I turned my back on him and took my jacket from where I placed it. I put it on and went straight inside my house. Gus was following me, probably asking what he is supposed to do.
"Gus?" I asked.
"Yes, June?" he answered.
"Kindly give the used weapons to Mr. Gregory for cleaning. Also, kindly tell him that we will be needing more weapons starting tomorrow. He can go crazy with the amounts but there should an abundance of ammunition. You got all of that, Gus?" I slightly looked back to see if Gus was listening and surprisingly, he was listening.
He nodded and went back to the arena and picked up the used weapons to be cleaned by Mr. Gregory. He is the one in charge of maintaining the weapons and their inventory. If I wanted something custom-made, Henry contacts him here from Louisiana and gives him my instructions for the customization. He ships it once it is done. That's what he's doing right now. I just requested a custom-made rifle gun. You guys don't need to know what customizations I requested of him to make.
I went inside through the kitchen and started to pick several cookies from the tray that Mrs. Gregory has set to cool. She caught me taking several of them and she tried to catch me.
"June! Let them cool first." she reprimanded me.
"Not a chance, Mrs. Gregory. Oh! Before I forget. We will be having guests so can you have all of the guest rooms cleaned and prepared before I let the gorillas stay?" I asked her.
"Guests? Do you mean Prince Marco and his recruits?" she inquired.
I raised an eyebrow. "Don't tell me you guys have been expecting them and have already prepared their rooms without telling me?" I asked her in disbelief.
"I'm sorry, June. We thought you already knew about Henry's business with the prince of Monaco. If we knew that you had no idea, we would have given you a heads up about it." Mrs. Gregory said as she bowed her head in shame.
"Oh, Mrs. Gregory. Life your head up. You don't have to be ashamed. Come on. It's okay. I didn't have time to ask about anything that happens around here. I was distraught from everything that happened to me that I didn't stop to think and ask you guys. As long as the rooms are prepared, it's all good. What's for dinner, by the way?" I asked just to change the topic and it worked since Mrs. Gregory instantly perked up.
"Oh! We're having Henry's special fried chicken. He gave me a recipe for it when he first came here to buy the house." she said as she gave me a piece of it.
My mouth dropped when I heard her say that Henry gave her the secret recipe.
"Henry gave you the recipe? I begged that from him ever since he took me in and he only told me that the day he died. That's so unfair." I said in disbelief as I pouted.
Mrs. Gregory just laughed at my expense and she just moved her hand in a shoo motion and I chuckled as I left the kitchen with the piece of chicken in my mouth. And hell I was surprised because I was eating the chicken when Marco came into my line of vision. We just looked into each other's eyes. I gotta say, he has amazing eyes. If I have violet eyes that most people would kill to have, he has such calm and soothing hazel brown eyes. One's that could possibly melt any frozen heart. We stayed like that for a while before we heard someone clear their throats.
I blinked a few times before turning my back on him and ran up to my room. When I got there, I slammed the door shut. I think everybody heard me slam it because I could feel the vibrations caused under the soles of my shoes. And they are thick soles. It's a bit humiliating because he saw me with a piece of chicken in my mouth. I quickly shake my head and finished eating the chicken before taking a bath.
I took a quick shower before flopping myself in the bathtub to relax after all of what happened today. I needed it. I needed to unwind before I face them again. Especially Marco. It was humiliating. Just remembering it is making me flush deep red. I closed my eyes for a bit and the moment I opened them again, the water has gone completely cold.
Did I fall asleep? I shrugged and stood up to dry myself before putting on some lotion and some underwear before flouncing around in my room. I went to my closet to get some ripped shorts and an oversized crop top. I removed the bun on my hair earlier and let it air dry before putting just enough lip balm on my dry lips, and voila! I'm ready to slay whatever beast is in front of me.
I got out of my room along with my phone and laptop. I need to check on those bastard's movements and upgrade my tracking device remotely from where I am. I went straight to my headquarters while making sure no one was around before getting in. I was frozen in place when I found someone sitting on my seat in front of my supercomputer.
"What the hell are you doing on my seat and in front of my computer?" I asked, my patience is waning by the second.
The person who was sitting in my seat turned around and who do we have here?
"Marco, who told you that you could just barge in any of the rooms In this house? If you could do that in your palace, then leave your habit there. If someone intrudes in your palace, you send them to your prison cells. I could've killed you, did you know that?" I asked him in a tone that I am all too familiar with.
The kind of tone that gets for granted by the people who hear it. I just hope he won't, take it for granted, that is.
"But you didn't kill me," he answered haughtily as he stood up from the seat. He then starts inspecting everything inside the room. I rolled my eyes and went to sit down to upgrade my tracking device.
I ignored the man roaming around, praying to whoever can hear it that he won't touch anything that could possibly break.
"Please don't touch anything that catches your attention. Can you get out of the room and never come inside again?" I asked him as I begged him not to touch anything.
He looked at me and answered, "Hell no. I want to see what is inside this room. And where did you buy that computer set? I have never seen such complex devices."
He tried to fiddle with some of the parts when I swatted his pesky hands before he could break off a piece of the exposed wiring.
"I told you to keep your hands off. You can't buy this anywhere. I made it with several computer monitors and other bits and bobs I could find in a computer shop. I majored in Computer Science before I fled. And I thought that you only need your men to be trained? Why are you here and not in some swanky hotel where you are entitled to stay for free? I think you're only here for free accommodation and food." as I was telling him that, I was already typing away the codes I needed to upgrade my devices remotely.
I heard his steps but I was so focused on what I was doing that I completely forgot about him and continued my work until it was done. Once I did, I opened the mainframe and gave it commands and codes to let me see where they are and hear what they are talking about.
"Woah, what did you just do?" Marco asked, causing me to jump.
"Would you stop loitering about my workplace? If you don't stop, I am going to have to make you stop breathing. It is your choice." I asked him as I stand from my seat.
I was about to pummel him to the ground when I heard a knock on my door. When we looked at who is at the door, we found Mrs. Gregory standing there.
"The food is ready, June. Your highness, everybody is looking for you," she said.
I looked over to Marco and just pointed to the door where Mrs. Gregory is standing. Luckily, he understood. He nodded as he walked out of the room with Mrs. Gregory just staring at us back and forth with a face covered in dread.
"Mrs. Gregory, kindly keep an eye on the prince. And make sure he doesn't come in here again. He might just blow up whatever is in this room. Oh, and don't let him inside my lab as well. He is a bit curious to my liking." as I gave instructions to Mrs. Gregory, I felt a little dizzy so I sat down and asked for a glass of water from Mrs. Gregory.
After I drank, I told Mrs. Gregory that I will follow her after the dizziness subsides. This is going to be a long time.
