Chap 18: Mothien Kingdom

***Liana’s POV***

As we have known so far, Tenica Continent if looked from up above it would look like a crescent moon and Mothien Kingdom would locate on the southern side of that land. Frelanna Island – which is located at the center of The Sacred Ocean at the Eastern side of that land was where we and Saeza had been living on.

That’s why in order to reach Mothien Island from Frelanna Island, we had to fly through the sea of the Sacred Ocean, directed to the South West at seven o’clock. Galen on my back was helping me guide the flying direction thanks to the compass that Saeza had carefully prepared for us.

Currently, Galen and I had been flying for two hours. The weather is very ideal and clear to see the sea sparkling just beneath us, it lasted until the horizon. On the Eastern side, the sun was slowly rising up and warming us from the cold of high altitude. It also gave us a better vision in order to determine where our destination would be.

Getting got experience from the encounter of Sabatoruses and keeping safe for the whole team, Galen and I decided to fly beneath the layer of the cloud as closest as possible, in order to avoid their aim.

“Those types of dragons usually fly above the cloud layer, so we will hide under the cloud to avoid encountering them.”

Galen told me like that. Totally different than one year ago, he has so experienced at almost everything thanks to Saeza’s books. That’s why I trust most of his decision and follow him.

Roar! Aye… we could hear the roaring sound of the dragons up above us. But the sound had gone so far from us until we couldn’t hear them anymore. That was a very nice strategy! Since we fly under the cloud from the start, they wouldn’t notice us.

“Oh, you are right, Galen. They don’t see us anymore.”  

And that was how we flew to Mothien Kingdom with the smooth journey.

*** Galen’s POV ***

It’s currently seven o’clock in the morning, and the sunlight had already shined and warmed my skin, so I took of my scarf and enjoyed the fresh air that we haven’t experienced through one year at Frelanna Island.

Deep inside my heart, there is an undescribed feeling. I feel nervous if I’d be successful at completing this first mission or not. But the excitement is currently burning my enthusiasm at the same time. This is going to be my first time visiting Mothien Kingdom despite I have known and heard about it a lot in the past, since my timeline as the prince of Tredia…

Actually, speaking of which, I remember that Mothien Kingdom now because I have noticed something very strange in that country. Four years ago… there was a time where King Anderton and I have a trip to negotiate them about making an alliance in order to prevent the upcoming conflict between us in the future. However, they refused us and left us only the confusion and curiosity.

Mothien Kingdom was the only country that doesn’t have any international commercial and communication with outside, it was like they were shutting themselves and hiding something from us. Now thanks to Saeza, I have got the reason. Most possibly… it was because of The Core of Iresthea? Such an over-powerful item like this, it’s not surprising if they are protecting it at any cost.

Eventually, my thought had been gone when the scenery of the land appeared in front of my eyes. And Frank and I were like…

“Wow!”

“Wow!!! Is that Mothien Kingdom?!”

We have reached the seaside of Mothien Kingdom. And some of the dragons flying around us in the air. Strangely, unlike other dragons in the wild, they didn’t attack us and are so calm. As if there was someone who had well trained them so they would have that behavior.

The trauma of the dragon’s assault one year ago still haunted me, that it took me a few seconds to calm my heartbeat. Inside my head, there was full of confusion: What the hell is just happening? One year being isolated from the world at Frelanna Island, something just happened to that prideful, aggressive creature to the point that they are like a domestic dragon now?!

“Aye I know you will be surprised, Galen.” Liana spoke in my mind “But it is what it is, Mothien Kingdom is the only country where dragons are docile and they are ready to collaborate with humans. You will never see this at other countries.”

This kingdom urged me to be curious more now.

“Hey, Liana.” I asked her by rubbing her nape “You said Mothien is where you visit most often, do you understand how those dragons are trained so well like this?”

If I can get the answer. I will surely use it in order to train the dragons and stop their attack to humanity!

“I don’t know, Galen. Within Mothien territory, I just could lurk around the province area and couldn’t enter the capital area to gather the information.” Liana answered me “In order to enter the capital area, we need Mothien’s Pass, which uncle Saeza just gave for us.”

Maybe because the royal members of that kingdom would like to make sure the security about the Core of Iresthea within the capital area? I thought. It could be a possible idea too.

In this case, besides resurrecting Iresthea, I would like to do another objective before leaving Mothien Kingdom: I’ll find out how they train the dragons, at any cost.

Liana and Galen had arrived at the capital, which was a huge civilization are. Galen was impressed, unlike Tredia, Mothien was being protected by the fortress wall as high as it could reach to the sky. Nothing could pass by it except the dragons and the birds flying passing by, and they are all within the national defense guard’s vision so there would be no way that someone could pass it easily.  

