Chapter 29: Right Choice

736 Words
"I fear no god, malevolent entity. I commit to breaking your rule of civilian harm. I killed Saya, not as an act of defense, but to free her from mortal enmity you so uphold." Elyon no longer turns back from his conviction. He disparaged the Unknown Entity's playful game the same as how a supreme existence sees little to no value on the small glitter of hope they carry behind their pain. "Wait a second... two Fantasms? Someone amongst us remaining seven aside from Elyon also crossed the line of the Unknown Entity's decree." Brina scans the situation very well, fragments of tomorrow are now within her reach. Out of the thousand timelines she skimmed through, she believed it was only Elyon who had broken the rules. And now that there are at least two of them in the same boat as him, the entanglement of fate drastically shifted; a harsh change has arrived. "Perchance, one may call me a god or a being out of reach, for the titles you speak of are the casted fruit from the realm of doubt and imagination... But I, exist above all else, nothing more, nothing less." The Unknown Entity spoke the diction of immaterial, such enigma he exudes silences the listener, questioning their very existence into thinking the definition of reality from the human perspective between the skies and heaven. Though, Elyon would never delve into the chasm of a whimsical god; what he needed is an answer and progression. "Then bestow your punishment at once." Elyon held his chest out and assumed the worst. The glitch upon the television screwed the LED display, the reporter from the still image twisted her head, blackening the entire screen as if they are in a dream; unable to distinguish reality ahead from the enigmatic presence of a god. "The first who broke the second rule, Elyon Maverick, who killed the mother of an innocent child... Due to the fact you delivered a finishing blow to her as an act of self-defense, my verdict should be..." The weighing balance of the sin commitment favors Elyon intuitively as Brina had reckoned. No one could ever want to think what such a grave punishment a supernatural being can carry out, for all the Fantasm can do is wait for the Unknown Entity's judgment upon the perpetrator. "Bring it...!" Elyon embraces the penalty he deserves with all his heart. "Elyon Maverick, your real-time location will be displayed among all the remaining Fantasms for 24 hours. The counter shall start once you leave the hotel's premises. Punishment was diminished due to not having any murderous intent when killing the subject." The Unknown Entity sounded like a broken artificial intelligence that had taken over the still image from the flat screen, delivering a predefined response that which they can easily understand. "My location..." Elyon wasn't the least bothered by the Unknown Entity's verdict. He can still figure out his next plan once he learns who had violated the rule aside him that is awful than manslaughter. "And as for second rule breaker... Favio! He went on a killing spree for the sake of justice. However, the protocol for multiple homicides states one can have a favorably diminished penalty, which he cannot activate his Fantasm Ability for 24 hours. I do hope everyone would abide by the rules of heaven, until then..." The grayscale reality evaporated from their sight. The next blink they had flashed their vision, the flat screen's light was no longer bent. The world returned to its former state, and the game continues onward. "Tsk... This is bad. If they already know Elyon's location, we're all doomed." Ruther assumed. He scratches his scalp with his metal-covered hands. "Not really." Brina disagrees. They turned around and looked at her staring at the fluorescent above, daydreaming of the faraway future she's glimpsing ahead. "How so?" Elora suspected an oddity from the maiden whose gaze predicts all possible future. She can't let Brina do as she pleases for she knew she's the only one who can see through her lies. "The Fantasms who know we're traveling in a group so far is Favio and the wall guy. And under such circumstances, Elyon's retribution became more of an advantage than a loss." The few steps Brina took are within her grasp. She once again paves her way towards a future she believes is the right choice for them.
