Chapter Twelve
Janelle set her lunch out on the table and arranged her tablet. She was doing a video call with Rose and Naomi in a couple of minutes. Naomi had originally planned to come to Janelle’s, but she’d gone into escrow on the building near Wildlife Springs and decided to go with the contractor she’d selected on an inspection of the property, and had flown out to Colorado the day before.
Janelle had baked a batch of six chicken thighs a few days before, eaten one, saved one for today, and frozen the rest for later. She had rice and a side salad to go with it. The sauce from the chicken soaked into the rice for a delicious meal. It was kind of a lot for lunch, but this way it would feel like they were having dinner with Rose.
