A few weeks later…
Eva’s belly was still wet as Caitlyn, her sister-in-law, and now her nurse in Oliver Bentley’s practice, smiled and claimed she’d find the heartbeat. Eva glanced at the white walls in the stark room of the doctor’s office while Caitlyn pressed a wand to her abdomen.
Jake stood with his arms crossed while Caitlyn worked--like he was there to guard her and be there in case someone burst into their appointment instead of enjoying this moment.
