CHAPTER THIRTEEN By the time she returned to the field office, grabbed a cup of coffee, and headed to the conference room, the debrief meeting was being assembled. People were milling in and out of the conference room with a speed and efficiency that usually only occurred when a case was about to be wrapped. She liked the energy and enthusiasm but at the same time, it all felt wasted. Fearing that she would seem like the gray storm cloud on their motivation, Mackenzie hung back in the far corner of the room. She grabbed a copy of the preliminary findings from this morning’s scene and looked them over while Penbrook and a few others came into the room.
