Giving me an annoyed chuckle, her response was professional, Listen ma'am, I'm in the middle of my shift. Staring at her with a purpose, listen what I have to tell you, you don't need this place. But you won't believe me until you see it. Please take a leap of faith. her disbelief was palpable, but as if by magic , I could see curiosity grow within her. I go on Break in ten minutes we can talk then. With a greatful nod, I took a seat off in the corner. watchin her work i noticed a couple of customers that went out of their way to cause a scene and each time though handling it professionally the young woman would get yelled at by her boss. True to her word, the woman took her break ten minutes later. Approaching me, she had questions ready to go in an attempt to discredit my interest. So, Sasha, you said you had something more important than working here. Mind telling me what it is. I could tell she was not going to believe me unless she saw it for herself. Ma'am.. My name is Gretchen, not Ma'am. Um, Okay Gretchen, what if I told you that you were meant for more. Seeing I had caught her interest, I stood and began to walk out of the cafe with her on my heels. You are part of a special group of people. Walking down the roads, I had her captivated at the possibility of something better for her life. I could sense it when I met her. She is restless in her current role in life. Staring at her, I gave her little choice. I'm leaving in five minutes. You can either join me and discover the life that has been waiting for you, or you can stay at a cafe where you deal with rude customers and a boss who takes advantage of your dedication your choice. Turning around, I began to walk back down main street, counting down from five in my head. I was not surprised when she came chasing me down. Hold up, I'm coming. So what were you talking about? There's something waiting for me. Giving her a quick glance, I repeated my earlier comment. You won't believe me unless you see it for yourself. beginning the walk back, Gretchen began asking me questions. So where are you from? as we walked past the community center, I chuckled, pointed at the abandoned building, and gave a simple reply. I volunteered here just shy of three months ago. Wait, you're the girl who disappeared. Where have you been? surprised at the knowledge someone noticed my absence. I shrugged off the comment. You will understand soon enough. we walked the rest of the way in relative silence. Lost in my train of thoughts, I was worried about Nicholas's fury at me for sneaking off. Approaching the waterfall, I hesitated a moment before heading in. entering the kitchen, Anna and jacob were discussing something quietly until Anna caught sight of me. Where on earth have you been Nicholas is besides himself he has been running Jacob so hard in training all day that I had to fake an incident with Ragnar just to get him out of there. Standing, I could see Jacob limping over, looking at me he wore a look of concern. Listen, I can handle hard work, but he worked me over good. looking at them, I tried to divert the attention of the conversation. I went to pick up our newest recruit. motioning Gretchen foward I introduced her to most of the group just as I finished our dragons walked in, letting out a gasp of shock she flinched but then became entranced by them. Wait, is this what you were talking about? I would need to see to believe. Nodding my head in the affirmative, I looked at her with a serious expression. You have one waiting for you as well. she had a mixture of excitement and nerves blatant on her face.motioning for her to follow, I led her to the nest room. Her egg began to glow immediately at her presents. Unlike the other eggs, she wasn't given instructions. Reaching out, she touched her egg, and a bolt of lightning shot out from it as the egg erupted. Anna let out a gasp of shock. That's an electric dragon. light yellow scales, it reminded me of Wesley with its snake like appearance. listening in on their introduction, I learned her dragons name was fulgur. Why don't we get fulgur some food and everyone get some rest tonight? Tomorrow morning, we have training and one last rider to find. as everyone began filing out of the room, Anna hung back to have a word with me. Sasha, there's a problem. Dark riders have been spotted in the country side they have probably been alerted to the awakening of so many riders in such a short period of time. they will find us at this rate. Taking a moment to think of the situation, I took a breath and laid out my thought process. As of now they know riders are being awoken but can't detect direct location so I suggest we spent some time training our newest recruits and wait till they can harness basic element control before we hunt down the last rider. Becoming dizzy, I tripped over my own footing. Do I need to get Nick? No was my rushed and final response. gathering myself, I looked at anna and reassured my dearest friend. I promise I am okay. I'm just tired. I am going to go to sleep. I will see you in the morning. leaving my friend before she could worry anymore. I headed for my room. my head began to throb in pain. Everything was spinning. Opening the door to my room, I could barely make out the figure standing near the fireplace when my body gave out, and I fell to the floor. My eyes couldn't make out the face, but I could hear Nick calling for help and calling my name. Hearing Cora in my mind, she was muffled, but I could tell she was scared. Submitting to the darkness that called me, I was pulled down into a abyss.
