Chap 38: Black Magic

Felica stood in front of the mansion’s gate, which showed her only the foggy valley under the darkness. Without the moonlight, this place would never be visible.

At the top of the buildings, the goblins – Felica’s servants jumped in panic and they were retreating to the mansion. One of them then reported her the situation by their own language.

“Don’t worry, your safety matters.” Felica rubbed a goblin’s head. Then, she lifted her dress and looked at the direction of the uninvited guests.

Uncountable creatures with black color, covered by smoke of miasma slowly coming to Felica. They had the shape of the giant wolves, but some could stand up like a human. Their similarity was they had countless of black tentacles being spawn on their back. It spookily moved, gave a threatening atmosphere since there was a glow of purple color shining at each of their tips.

Their red eyes focused on Felica. As they noticed her presence, one of them then howled a creepy noise, attracted the attention of its surrounding fellows.

After that, they together attacked her in the madness.

“It seems to be they never learn their lesson: Never ever mess with House Hartridge.”

Felica grabbed her coat, undressed it and threw it behind, revealed her casual dark blue dress and a staff looking like a stick of a tree on her hand. She put her witch hat on, looked at the monsters rushing to her with a sharp glance and began her transformation.

“I hope you will have fun with me. Now, let’s play!”

In a few of seconds, the place where Felica was standing had been replaced by a scary image of a creature half human half monster. Her eyes glowed a spooky red color, looked at her enemies with thirsty look and a widely opened mouth being drooling to the ground and messed b****y tooth.

Felica rose her abnormally long hand in front look like a branch of the tree, showed full of weird patterned rings being equipped on all her fingers which had only her skeleton left. Then, a miracle happened as she pointed her index finger up to the sky.

The monsters at the front line were aggressive a second ago. Currently, they went panic when something invisible lifted them up that their giant legs as big as a human’s hand didn’t touch on the ground anymore.

Until they realized they had been lifted up to the sky by Felica, they knew they could never survive…

Bam! Each of the monster’s wave had been lifted up and got pushed to the crowd of their fellows, caused the chaotic mess that splatted the curtain of the fog away and destroyed the silence of the scenery.

It was the true power of House Hartridge… a family of the wizards and the witches who could use Black Magic and freely entered and went out Black Magic Realm. They were famous not because of their reputation, it was because they hiddenly and unpredictably acted in the darkness that no human power could control them. In some countries, they were rumored to become the fear for the children: ‘When the fog embraces the night, arises the curse of House Hartridge. They will kidnap you – the wanderers of the light, and they will kill you.’

At Tredia Kingdom, Galen was the isolated prince so he never knew this folklore. However, to Liana and Roman, it used to be their childhood nightmare. The creature looking like a dead walking tree with a scary face and eyes could kill a human in less than few seconds.

In their entire life, they never expected that they would witness that monster in person and watch how their destruction truly looked like.

Kreehhh! Felica in monstrous form screamed a loud noise with her skull being revealed under the moonlight, laughed like a maniac when her enemies dived into the despair. They kept being lifted up on air and their body got squeezed up until splatted, under the invisible pressure from her power. After being destroyed, those monsters returned to the ash and got vanished away.

However, it didn’t scare the rest of them. They kept attacking, with a greater quantity like the bunch of brainless.

Out of her calculation, one of them was about to attack Felica from behind, suddenly…

Bang!! Felica turned her frightening skull behind, it was Galen! He also came and helped her chasing the Black Magic monsters away. On his hands, it was the sword that the goblins supplied for him as his request.

“Why are you here?”

In the monstrous form without any skin and flesh, so Felica couldn’t talk Galen normally. She used her aura to send message in Galen’s head.

“I’ll beside you, aunt Felica.”

“Not only him, we too.” Even Roman and Liana had entered their fighting state and were ready to be with her too.

Now, not only Felica, Galen, Liana and Roman also joined the fight…

It took four of them half of hour to wipe all the Black magic monsters out. Felica and Liana had used almost of their aura energy, so they changed back to human form.

“Thank you, kids.” Felica smiled.

“You are my aunt, my only family. So of course, I shall help you.”

Seeing Galen smiling, Felica felt like she just saw her little sister. She remembered back then, when Lambert, Milena and she used to practice fighting in Black Magic Realm in the past, they used to laugh together like that…

Now two persons that she treasured had gone and only this boy as her only remaining family member. She had to protect him, she thought.

“I’m sorry, kid, for letting you seeing the ugly side of mine.”

Currently, it was almost 2:00am, Roman and Liana had gone to sleep after the combat, but Galen and Felica were still staying in the living room. They were sitting in front of the fireplace, looked at the ray of flame dancing in their irises and kept talking each other. Next to the fireplace, it was the egg that they got scammed from the wolf business man this morning.

Since the day she reunited with her little sister’s child, she felt like her heart had been warmed up and she didn’t feel lonely anymore. If she had a wish, she really wanted this peaceful moment between Galen and her would last forever.

“Don’t be, auntie. You were so cool in that form!”

After applying healing magic on Felica to cure her injury, Galen rose his body up and yawned. In the entire of his life, he never stayed up late like this, but he wanted to stay beside Felica as long as possible. In just a few days later, once he came back to Mothien Capital and launched the war, he would not be sure if he could see her again or not.

“What are you talking about, my dear nephew? I gladly become your ally to support you fighting against Queen Meriss as well.”

“Auntie, you are very important to me. I know how powerful you are, but I don’t want you to risk your life just because of me. So, can I count on you taking care of Roman and Liana as well? When I’m ready, I’ll come back to Mothien Capital alone.”

Hearing that, Felica was staying quiet for a few second to understand what Galen said. Then, she burst a laugh.

“Ho ho ho!! You are so adorable, like my little sister!!”

She was going to hug Galen and pressed his face on her plump breasts, Galen immediately pushed her back with embarrassed face.

“Please, auntie!! Don’t do that!! This is simply my life mission so I don’t want to involve my dearests…”

“Listen my dear nephew, in this journey of yours, you will never be alone so don’t act like this is your only matter.” Felica then sandwiched Galen’s cheeks with her soft hands “Let’s say you don’t care your life, but do you think about how other people felt when they lose you?”

Galen went speechless after Felica’s speech. Ah yes… he just realized how selfish he was when he didn’t realize that.

“Auntie, I’m sorry.” Galen mumbled and gave a sigh “I never thought about someone would care of me in the past. That’s why I really treasure them and I don’t want to lose any of you.”

“You need a hug from mine to refresh your mind, hohoho.” Then, Felica continued “You know, your stubbornness is so alike your mother’s. I still remembered 20 years ago, she used to argue with your grandpa a lot to give up her Black Magic power and stepped into the light to marry that man from Frelanna.”

Speaking about Galen’s mother, a question then popped up in his mind.

“Auntie, you are saying that my mother also has power of Black Magic?”

“Oh hoho!! You know?! Among three of us, she is also the strongest one!!” Felica answered with a prideful smile “You saw my monstrous earlier? your mother could even transform bigger than that. She was even scarier, stronger and more destructive than me hoho!”

If that, Galen wanted to confirm something. If it was true, it could also open for him another limit break to strengthen his power. Or even, it could help him defeating Queen Meriss and save everyone!

“Auntie! Can you help me something??”

“Anything, my dear nephew.”

“Since my mother has the power of Black Magic, can you confirm for me that I can also use Black Magic too?”

“Wait, don’t tell me you are going too…”

“Yes, I’ll learn how to use Black Magic!”

Meanwhile, Galen and Felica didn't notice: Distanced from them by few footsteps, the incubating egg shell was slowly cracking.
