Chapter 5: A new home

[A rainbow appeared and went up to the sky from the place Yoso placed his hand.

"And my mother told me that I won't ever find the end of the rainbow," thinks the principal]

"W-Whoa! I did that?!"

"What does this mean, mister principal?"

"I've never seen anything like this in my entire life, but I don't think it means you are a magical girl or something. Take your catalyst and try to use it now. Remember, put your magical power in it just like you did on the ground. Let's see what will happen."

"Yes, sir!"

Yoso takes the catalyst and starts concentrating. Then he widely opens his eyes and shots the magical power.

"Fire? Wait, something is different about him though. I can see the flame in his eyes, and also, some parts of his hair have turned orange. He has something special about him, not gonna lie. I can see why Melyndor tried to get him." thinks the principal

"Hey kid, come there for a little..."

As Yoso turns in the principal's direction, the principal starts feeling a strong heat coming from him.

"Calm your magical power down for a bit. You are emanating too much, it might be dangerous. Also, I don't want to become a fried chicken."

Without needing any further explanation, Yoso stops using his power.

"You've got great talent and a lot of mystery behind your powers. You said you wanted revenge? We are in a war with Authorania since the start of the world. I can let you take that final exam that you failed there, and make you a knight of ours. I'll provide you with a normal life and a place to stay if you serve our country like it's yours. So, what do you think?"

Hearing those nice words, Yoso turns into stone, quietly murmuring some words:

"A normal life? Me?"

"Mister... Can I eat as much food as I want?!" shouts Yoso enthusiastic

"U-uh, yes! Sure!"

"Incredible! When can I take the exam?!"

"Since you aren't in good shape..." says the principal while looking at the "mummy" Yoso,

"You can take it in a month. Also, I'd suggest you use a normal catalyst for a few reasons. This catalyst might not fit you very well, and it emanates too much life force. It isn't safe and in our country, it isn't a viable option for a catalyst. I'll provide you with a new one just before the exam. As a part of the test, you will have to use that one. You can keep this one as well though."

"Yes, mister!"

"Oh, and stop with that... My name is Laure Edroch! I will be happy to work with you from now, Yoso!"

"Thank you for the help, Mister Laure!"

"Good, you can now look around and explore for a bit. Try searching for Shimada Kein and tell him to come to see me when you find him. You can go now."

"Thank you, mister Laure!"

Yoso starts walking around the academy while looking for Kein. He doesn't know anything about this place, neither this country. And most of the students that saw him around until now were scared since he looks like a real mummy, due to all the bandages. A girl leaves from a room on the corridor Yoso was walking on, and since she was rushing, she bumps into Yoso. She falls on the floor, and seeing her, Yoso lays her a hand to get up.

"T-Thank you-" she says, but after raising her face, she sees the overly-bandaged Yoso and screams,

"M-Mummy!"

And so, she starts running away with all her notebooks still lying on the floor.

"Mummy? Is it some kind of food?" says Yoso after taking the notebooks from the floor.

He then starts reading the notebooks' content.

"So this is what they are learning here..."

Then behind him, Yoso hears a familiar voice.

"M-mummy!"

"Stop it, Shizuo! It's not funny anymore!"

"Hey shorty, what are you reading?" asks Kein

"A girl dropped those and then ran away screaming "mummy!". What kind of food is a mummy?"

Kein and Shizuo can be clearly heard laughing in the background while Shouko takes the notebooks, asking Yoso:

"Did you see whose notebook this is?"

She then looks at the cover and sees a written name on it,

"Nagisa Nakahara, class 3-A. You should give those to her... but please wait until you are not a mummy anymore."

"What is a mummy?" murmurs Yoso with a questioned look on his face.

"Leaving the mummy thing aside, have you eaten already?" interrupts Kein

"Nope! I haven't eaten in two days!"

"Get this kid some food! If he dies, the principal is going to kill us!" says Shizuo

"Oh! By the way, Mister Laure said that if I find you, I should tell you that you need to go and see him."

"M-mister Laure?! You called him Mister Laure?" says Kein

"Ah, yes, He told me to call him like this," says Yoso while smiling with his innocent mummy face.

"I feel like I lost just now," murmurs Kein

Then Kein heads off to Laure's office while Shizuo and Shouko take Yoso to the canteen. At the canteen, Yoso is enjoying a great meal, with every other student present, starring at the "mummy" that's holding a chicken nugget. Half an hour passed, and Kein arrives at the canteen after a long discussion with Laure.

"Hey, boy! The principal told me to get you a new house! Also, I have to teach you about life force and stuff until your exam." says Kein

"House?" asks Yoso with a questioned expression

"Yes, i***t! You didn't think you'll be sleeping in the canteen, didn't you?"

"Well, this would be great!"

"Stop joking and come!" says Kein while dragging Yoso from the table

"I have to look after this kid for a whole month, the principal sure isn't going easy on me..." thinks Kein while dragging the mummified Yoso through the corridors of the academy.
