Leaving The Pack

Brian’s POV

Today was the day that Lucia was going to leave the pack grounds for her “trip”.  I haven’t had a chance to get near her to tell her just how dangerous it would be for her if she ever disclosed the truth about what happened.  I needed to tell her that even if she were away from pack lands, I had ways of getting to her and making her pay if she ever told anyone.  Lucia had been really good at avoiding me.  Every single time I seemed to close to her she was able to put someone between us or disappear altogether.  I was getting frustrated because this little b***h could ultimately destroy me more than anyone could comprehend.  Not only would I lose my Beta title that I kissed ass so bad for, but I could be put to death for almost killing another pack member.  I would more than likely face the death penalty because not only was she another pack member, but she was also my destined mate and part of the Alpha family.  I didn’t care what the moon goddess thought she knew there was no f*****g way I was meant to be with that boring ugly b***h.  I needed someone more glamorous.  A woman worthy of being a Beta’s mate and even though Lucia had Alpha blood she wasn’t worthy of being my mate.  I had to get to her somehow and I needed to make it quick before she drove off.  My rogue friends were already getting restless because at least on pack grounds they had good hunting and a shelter in the caves to live out of the elements.  Having to live off of pack lands for the last several weeks had been hard on them all and they were getting restless.  But they were crucial to my plans to take over.  I planned on the rogues kidnapping the Luna to weaken Lucian and then I would challenge him for his title.  Making me Alpha once I beat him down.  I could hear a honking in the background pulling me out of my thoughts.  s**t I missed my chance there she goes.  I will find a way to get to her.  I just have to.  She can’t ever disclose my secret. 

A few minutes after Lucia pulled away from the packhouse I got a message on my phone from an undisclosed number. “My leader may not know what you did but I do.  The best thing that girl could have ever done was leave your sorry ass.  You don’t deserve to be a Beta.  You don’t deserve to live, to hurt your mate the way that you did and then to try and cover it up.  You will never get close to her again I have ways of making sure.  She is safe away from you and your plans to take over will never succeed.”  Who the f**k was this I immediately looked around to see if anyone was watching me and I couldn’t see anyone.  I couldn’t sense anyone different either and it really gave me the heebie jeebies.  Someone out there knew what I had done to Lucia and worse, yet they seemed to know about my plans to take over the pack.  Worse yet it seemed that the person who knew was a part of the rogue pack that I had enlisted to help me with this plan.  But of course, I hadn’t let on to the rogues what my plans actually were.  Grinder the leader of the rogues had bluntly told me when I first granted him access and told him he could pick off any pack members that he would not touch the Alpha family.  When I told him it wouldn’t make a difference, he had told me that he wouldn’t condone the killing of pack members either unless it was necessary to the survival of his pack mates.  He had stayed true to his word and the group of rogues had only seriously injured a few pack members.  They hadn’t killed anyone.  He was really starting to get to me because I had to get in league with the one f*****g rogue leader that had morals.  Who would have thought?  But now it seems one of his members was on to what I had planned and had even witnessed my attack on Lucia.  I needed to figure out who and why.  Just at that moment I was met with an excruciating pain in my chest.  It felt as if someone was ripping my heart out.  Then I heard the voice in my head “I Lucia Marie Stuart, accept your rejection, Brian Lee George.”  With that the voice left and I couldn’t help the sob that left my throat.  My wolf growled in my head, and I knew he was pissed because he was pissed when I rejected her, but he was hopeful since she hadn’t accepted it.  Now that she had it been final.

Lucia’s POV

Since I had been released from the hospital Brian had been trying to get me alone or get close to me.  I wanted absolutely nothing to do with him and made sure it didn’t happen.  I was terrified of him.  He hurt me terribly and I didn’t want to be near him.  But I also couldn’t break my brother’s heart by telling him that his best friend was the one that nearly killed me.  I couldn’t bear to be in the same place as him and every time he and his chosen mate had relations if felt as if my insides were going to melt from the fire that consumed them.  When I talked with my friend about it, she told me that the only way that was going to go away was if I accepted his rejection.  I was terrified to do that while still on pack grounds so I had decided that I would wait for the right time.  Turns out the right time was as soon as my car left pack grounds.  I pulled over, got out of my car faced pack lands and in a clear strong voice said “I, Lucia Marie Stuart, accept your rejection, Brian Lee George.” As soon as I finished those words my heart felt lighter, and I wasn’t as scared as I had been.  I felt nothing but then again, I guess I had felt it that night when he rejected me.  I nodded my head, got back into my car, and made my way to Vegas where my best friend was living.  It was time for a fresh start.  Since I didn’t have my wolf staying with a human in a human apartment complex was going to be just fine.  Of course, my human friend new all about supernatural’s and more so about wolves.  She had been inadvertently adopted by a wolf couple who were told that she was indeed a wolf.  When she turned eighteen and did not get her wolf, we realized that she was human.  She left the pack to venture out on her own.

Amber’s POV

I couldn’t contain my excitement.  Lucia was on her way to my place.  She was to be protected I had my orders.  Poor Lucia didn’t know it, but she lucked out when her piece of s**t mate rejected her.  He was planning some terrible s**t and it was going to come down hard on him.  Had he accepted her as his mate, and she accepted him then she would have been wrapped up in the thick of it.  Everyone still thought I was human, and I intended to keep that illusion a little longer.  With the help of some of our wiccan friends we had been able to come up with a mask that kept my wolf from being detected by anyone.  I had actually gotten her years ago and was considered a blessed wolf.  My job was to protect Luna Lucia.  She didn’t know it yet, but she is destined for greatness.  Her Alpha was her in Vegas and so that is why I ended up here.  My contact in the rogue group had told me all about the attack and the plans he overheard Brian saying to Lucia when she was unconscious and dying.  He didn’t know he wasn’t alone and felt confident that she was dying.  She would have to if it wasn’t for the fact that my friend had rendered aid to her.  Just enough to keep her alive and well until she could be found.  They had stayed with her throughout the night and most of the morning until they heard the pack members coming.  Lucia didn’t know how special she was and how lucky she was.  Just then my phone pinged, and a message appeared “the Beta was clutching his chest a little while ago and started to sob I think your Luna rejected him.  Please continue to keep her safe the world needs her protected.” I smiled to myself and replied “I know how special she is trust me; the powers that have made it very clear to me.  I am to protect her with my life.  You keep an eye on things there at the pack lands.  The Beta will need to be brought down but he has other forces working for him.  The King needs to be reunited with his pack here in Vegas and you need to keep him safe.”

This was getting to be serious.  The Beta b***h Brian was playing with fire and didn’t know it.  The Alpha Lucian was a protected wolf although the family didn’t know it.  Each member of that family had its own protector without knowing.  Unfortunately, Brian had someone wormed his way into the Beta position of Dorian who was the rightful Beta and protector.  When Lucian had announced Brian as his Beta we had to investigate because in centuries the Alpha’s had always chosen their protectors as their Beta’s.  When we finished our investigation, we found that dark magic had been used and Brian was actually planning something sinister.  Worse yet that bimbo he had chosen for a mate was in on it as well. Of course, she didn’t know that he had rejected his true mate but she wanted the power so she wouldn’t have cared at all.  Just then the buzzer on my door rang and I ran to answer it.  It had been several hours since Lucia had left her pack and I was certain it was her at my door now.  I was so happy that my charge was finally with me, and I could protect her better.  Nobody would ever harm her again if I could help it.
