Beverly POV
I wake up panic from nightmare. My whole body is sweating. My heart pounding in fast rhythm, my mouth open, gasping for air.
Breathe in, breathe out.
My eyes look around, it is already morning. The sun shining brightly outside. I know because it luminously pass through my windows and curtains, lighting my dark room.
I glance at my digital clock, 5.30 a.m. I rub my eyes, it is impossible to be this bright when it still 5.30. I scrutinize it and find out, it is running out of battery.
I lift my body up and turn on my phone. The screen shows me 6.30 a.m. This is not funny, i can't be late for my first day.
My new school starts at 8 but i will use public transportation and it will take a long time of waiting, for bus.
I sprint to shower and change to my school uniform. My thin and short body makes my uniform look bigger than me, always like that. That's not a surprise anymore.
I slung my school backpack on my shoulder, that was given by my school and pace to the kitchen.
My breakfast is always a glass of milk, always.
I drink my milk in light speed while my eyes peek to the clock. I put my glass on the sink and deliver a kiss to my mom.
"You look so beautiful," My mom praise and embrace me. Her face flashing proud to me. Never thought i got accepted to the most prestigious school, in my town. "Good luck on your first day!"
She works alone, as a receptionist. It is a new achievement for both of us. As mother, she always do anything for the best of me. She just graduated in accounting degree, last June.
We live in a small house, with two bedroom, a kitchen and a living room. The paints are pale, some of the wall cracked but we're beyond grateful we can own a house.
My dad ? My dad left us when i was 2. My mom said he went out of country for work, but, we never heard any news from him and he never sent money for us.
I leave my house with smiles on my face, all of my neighbors staring at me, some are showing jealous, some are proud and some, don't care. Hah, i like that !
I always grateful for all the luckiness that god gave to me. I reach the end of my alley and the bus stop right in front of me. I jump inside and sit.
The bus stop across my school, i pay the driver before i jump out. I sprint through the zebra cross as the security stopping the car in line and arrive safely at my new school. DAVE LEE SCHOOL.
I sprint to my building and scan my cards on gate, i drop my jaws it is so big. It has 20 lifts for student, 10 floor and many elevators. As i walk in, students are staring at me, like i'm a creature from the other world.
They are mumbling about something, but i see nothing difference. We wear same bag, same uniform and same shoes.
There is a girl, with pom pom on her hands, standing with her hands cross looking disgustedly at me. Pretty girls standing beside her, with their expensive phone on their hands and same expression as the girl with pom pom on her hands.
I ignore them, put my chin up and walk confidently. I don't care about them, even though i'm scholarship student that's meant, i don't pay school fee and any fee.
I know i don't suppose to walk like that, but, who care ? I get in here, pass through the deadly test that almost kill me, with blood, sweat and tears.
Lockers are place in front of each class, i mean outside the class. Some of the students put lots of food inside, some put make up.
The girls, applying lipstick in front of me and give me a cold stare when i see her. The others, busy combing their hairs, putting some concealer to hide their panda eyes.
Sadly to tell, i never touch make up, not even my moms make up. But i am a girl, trust me.
There is only ten people in a class, five boys and five girls. The girls, wearing gold earrings, expensive phone, fancy case and some of them bringing extra bag, branded bag.
There is no place left except the one in front of teacher table. I get cold stare from them as i walk in to the place. I rest my bag on the bench and sit there.
The advantages of sitting beside windows is, i can see the views when i stand and blue sky when i sit, this actually a perfect place to sit if there's no teacher table in front.
Four of the girls approach me, my heart pounding faster. I admit i kinda scare cause usually, this kinds of girls are bully. I remind myself not to judge the book but it's cover.
"Hi, what is your name ? My name is Mellisa," The girl with brown hair say nicely. Her sweet smiles calming me down, see, they're not that bad.
"My name is Beverly," I says and smiles. I'm can't take my eyes off of them, they are all beautiful, perfect.
"I'm Madison, you can call me Maddy," The girls with black hair and hooded eyes says, and she points to the girl beside her, the difference she has almond eyes, "This is my twins, Morgan."
"I'm Emma, Emma smith," A girl with blonde hair says. She is f*****g perfect with her blonde hair and bright brown eyes, pink lips and tall body.
"Hi," I say, as i don't know what to say anymore.
~*~
The girls are so nice and they can accept me by the way i am, so no mask needed. I don't have to pretend to be rich child kids, forcing my mom to buy expensive things for me. The facts is, they're different with the group i met earlier.
No moving class system in my school, so we spent our first day sitting, talking with our class teachers Mr. Charles Winston that force us all to be friends with the boy.
The guy sitting behind me, his names is Daniel. He has no Asian faces but has Asian decent. White skin, Pointed nose, straight eyebrows, strong jawline and messy hair. He is like 6' something while i'm only 5'.
The recess bell ring stab my ears, the boys sprint out after Mr. Winston leave the class. We sprint to the canteen, a minutes late and the queue will be so long. We get lunch from school, it really help me by the way.
"The menu will always be rice," Madison says in kinda complaining tone. "Nevermind, we can order another food on second recess."
We run and run, my small body help me to slip in the crowd easily. All my girls following me and we stand behind the boys.
"Scan your cards," The waiter says. I stick it to the machine and she give me my food with fruits and a liter of mineral waters with our name carved on it.
Emma, is the most popular from each of us has book the seat of all her friends. We sit in a table, i pray before eating and all of them gaze at me.
"Oh yeah, when we go home, just leave our bottle on the class cause the waiter gonna take it," Melissa says.
I chewing my food but my eyes scanning around, Daniel groups, bullying kids. Dropping cockroach on a girl food you can hear a high pitched shout from a miles away, intentionally elbowing a guy until he falls down.
He is cruel.
I finish my food, this is most delicious. All of us walk back in group to the class. The condition is still same, they still stare at me and talking about me.
Daniel shows up from somewhere else eating banana. He walk with his cool face, passing me but i know, his eyes are on me.
I look at Emma, ignoring him and he seems dissatisfied with me. I let him walk first, 5 meter forwards and i fall down.
My ass land on the hard cold floor and i groan in pain. I see a banana pilled on the floor. My friends help me to stand.
"Are you okay ?" Morgan asks me in her panic tone.
I nod. They all give me smiles. I pick the banana pilled and run to him with angst take over me.
I elbow his back and he turn his face, looking at me. I throw the banana pilled right on his face and run with my friends without seeing his face expression.
"f**k YOU!" I can hear his voices yelling in angst, echoing on my ears a seconds after i run.
We run to the restroom and Emma lock it. All of us laughing inside as there is satisfactions after i did that.
"You're the bravest !" Maddie praise me in proud. "No one ever dare to do it."
"He is Dave Lee son, all students afraid of him, including his own girlfriends but you just... you're amazing Bev," Morgan says, her hands on my shoulders and we jump together.
"Both of us in your side Bev," Both Emma and Melissa says.
Wow, what a new achievement Bev. Threw banana pilled on Dave Lee son, right on his face.
"Let's get out," I say in full of courage, can't wait see what will happen outside.
