Chapter 5

Later that day...

The royal family and I were eating dinner in the royal dining room when we hear gunshots. Everyone, besides Elara (the queen) and maven, looked absolutely shocked. This is when I realize what he meant by "Tonight". He meant that he was going to take everything Cal has tonight. Tiberias and Cal are panicking. They are running around everywhere yelling "Take cover!" Soon Cal notices that I remain calm "Don't you understand what is going on! We are under attack and you are just sitting there!" he yells at me. Then, he stops cold. A look of pure terror crosses his face and I know what is happening and I am truly afraid. Elara is in his head, controlling his actions.

Elara!

What darling?

What are you going to do to him?

Well, he is going to kill his father. Then he is going to kill himself.

NO!

You have no choice in the matter.

I turn to maven and try to convince him.

Maven, please don't do this. It's not right.

Right at that moment, I hear the sound of metal hitting skin. Next thing I know the king's head is rolling on the floor.

" What have I done," Cal says. The sword then turns on him.

No, Maven, I will do whatever you want just please don't let her do this to him.

"Whatever I want?" he asks in the most disgusting tone.

"Whatever you want!!!!" I scream as the sword gets closer to Cal's heart.

Prove it.

How?

Kiss me! mother wait lets see if she is willing to kiss a monster just to save my brother.

Tears filled my eyes. I didn't want to kiss him but there is no other choice. Is she willing to kiss a monster?" His word ring in my head. Am I willing to kiss someone who killed his father? Of course, I would kiss Maven. When I moved closer to him, he flinched.

"Is something wrong?" I ask him.

No.

After our exchange of words, I slowle=y continued my walk towards him. When I finally go to him his eyes lit up. This one action disgusted me but I still leaned in close to him. To make him believe that I would do anything for Cal, which I would but I knew he didn't believe me. I hugged him and acted genuinely nice toward him, but it was all just an act. He was completely shocked. When he bent down to bug me back I kissed him. I put all of the feelings I had for him before he turned evil into that kiss. At first, he didn't kiss me back but after a few seconds of trying to recollect himself, he kissed me with love, sadness, and desperation. I shocked me and I broke the kiss.
