overloaded. Ah… I can’t help myself anymore. I slowly felt my body is losing control, my legs were trembling as I was weakened due to the side effect of aura exhaustion…
I thought that I was about to collapse on the ground. But there was a hand of someone who held me back… It was Galen, he lifted me up, suddenly carried me like a princess in front of my shocked eyes.
“Aye? Aye aye aye!! Galen, you…” I was embarrassed that I could not say anything.
“Don’t worry, Liana. Told you, I’m not like the Galen one year ago who always stood behind you hahaha.”
Galen seemed to be so insensitive. But did he know that for a girl like me, this is like a sign that I have been sincerely protected by him? Also, to a prideful species like me – a weredragon, being carried like this brought me the embarrassment, yet a new feeling to me.
I leaned my face on Galen’s chest. I could even hear his heart, beating so strongly as if it was giving me a feeling that I can trust this man who was carrying me…
I then got jump-scared when his body startled me.
“You are forgetting me, Galen.” It was Frank.
“So you wanna be carried by me too? Like how I used to do with you before? Hahaha!”
“No thanks, I can fly with you instead. Also, it’s better if I don’t intervene you two.”
“Why intervene?” Galen asked “You are my friend of course. So, it’s ok, you can lay on Liana, I will carry both!”
“Stupid Galen…”
Frank facepalmed when realizing how innocent Galen is. But in my point of view, I could see Galen trying to avoid Frank’s sight. Look at his face, don’t tell me… he is blushing? He is currently so adorable that my heart just skipped a beat.

Galen was princess-carrying Liana, walking through the alley until they found out their way had been blocked by a group of people. Galen rose his caution and stepped back, he didn’t see any friendly purpose in their eyes since they were wearing a red coat with a huge dragon necklace. He believed that they were the worshippers of the religion of this kingdom, or they had any relation with the royal cathedral of the country’s capital?
“We are the members of the Saganite.” One of them spoke. His skinny finger got revealed from the long sleeve and pointed to Galen “You, human! You are under our capture for k********g the child of Sephylim!!”
Wait, what?! What just happened, Galen thought. Many of the men in the coat listened to their leader and began attacking Galen. He believed that he couldn’t avoid this trouble anymore. If that…
…Galen put Liana down at the corner of the alley and prepared the wooden knives being hidden under his coat.
“Hey, Galen!” Frank panicked when seeing Galen approaching them. “Are you going to fight?!”
“Yeah. But please don’t worry, it will just take me less than five seconds to finish this mess.” Galen nodded his head “Frank, please help me take care of Liana.”
Everything that happened afterward stunned not only Frank and Liana, but also the worshippers of the Saganite side that they didn’t have the time to react. Galen had enhanced his speed by his boosting magic spell, rushed to them like a predator eagle to the prey.
5 seconds…
The group of worshippers panicked when they only could see a shadow just rushed through them and left without any trace. As if to them, the time had been stopped to let their enemy freely act as his wish.
3 seconds…
They found something dropped around their foot. Did they look like… wood? But why there is many pieces of wood being spread on the ground?
1 second…
“Resurrection!”
The vines from the wooden knives grew up and fastened anyone who is within the area of effect of those wooden knives. They went panicked, tried to get out. But the more they suffered, the more tightly the vines attached to them.
It ended up the noise of people swearing and lying on the ground. They were tied by Galen’s vines and unable to move anymore.
“Wow! Amazing, Galen!!” Frank screamed.
“Frank, let’s get out of here!!”
Galen lifted Liana up, carried her on his back and tried to run away as fast as possible. He was afraid the voice of those troublemakers would catch the attention of the people outside the alley so he had to leave the scene with his best.
Luckily, it was the daytime so Galen could see clearly the way to run inside the dark alleys. Frank and he kept running, swiftly changing from the alley to another one. They needed to rush as deepest as possible and wait until the nighttime.
But, an unexpected event happened afterward that shocked Galen that stunned his body for a few seconds.
In front of his eyes, there was an image of a little girl, standing alone in front of Galen, Liana and Frank like she had waiting for them to come here and ambushed them. Although she was a little girl having the height reaching to Galen’s abdomen only, she was wearing a weird gothic style dress and hat for adults, look not suitable with her current age. Her cyan-colored hair being braid at two sides were slightly floating due to the effect of her overwhelming aura energy that she was concentrating to threaten Galen, giving him a pressure that weakened his will to battle. Galen also noticed… was it because of the suppression of her aura energy that caused him hallucination or not, but he could even see a pair of cat ears on her hair and the cyan tail slowly waggling each of her footsteps. Is she a half-beast race? He wondered.
However, Galen changed his attention immediately to her cat eyes. They were sparkling a warm red-colored light as if trying to hypnotize him. He got startled and stepped backward, he must not look at her eyes, because he realized that her eyes had a charming magical effect!!
By listening to her voice, Galen couldn’t believe… she was the one who found out Galen’s secret earlier at the library. How could she know him hiding here?!
“Our hide-and-seek game is over, kids. Surrender now.”
With such over-powerful aura energy flying around her, Galen couldn’t estimate how strong she was. Cannot escape, cannot resist, he had no other choice than surrender.
This girl… her power was at another level!
Seeing Galen’s nervous face, the little girl smiled.
“Hehe, don’t be scared.”
The sound of her heels knocking on the stone ground clanked at each of her footsteps. She slowly approached Galen by flying to him closer and closer. With her black-colored umbrella, she pointed its top to Galen’s chin and lifted his face up, so his eyes could directly be contacted with hers.
“I have witnessed everything and am very impressed by how you dealt with those annoying worshippers, meow hehe.” The little girl smiled “Can I know your name?”
“…Gerald Barrister.”
Liana was still on his back so he had to not let himself make any mistake. It would be better if he followed what she wanted first.
“Gerald… means the ruler of the spear, what a nice name you have here.” Of course, it wasn’t his real name “But too bad, a young guy like you will be going to become the most wanted criminal of the kingdom if I spread what I heard from you outside the public.”
Yes, no doubt… It was her who eavesdropped Liana and him!
But there was something he didn’t understand…
“You could have reported my crime in front of the public already. But you didn’t do it, it means you are after me for something else?” Galen asked.
“Yes! I love that smart kid like you, meow hehe!!!” The little girl showed her sharp fangs, which were particular for cat species “You are right, I come here with a request from you. I won’t report your crime to our Highness, but trading back, you have to do for me one thing.”
“One thing?”
Seeing the little girl didn’t have any bad purpose to Galen, he could relieve himself a little.
The girl slowly lowered herself down, until a clanking sound echoed right after her heels touched on the ground. She elegantly greeted Galen like a princess and introduced herself.
“My name is Rosalyn Killian, a hybrid between half-beast and succubus.”
Succubus… From what Galen knew, along with vampires, they were a super rare race that had been extinct a long time ago. It explained why he felt her eyes scarily seducing to him.
“As one of the S-rank professors, I would like to honorably invite a gifted child like you…
