I was really worried for Charlie. Throughout the double date, I could tell just by looking at her that she was starting to feel worse. No matter how happy I was to be here with Gavyn, it was difficult to concentrate on my conversation with him because I was so worried. By the time we were getting ready to leave, I knew I had to do something, so I brought her with me to the bathroom. "Charlie, what's wrong?"  "My head is pounding and I don't think I could stand up straight for much longer," she whispered while clutching the counter. "We have to go home, then," I told her. "No," she protested, "I'll be fine. Rudy and Gavyn have more planned. I can’t ruin your date, too.” “Don’t worry about me, Charlie. You’re not okay, you need to take care of yourself first. Let’s have Rudy bring you back, okay?” I could tell Charlie wanted to protest even more, but she didn’t have the energy to. I wrapped my arm gently around her waist and let her back to the table, where Gavyn and Rudy were awaiting us. I made eye contact with Rudy, first, who immediately knew to take Charlie home. I handed her off to him and made my way over to Gavyn. "Do you want to go skating? There’s a skating rink across the street. Or would you rather head home, as well?" Gavyn asked me. “I would love to go skating with you,” I smiled as I intertwined my fingers with his. While Rudy and Charlie got into the limo and headed back to the mansion, Gavyn and I made our way to the skating rink. There weren’t many people, which we were thankful for. Gavyn rented us some skates and we hit the ice within minutes. Skating with Gavyn felt so romantic. I had been on plenty of dates before, but none felt as magical as this one. We were practically dancing; we were so delicate with each other. My hand never left his. I felt connected to him, like I could already trust him and let him into the intimate parts of my life. “Has anyone ever told you how beautiful you are? Because honestly, you're gorgeous," he told me. My face flushed as I smiled wide. He made me feel so special and happy. I was so glad that I had him in my life already. It didn’t feel like our first date- it felt like we had already been together for so long. The next thing I knew, Gavyn was leaning into me. Was he going to kiss me? Sadly, he didn't. What he did do was move a piece of hair from in front of my face behind my ear. "You really do look so beautiful," Gavyn said seriously.  We leaned into each other once again. This time, I knew he was aiming to kiss me. We stared into each other’s eyes, taking each other in. Before anything else could happen, an announcement blared over the speakers, telling everyone the rink was now closed. We slowly untangled ourselves from each other, returned our skates, and headed back to the mansion. "Did you have a nice time?" Gavyn asked as we arrived at the doorway. "I loved it," I replied. "So does that mean we could do this again another time?" he asked.  "Of course,” I smiled. Gavyn leaned and gently kissed my cheek. As he leaned away, I pulled him back in. I could tell he was hesitant to initiate the kiss, so I did. Gavyn was definitely a good kisser. I hadn’t had a kiss that perfect before. "Goodnight, then," he smiled as he pulled away, walking down the steps of the mansion.  I hurried up to my room. I couldn’t stop shaking. I had actually kissed Gavyn, of all people! I couldn’t believe my own confidence. I got into my pyjamas and tried to settle down from the rush I was feeling, but it was nearly impossible. Receiving a text message pulled me out of my thoughts. It was from Charlie, asking me to visit her room. My joy immediately shifted to worry as hurried over to her room. “Charlie, is everything okay?” “Yeah,” she croaked, “Just lonely. Come sit with me?” I listened to Charlie and curled up next to her in her bed. I could tell she was still feverish, but I didn’t care. If I could make her feel better, I would. I sat and cuddled with my sick friend until she fell asleep in my arms.
