She was his destiny and he was her healer. Every night nightmares conjured her mind and only his warmth can soothe her racing heart. They were soulmates, just not ready to accept yet.
Haze.
I looked at myself in the mirror. My usual black eyes were dull. My skin was a little pale. I needed to get out of here. I can't be caged here, I feel like being hostage here.
"Queen." Alice bowed her head as she entered the room.
"How are you feeling now, Queen?" She asked with a small smile.
"I am alright now." I replied giving her a forced smile. I sat on the couch and started to read a book as Alice left the room.
After that night, I thought King Black would change, I thought he won't be cold towards me anymore but I guess it was too early to make a decision. He was living with me just for his position in the werewolf. Being a King, he needs his Queen. His wolf may feel bonded with me but not him. He still gives me cold shoulder. But it shouldn't concern me, after all I don't want a relationship.
I took a deep breath and left the room and headed towards his study.
"Queen." The guards in front of his study greeted me with a bow.
"We are sorry Queen, but we have strict orders from King not to let anyone inside, not even you." One of the guard said keeping his eyes trailed on floor.
Anger flared inside me. He can't order people around. But whom am I fooling, he is a King, he can do what he pleases.
"I have to talk with him, it's urgent." I reasoned the guard but they still stood their ground.
Before I could have said anything the door was opened by Josh, his beta.
"Let her inside." King demanded and I stepped inside his study. His study was what I expected, dark with a table and a chair in the centre of the room and a couch beside it. There were shelves with books and files.
Josh bowed his head and left his study, closing the door behind.
"May I know the reason you were ready to barge in between a very important meeting?" He asked in a low voice but I could sense the anger under his tone. His hands gripped the papers as he looked at me with his usual cold facade.
I scoffed at his 'meeting' and he rose his brow at me, daring me to make some sarcastic remark. But by now he must know that I don't give a damn about his position. He is keeping me here without my will and I won't let him boss me around.
"Meeting? You call this a meeting? You were with Josh here doing absolutely nothing and you say this as an important meeting." I snorted at him. He stood up jerking the chair in the process.
"Just because you are my mate, I don't give you right to disrespect me Crystal." His voice was low, almost a whisper, but again he doesn't has to raise his voice to let the message through, his tone was deadly enough.
"You keep me here without my will and you talk about respect?" I challenged him as I took a step towards him. I know I'll regret my tone, being disrespectful with King is never a small thing. But somewhere I also know he won't lay a finger on me.
His jaw clenched at my statement. He took a threatening step ahead, his eyes was darkened. His look was enough to bury a person nine feet beneath. My heart thumped as he stepped towards me, I was scared of the King in front of me. My mate won't hurt me but his position might.
"What do you want mate?" He stressed the word mate, I could see the underlying threat in his soft voice.
"I want to see my family and spend some time with them." As soon as those words left my mouth he backed off me and sighed. He ran his hands in his hairs in frustration.
"No." He said as he took his seat and resumed his paperwork. I stood there gaping at him. How can someone be so insensitive and inconsiderate?
Remember, he was there with you when you were dying with pain. My conscience reminded me.
"Listen King Bl......" He cut me off with a sigh.
"Call me Hayden, Crystal. I am your mate, you are my Queen. Start addressing me by my name." He said frustratingly. As much I wanted to deny the part of me being his Queen, I had other important decision to look at.
"Listen Hayden, please let me go. I won't stay there long. If you want I'll take some of your pack members too. I'll be locked up in my room and I'll....." I was cut off by a growl. I took a step back from him, involuntarily.
"I said no, Crystal." He said looking at me with a livid expression.
"I'll take you myself to your parents but not now. We have more important things to focus on. So no, you're not going to your family any time soon." He said in his tone that dared me to defy.
"One second you say I am equal to you and the next second you are ordering me, King Black. I can take my own decisions, I am nineteen for God's sa......"
"Don't you dare enlighten me with your decisions Crystal. The first time you took decision yourself you landed in middle of a forest. God forbids Crystal, if something would have happened to you and the other time you took your decision, you almost got yourself killed by rouges. So don't you dare me to reason with your decisions Crystal." His voice rose a bit and I stood there silent, as much his words stung me, he was correct and I hated this.
"If you're done, I have important things to focus on." He said his voice cold.
"And you mention me as your mate." I scoffed at him. He shut his eyes for a minute and the next second he was in front of me.
I took a step back from him, while he slowly and threateningly stepped towards me. I ended up falling on couch and he leaned towards me, leaving nearly no space amid us.
"You are mate therefore you're still alive after talking back with me. You're my mate therefore I'm stopping you to leave the house because I care for you Crystal. Believe it or not, you matter to me." My eyes widened as he was too close to me. His hand on either side of couch, blocking my escape.
"You mean to me more than you think Crystal." He said softly looking straight in my eyes and I gulped.
When realization hit me I pushed him away but he didn't even budge.
"Care? How are you caring about me while holding me hostage here?" I asked with venomous tone.
"You step out of the house and rouges will kill you, limb by limb. They will try to hurt you in every worst way possible. So now, do you want to go out of the house, mate?" I gulped at his words and I shook my head, I was scared. Death, it scares me. It scares the hell out of me.
I gripped my head as my mother's dead body flashed. I clenched my eyes shut. I hate this, I hate death. I hate blood and the scenario he shown me made me shudder.
"No." I yelled desperately. I looked at him pleadingly and his eyes turned back to warm brown. His eyes widened as tear threatened to fall from my eyes.
Never in my life I felt so helpless. I wanted to hate Hayden Black for letting me see the worst scenario but he was right, as always. The moment I step out of his territory, I am dead and I know this very well. My body trembled at past memories.
"Crystal." Hayden called me but I jerked his hand.
"Crystal, look at me." He said softly and I shook my head as more tears escaped my eyes.
"Look at me, I said." He demanded as he gripped my jaw to make me look at him.
"Nothing will happen to you, I won't let anyone near you Crystal. I am here, always." He faked promises. Nobody stays forever, they all leave, they all break promises and I am sure his was no exception.
I hate this, how he soothes me while I am in pain, how he holds me as if I am his lifeline and other time he treats me no less than a trash. This guy is an enigma.
My trail of thoughts were stopped as sudden warmness engulfed me. I sat there frozen as he wrapped his hands around my waist and pulled me against his chest.
My heart was fluttering while my eyes were closing at his warmness. I knew this was wrong, I vowed myself not to repeat the same mistake my mother did but my body was too exhausted to listen to my mind.
