Their ego must be the energy that propels them forward because, despite my prediction that he would abandon plans for any more operas, Antonio forged ahead. As soon as his ego was restored by the success of La Stravaganza – and I made a mental note of his choice of name for it – he went into a feverish routine of writing and produced another opera in only a few months.
Nerone Fatto Cesare was a dramatic piece that he wrote, arranged, and performed in Venice in the spring of this year. And to test his own reputation, he even dared to have it billed at the Teatro Sant'Angelo, the hall where we witnessed the sagging failure that he presented once before.
