Perfect Promise

Throughout the limo ride, the girls and I could not sit still. The ride was rather short, at least, so we weren't like this for too long. With Charlie’s hand still in mine, we walked out of the limo to see the beautiful mansion.

Charlie's jaw dropped. Maia jumped up and down in excitement. Both Amber and Jordan looked more shocked than anything else. I just had the biggest smile on my face, despite all the emotions I was feeling at that moment.

"Let me show you around," Rudy beckoned us inside.

Mansions were usually assumed to be beautiful; however, this one was just breathtakingly gorgeous on so many levels. Rudy and Erys’s mansion was the perfect blend between vintage and modern. It took the best elements from both styles, and combined them in a way that highlighted each other’s strengths. It was indescribable.

"Girls, these are your rooms," Erys announced when we got to the top floor, the final destination on the tour.

We all dashed for one of the five doors. Charlie took the first door on the right. Maia took the room in front of her. Next to Maia was Amber's room. In front of Amber’s room and next to Charlie’s was the room that I claimed. At the end of the hall, Jordan took the final room.

Rooms in this place were all unsurprisingly beautiful, but this one was just perfect for me. It was huge, with a king sized bed near some large doors. There were also giant white drawers, and a huge full-length mirror. There was even a seemingly endless walk-in closet! It was my dream room. It only got better as the large doors at the back of the room burst open. 

"Noah, guess what?" Charlie exclaimed. 

She ran into the room and grabbed my hand to lead me out the doors. A stunning balcony was awaiting me. I took in the winter view with awe.

"It's a balcony that's so big it's for both of our rooms!"

"It's beautiful," I muttered to mostly myself.

Charlie wrapped her arms around my stomach and rested her chin on my shoulder. We stood there in silence, looking out at the scenery, covered in a thin layer of snow.

"Y'all there is a hot tub in Jordan's room!" Maia called from my doorway.

"Bring your bathing suits!" Amber added, "We'll be in her room!"

"Guess I'll go get my bathing suit," Charlie chuckled as she winked at me and went into her room.

Out of everything I thought to bring, I surprisingly brought one bathing suit. I didn't realize that there would be a hot tub in Jordan's room. Even with the one bathing suit, it still gave me a reason to go shopping for some new ones while we were here.

Jordan’s room looked almost identical to my own, except for the hot tub in the empty space in the corner. Jordan, Amber, and Maia were already in it, relaxing. Charlie entered the hot tub slowly in front of me. The moment the water stilled from our entrance, she began to thrash around, splashing us all with a childish grin.

Gavyn walked in through the door that I had left slightly ajar. He took in the scene before him and chuckled. I laughed, too, locking eyes with him as I did.

“We just ordered some pizza for everyone,” he said, “It should be here any moment. Feel free to join us.”

“Pizza!” Charlie exclaimed as she jumped out of the hot tub.

"We're coming, don't worry,"  Amber assured Gavyn.

The five of us got out of the hot tub and followed Gavyn throughout the mansion. We would have gotten lost otherwise. I walked alongside him with the girls in tow. I noticed Gavyn eyeing me every opportunity he had. It took everything in me not to ask him if I had something on my face.

Everyone else was already eating pizza when we came to the kitchen. Charlie ran past us with a passion I had only ever seen her have towards pizza. I motioned to follow her, but Gavyn gently took my hand and coaxed me to follow him into the next room.

“Listen, Noah,” he said, “I know we don’t know each other all that well, but I think I have feelings for you. If you’re interested, I’d love to take you out on a date and explore these feelings.”

He leaned in and kissed my cheek so delicately it felt like a butterfly’s wings fluttering beside me. It gave me goosebumps. I couldn’t help but smile.
