As I pushed on the call button, my now dead heart ached, if you know what I mean. The call went to voicemail though. And I was more disappointed than ever. It hadn’t been two days since Kyle left and already I felt more alone than ever – especially now that he didn’t pick up. Could it be he no longer had feelings for me and didn’t want anything to do with me? Could it be he had found about me and thus was disappointed somehow? Even worse yet, could it be he had known about me being a vampire and what it would entail and thus wanted to distance himself? The thoughts were maddening and their flow unstoppable.
