Chapter 1
Beep! Beep! Beep! Five more minutes! Angela complained to the noisy alarm clock on her table. Beep! Beep! Beep! The small thing just won’t shut up. She tried to reach the alarm clock, but she failed. Her arm did not reach the table. Leaving her no choice, she got up from her bed but hurt her little toe in the process. Ouch! She groaned in pain that wakes her whole system. She was fully awake and remembered why she had set the alarm that early. It is my first day of work! Her body felt panic. With that, she ran to the bathroom and finished her bathroom routine as fast as she can as possible. She cannot be late on her first day of work, and she needs to look great. Five minutes in the shower was first on her record as she is now drying her long and wavy brown hair. After her hair, she applied minimum make up enough to compliment her peach dress. She cannot help herself from smiling as she looks into herself in the mirror. She looks young on the dress she chose on her first day. This will be the start of my great day! She cheered her inner self. One final look, but she was torn out to which she will wear, the flats or the heels? Footwear is also one of the important decisions she has to make. After an internal debate, she chose the flats over the heels, her five feet and six inches height won’t be hurt besides she doesn’t know yet her task. She could be standing all day, getting things from here to there and that would surely hurt her pretty legs. Angela’s thought. She left the house satisfied with her last choice. - "Angela Menesi." She told the receptionist as she arrives at the premise. "The new secretary?" The receptionist asked as she typed something on the computer without even acknowledging her presence. "Yes." She replied with a smile even if the woman won't see it. "50th floor." The receptionist said that surprises her. John, who interviewed her never mentioned the floor or was she just excited about the job that she forgot to ask about it. The receptionist handed her the passes and finally looked at Angela, she eyed her from head to toe without smiling. What's wrong with her? She decided not to mind her as she has just 15 minutes left on her schedule. She immediately searched for the elevator and it was the gold elevator that caught her eyes with 50th F signage. Thank god there is a special elevator in this building! She was glad about it and immediately pressed the up button. It immediately opens as if it is waiting for her, she hopped in and before it closes, two guards were rushing towards her. They are mumbling something which she could not anymore hear as the elevator door is closed and on its way to the fiftieth floor. Goodness! She felt small pits in her stomach. She is not afraid of heights, but the elevator ride made her dizzy. Good thing it did not stop on every floor, for sure she will throw up if it did. She immediately stepped out as the elevator door opens when it reaches the fiftieth floor. Angela was welcomed by complete silence as she is walking on the floor. She was amazed o the golden floor. She can't help her eyes to explore, the floor screamed wealth and luxury. The gold theme suits the fiftieth floor. The floor is wide and light is blinding as it reflects the gold color. "You must be the new secretary" She was completely surprised when someone talks, Angela was unaware of her presence. "Hi, I'm Angela Menesi." She said to her and smiled immediately. She decided to save her amazement later. "Welcome to Green Enterprise darling! Please call me, Sandra." The lady in her near forties smiled at Angela. She welcomed her as if she is very glad of her presence. She is different from the receptionist downstairs, that she can already tell. "Thank you, Sandra." She smiled again, feeling Sandra will be her friend immediately. "So, is John around?" Angela asked her boss’ whereabouts. "John?" Sandra asked Angela as if she did not know John, my boss. She was pretty sure, John is the name of her boss. "Yes, John is my boss, the one who interviewed me." She said to confirm, still not forgetting her smile after her words. “Angela, I'm afraid that John is not your boss, it's Adam Green.” She said and before Angela can ask back, the golden elevator pinged. Sandra and Angela flinched at the sound. It was a loud ping for a silent floor. “He is the boss, Adam Green,” Sandra whispered and Angela's eyes are already on the person Sandra is talking about, her boss who just got out from the elevator. Adam is walking in all his glory, in a dark suit that takes everyone's breath away on the floor and Angela is not exempted from it. He walks on the floor like a true owner of the place, he resonates power and control. The dark suit really suits him. Angela's thought as her eyes follows his every step. “I don’t think your first day of work will be nice.”Sandra murmured as her eyes are on Adam's serious face. “Good morning, sir!” Angela immediately greeted Adam as his boss is already in front of them. She was once told, that if someone greeted you nicely, you should at least greet back but the person, who is already in his office, is far from it. "He is in a bad mood again," Sandra said as if this is all-natural. How can she work if the boss's mood is terrible? No wonder that this golden floor is silent. "So, what now?" Angela asked Sandra. "That would be your office just across his door and everything is ready for you and here is your key," Sandra said and she left her sensed that she is busy too. Clicking the key to unlock the door of her office, she is in awe again. "This is huge, I even have my own sink! My previous office was very far from this." She talked to herself while eyeing her own room. "I have my own computer, pedestal, and television? Who is in the right mind will use that thing at work?" Seeing her new office. "I think this is too much. Why would I have my own and not in the same room as my boss? A small table is enough for me." She added. "But to think again, if my boss is that terrible, who would last a day with him in the same room?" She is still standing and doesn't know what to do when a page in her room emitted a sound. A beautiful, manly sound that causes her a short heart attack. Is this even possible? "New secretary in my room now!" He commanded. Wow. He really sounds pissed himself. Out of courtesy, Angela lightly knocked but no one replied and before someone will call her a frustrated drummer, she decided to enter his room. "Good morning, sir." Her greetings, she doesn't know whether to smile or not. She chose the latter since he is not looking her way, her boss was busy typing on his laptop. She was debating to take a seat or not. Why this man won't just talk? I'm afraid you will have a heart attack again. Her other inner self-talked. "Angela Menesi." He said icily and she fidgeted. "Ye..yes." She stuttered and waiting for him to talk again. Why I'm behaving this way? His next statement made Angela wants to be out in his room immediately, locked herself out from his haunting eyes. "No one is allowed to use my elevator, the golden elevator." He said making her pale, good thing she had her make-up on. "I'm sorry, I don't know." Is what she said, she doesn’t want to be on his bad side on her first day. "You can go back to your room. Sandra will give you instructions." He dismissed her without looking at her as he is busy typing again. Seriously, he just called Angela to tell her, that she is not allowed to use his elevator? Before she totally left his room, she heard the worst statement ever in her life. "I don't like your dress, it is painful in the eyes." He said dryly. The nerve! At that very moment, Angela decided to hate him.