Also, the area of the fortress was very large. Inside the capital, there was even enough space of greenery for agriculture and multi-domains factories. Galen was fascinated by the kingdom’s area, which might make a person a week to go the entire of the fortress diameter by horse-drawn vehicle.

Far from them, highlighted a giant building with the sparkling dome at the top looking like a diamond at the most western side of the capital. I bet this is the kingdom’s palace… If Galen compared with Tredia Kingdom, this one is so far bigger and more luxurious to another level. A fear slowly accelerated inside his heart, if Mothien Kingdom was going to launch a war, he was afraid Tredia Kingdom would never have a chance to win.

However, it was just what Galen could see from up above. Of course, before entering the capital area, Galen and Liana had to pass the immigration process of the security guards, who were standing at the gate of the fortress.

“Liana, I have a question,” Galen asked.

“Aye what is it, Galen?”

“That kingdom accepts hybrid like you, right?”

“I’m not sure since I don’t have any info inside the capital area yet. But outside the capital area, everything is very easy going that I can even enter their territory without needing to sign my identity.”

“Liana, to make sure the worst case won’t happen to you. It’s better if we land far from the gate a distance. If that kingdom can domesticate the dragons, I’m afraid you will be affected too if they find out you are dragon as well.”

“Aye~ you are so careful as usual.” Liana giggled. “Alright, let’s find somewhere to land on then!”

First, would be the immigration process…

“Alice Valentine… and Gerald Barrister, right?”

“Yes, sir.”

Both Galen and Liana answered. He even carefully covered Liana by the black coat, which hid her dragon ears.

“Miss Valentine, we want to see your face so please take out your coat.”

Damn it… Galen thought while biting his lips. He had to think of any way to help Liana, if not at this rate they would find out she is weredragon!

But unexpectedly, Liana had already revealed herself and showed her face in front of the guard. Her odd-colored eyes of blue and red looked at the guards, sparkling like an innocent kitten. Her beautiful wavy long pinky hair slightly flew, following the blow of the wind. Her beauty accidentally caught the attention of the surrounding people around.

“Wow… what a beauty…”

“Who is she? And her ears… don’t tell me she is…”

Galen looked around while being confused. What is she doing? Or is she having a plan to deal with actually?

“I’m Alice Valentine. My pleasure to meet you, sir.”

“Oh… My apology for being rude to you, miss Valentine.” No doubt! Galen could see the guards being awkward when Liana’s face was almost near him “And… Your race is weredragon right?”

“Yes, sir. I am weredragon.”

…

“EHHH!!!”

“WAIT!! FOR REAL!!! IS SHE WEREDRAGON??!!!”

Galen got jump-scared by the reaction of the crowd. This is not good, he thought. His hands were ready to be equipped with wooden knives being hidden inside his coat, prepared for the fight if they were threatened and urged to fight.

However, everything that happened afterward was outside of Galen’s calculation…

“My… My Lady!! This is unforgivable for us to let you walk like this!!! We will call our team to greet you as fast as possible!!!”

Galen didn’t understand what just happened, even Liana as well.

“Hey Liana.” Frank whispered inside her ears, even Galen wanted to listen as well “What did you just do to charm on those guards? And how did you gamble yourself to reveal your race so soon?”

“In Mothien’s Pass, Saeza mentioned that my race is weredragon in my profile as well.” Liana’s finger touched on her cheek and thought “Don’t you think, Frank, Galen? Saeza wouldn’t leave us in danger if the kingdom doesn’t allow weredragon inside right?”

Galen facepalmed. Ah yes… why didn’t he think about it sooner? It was a waste for him to be overthinking earlier.

But the thing that happened after that even surprised three of them more. There was a shiny and luxury horse carriage for noble had already prepared in front of Liana!

“My Lady, sorry for letting you wait for so long. Please, let us accompany you to the capital area with this vehicle.”

This is unbelievable!! Finally, Galen understood! In Mothien Kingdom, weredragon might be highly respected and valuable in this kingdom!

“Aye aye~ This is my pleasure to be warmly welcomed by you, sirs.”

“So cute… so angelic… so marvelous… is this that the blessing that Queen Miress had taught us…?”

Liana’s beautiful smile even charmed the guards more. They were like being drunk from her beauty and listened to her request without any condition.

The guards then noticed Galen and Frank when Liana mentioned them.

“Sirs, they are my friends, Gerald and Frank. Can you accompany them too?”

“So this little Faerin is your pet, I see. I’m sincerely sorry for not noticing it.”

The guards then led Frank inside the horse carriage with Liana as well. However, their attitude had completely changed by 180 degrees when they saw Galen.

“Gerald Barrister… you are human right?”

“Yes.” Galen answered eventually.

“You will walk by yourself.”

“…”

Galen knew it. This kingdom is super racist between weredragon and other races…
