Maybe I was wrong about the little wolf. Perhaps she wasn’t as fragile as I had thought. I watched her walk away, her anger evident, and felt a twinge of respect. Few dared to raise their voices at me or meet my eyes, but she did both.
As much as I wanted to go after her, to claim her and show her just how much I desired her, I knew I was the problem. I would always be the problem, and that wouldn’t change. So, I turned to leave. But then my wolf surged to the forefront, taking control with a force that made me stop in my tracks. My feet felt like they were rooted to the ground.
