The air was cold in Raymond's little safe house as his air conditioning ran in the background. Pearl, still shaken by what had happened, stared blankly ahead, the blanket still wrapped around her unclothed body. She had killed another person, maybe not directly but she had been an accomplice which made her just as guilty. Pearl had never felt so tired and dead inside as she did in that moment and she could not bring herself to rejoice in finally escaping.
