Flora
Flora woke up to an overly enthusiastic banging on her bedroom door. "Flora, Flora! I'm coming in now.” She heard the familiar voice calling out. As soon as the voice stopped talking, the door swung open and Flora saw her best friend Amy coming in. Amy started talking right away…
-Flora-
Amy is the daughter of our Alpha and my father is his Béta. Amy and I have been friends since we were born. Our moms are good friends too. Amy and I go to the same school. We don't take the same classes, but we see each other enough between classes and after school.
Amy just turned 18, and I'm turning 18 in four months. Amy's really working on finding her fated mate. Or at least she believes she does.. I think she just likes to try out a lot of guys. We often fantasize about how much fun he would be and where he would come from and how hot he is. So far, she hasn't found him.
Me, on the other hand, I'm not thinking of it at all. My older sister Emma found her mate when she went clubbing in the city. He had just become Béta from a pack eight hours away. She went with him and we never saw her again.
That's the way it is with werewolves. It is very special to find your fated mate. Not everyone finds their fated mate and stay alone or go for a chosen mate. Alpha’s are more able to find their fated mate. Thanks to the Moon Goddess. She has a plan for the chosen ones. If you do find you’re fated mate, you feel it. All warm and fireworks start to go off in your body when you touch each other. Your wolf comes up and speaks to you “Mate” and your heart starts pounding out of your chest. When you find your mate, you go with the male wolf back to his pack. I know it sounds sexist, but it’s the way it is.
Even if you've already chosen someone, you can still come across your fated mate. Humans say: It's written in the stars. For us werewolves, that's the moon. So if you find your fated one, you need that one, you can’t live without the fated one, once you know who it is.

A little story about Emma, my older sister:
Emma told us she found her fated mate in him. Alex was his name. He went to school with us, he was even friends with Brian, the brother of Amy and the next in line Alpha of our pack. Alex's parents were divorced and his father was Beta and lived far away from our pack. After high school, Alex left and went to his dad's, to live there and become the Beta of his pack.
My parents didn't believe it. Alex was not her mate, but Emma persisted. Alex has been to our house twice and I thought he was a scary wolf. My father tried to understand, but didn't think Alex was a good partner for my sister. And so, my parents forbade Emma from seeing him any longer, so Emma ran away with him. She later called to tell us that he was indeed not her fated mate. But she chose him. My mother was sad and my father was angry, furious even. He was going to go get her back, but our Alpha, Maxx, his best friend, indicated that it was better not to pick a fight with that pack. They are known for a strong group of fighters and taking a woman away is seen as an act of war. So my father had to accept it. We talked to Emma less and less. When we called, she wasn't there and she never called us back. One day she called us and she was very, very angry. She said very mean things to my parents and to my brothers. She never wanted to talk to us again, and we were never allowed to call her again. I hadn't spoken to her, so I called her later because I wanted to talk to her so bad. I missed her. She was furious. She was so mean to me. I didn't recognize her at all. I never spoke to her again after that. That was almost four years ago.
That was the moment I told my mom I'd never choose anyone. Rather alone than with someone I'd chosen and he'd keep me away from my family. One time I came back to my decision and wanted to choose someone. He didn't choose me, he chose other women, many other women. So that's when I knew for sure. My fated mate, or not a mate at all. After three years, Alex called and told us that Emma had died in a roque attack. Dad didn’t believe him, but all the signs were there. So we had to accept and move forward.

Amy, our moms and I are going to our hotel today. Tomorrow is Friday and then most guests arrive at the hotel on Friday. If we go a day early, we can make it another girls' trip. When we were little, we took them all the time. My father and my two brothers are coming together with Amy's father and her brother tomorrow. Only Brian is going, his other brother Lucas is on training camp. We go to FloweMoonPack, the largest, most beautiful and most important Pack in the country. That's where the Alpha King lives with his Luna and their pack. Every year they throw a feast in honor of the moon and its powers. This year they also have an announcement. Everyone's speculating. Would his son have found his mate? Would his son take his place as King?
They have a meeting all Friday with all the Alphas of the big Packs and in the evening, a dinner with a party. The whole weekend after that is all about connecting and making new contacts and friendships. There are several activities to participate in. From lessons in politics and leadership, fight lessons and other sports events. You can also just do nothing and laze in the sun or enjoy all the luxury in the hotel. Amy and I are going for the latter. And just maybe, we'll find a nice guy for Amy.
Amy and I packed her things yesterday and she was now in my room talking about the activities there and clothes I had to bring.
I got up and packed my suitcase with Amy. My brother Emlin happily lifted down my oversized suitcase for me.
When our suitcases were in the car, we left. Luna Lillian drove us there. Along the way, our mothers told us how exciting they used to be to go to the FlowerMoon party. All those handsome men over there and the bad things they always did. Things I don’t want to know about my mom.
"Amy, are you ready to meet your mate?" My mother asked.
"Yes! Can't wait. I'm so curious! Not only if I meet my mate, but all men actually hahah", Amy laughs.
"I just don't know if I'm ready Vicky!" Luna said Lillian, with a pout to my mom. She looked at Amy through the mirror. " You're my only daughter."
"Ahhw Mom! I'll be your only daughter forever, but hopefully with a very nice man."
Amy and I looked at each other defiantly.
"What about you, Flora? You're not even 18, but are you curious if you're running into someone?"
"Well, Luna Lillian, quite honestly, I just want to run into my fated mate. I don't think that chance is that big, so I can pay all my attention to the fun things and to finding a mate for Amy!" I said, laughing.
"Oh, why? There are so many nice men!?" I saw Luna Lillian looking at me through the mirror. I quickly looked at my mother through the mirror and saw the pain in her eyes. For a moment, on this fun day, we both thought of Emma. She was always so bubbly and she sure knew how to make a party. It would have been so much fun if she could have come too.
"Oh, sorry, sweetheart. Sorry Flora, sorry Vicky, I wasn't thinking right! Let's think about the beautiful things in life and enjoy our girls' trip!"
"It's all right" my mother said quickly. She is looking at me. "If Flora comes across someone who make her heart beat faster, she has to go for it. I can't keep that cute girl away from men forever. And certainly not keep her to myself forever." She laughs.
