Arabella POV

A middle aged man looking as serious as he was when he came to pick me is standing staring at me. Looking at him, one can easily understand that he doesn't really laugh all the time- maybe I am just imagining things if I can say .

“ We are here ” he announces to me in a very cold voice . Damn it! Why again.

“ Ehmm...you..me..an..!!” I say Stammeringly. I don't even know what to say to him exactly . I mean I don't understand this place at all.

“ What did you think I meant ?” he asks me in a very tone of voice.

That makes me murmur about not having anything else to say at the moment.

I get out of the car and then look around at the whole surrounding. It is a completely new scenery. It is so advanced and well looked compared to the slums where I have lived my whole last eighteen years until this day here.

There is a stored building with over 30 or more floors. It has a label “KIGONGO CONSTRUCTION COMPANY LTD.”

As I am still taking in the whole thing, a tab on my back startles to the point that I am about to fall down.

“ Will you ever be keen for just a single second.” Mr Jed's cold toned voice gets me completely off guard.

I turn around seeing him looking just like he was yesterday the first time I saw him. The only difference is that he has a small smile on his lips . It is something that was missing from his face completely yesterday.

“ Good morning, sir.” I greet him by staying as composed as I can . I am not going to let him intimidate me in any way. One thing I know is him wanting to come and work here is not just a coincidence, there is a reason behind it .

“ You look at least like a person compared to how you were yesterday. "

What!!! What a jerk, so what he means is that I was not a person. Now if I was not a person , then what was I ?

I say those inwardly but don't say any word to him openly. I don't know what to say to him for that form of insult. After sometime, I open my mouth to say something but he interrupts me before I can say a single word.

“ Oh!! I forget you are not with that boyfriend...I mean husband of yours.” he says and then bursts into a mockery laughter.

I look at him wanting to perhaps strangle him to death but how would I do that , he is the boss.

“ Look around, I think you can see the kind of place that you are going to begin working.it is nothing that that filthy place that have been working in."

Did he call me here to lecture me or to show me work ? Anyway, I have nothing to do but to see where this is headed .

“ Boss, the meeting is about to start.” I am rescued by a middle aged woman who comes smartly dressed in a black suit.

“ Show her her job descriptions.” Jed says cold as usual and moves away leaving me with the woman who just came . I guess this man is not just cold with me but rather with everyone when interacting with him.

The moment he leaves, I feel so relaxed like I have just been rescued from a gun point that I had been subjected to.

The middle aged woman flashes me a smile that warms my heart - at least this place has someone who has a human heart.

“ Hello, nice to meet you. I am Mackenzie.” he introduces herself as she extends her hand for me to shake. I don't hesitate but extend my hand as well.

“ Arabella... though some call me Bella."

“ Woow, nice to meet you . " She adds.

“ I think I need to show you around and all the work that you are going to do ." She says as she begins moving towards the beautiful tall building.

I follow closely behind here . The interior building is extremely beautiful and sophisticated.

This is the most beautiful site that I have ever seen in my life.

Mrs Mackenzie shows me around from one office to the other. However , I am still not certain about the exact work that I am going to do. The truth is I am not fit for any kind of work here.

However I just choose to be patient and see where this is going to lead us to.

After showing me all around, it is time to tell me what I will be doing here.

“ I think it is time for you to know what you will do around here . ” She says when we settle down in what I assume is her office.

“ I am all ears.” I said to her, At least, I feel free with her though I have just seen her now.

“ The boss didn't exactly specify but he told me he knows what he is going to do when it comes to you.”

“ So ??” it leaves my mouth before I am even able to stop it.

“ We are going to head to his office and you will have to wait for him to get done with his meeting and then he will meet you ." she informs me.

With that, she leads me towards the elevator and then we head towards the top floor which I assume is where the office is located.

I can't help my heart pumping so fast like something is going to happen to me. But with him, you have to be ready for anything.
