Chapter 4

Walker's POV

As well pulled up to the hospital, the ambulance was already pushing her inside the ER. Charlie jumped out before I even put it in park. As he ran after Danny and the nurses, EMTs, and doctor, I had caught up to them when Carlos had stopped Charlie from going any forward.

"Charlie you can't go back there. They will take care of her." Carlos has said then looked at me as I got to them.

I put a hand on Charlie's shoulder, I bought him over to the waiting area with me. As well walked in there, the others had showed up. Alex ran over to me with tears in her eyes. I got up to hug her.

"How is she?" She asked.

"Don't know. They just took her back a few moments ago." I told her.

"Cordell, what the hell happened?" CD asked me.

"We think it was a temp of robbery." I said.

"Temp of robbery?" Sydney asked.

"Yeah, Charlie took the money to the bank. Whoever done this, saw there wasn't any money and took it out on her." I said then looked back at Charlie with his head in his hands.

After awhile we all sat there waiting for the answers from the doctors to tell us how is. We've been here, seems like forever. When I looked up, it was getting daylight. Then saw some more rangers and police coming into the waiting room with concern on their faces. They should, their fellow ranger/officer was attacked.

About quarter after 6, a doctor had finally came out and walked over to us. Everything stood up and waited for the doctor to speak.

"Walker," the doctor had said.

I walked over to the doctor. "Yes,"

"Hi, I'm Dr. Carolyn and I had done surgery on Danny. She had lost a lot of blood and she had some bruising down around her virgina area."

"She was rapped?" Charlie had yelled out. I put a hand on his shoulder.

"Yes, I'm so very sorry. She lost a lot of blood like I had said. But she is fine, she is out of the clear now."

"Now, what happened?" I had asked.

She was quiet for a moment looking at all of us then looked back towards me again.

"We lost her a few times during surgery, because of the blood lost. But I didn't damnest to get her back." She had said. "May I ask who all of y'all are to her?"

"Alex and I are her parents, Charlie is her boyfriend, and the rest is her team. She's the sheriff of the texas rangers/police force." I explained to her.

She had nodded her head. "We have a fighter on our hands."

"Can we see her?" Charlie and CD asked.

"Yes, but only a few at a time. She needs her rest. We have her on oxygen to help her for now. We'll see where she goes in a few hours." The dr told us.

I nodded at her, as Alex, Charlie, and I followed the dr to Danny's room. As well walked in there, she was hooked up just like the Dr had said. Charlie walked over to Danny and grabbed her hand and started crying. Alex and I stood next to her.

"Why would someone do this to her. Do they not know who she is?" Alex has said.

"Whoever done this, probably didn't f*****g care. Just wanted money." Charlie said.

As we sat in there for a while, my phone started ringing. I walked out in the hall to answer it.

"Walker," I answered.

"Walker, you need to come to the office. We found something that you need to see." It was Trivette.

"Gotcha, I'm on my way." I said then hung up.

As I was about to walk back into the room the doctor had came over to me.

"Walker."

"Did you get anything from the r**e kit?" I asked.

"We did get some pre-c*m and some hairs off of her and sent them over to the lab."

"Okay, call when you find anything. I want to find who did this to her." I told the dr.

"I will." She said then walked away.

As I went into the room, Alex looked at me all tired looking.

"Why don't y'all go home and rest. She's gonna be out of it for awhile now." I had said.

"I ain't going anywhere, Walker." Charlie said. "I'm staying right here. You guys go."

"I'm leaving anyways, Trivette found something that I need to see." I told them.

"Go, I'm gonna stay for a few minutes then leave and head home to rest for a few hours before I have to go in." Alex said before she kissed my cheek.

I nodded and walked out the room and headed to the truck to go to the office.

Danny's POV

Death is the permanent, irreversible cessation of all biological functions that sustain a living organism. The remains of a previously living organism normally begin to decompose shortly after death. Death is an inevitable, universal process that eventually occurs in all living organisms.

Death is generally applied to whole organisms; the similar process seen in individual components of a living organism, such as cells or tissues, is necrosis. Something that is not considered a living organism, such as a virus, can be physically destroyed but is not said to die.

Was I dead? Was this heaven or was it hell? As I feel nothing but pain. As I see nothing but darkness. But all I do hear is beeping and voices around me. Where was I at, if I wasn't in heaven or hell? Where's my family at? What was going on?

As I was feeling the pain then wasn't for a moment.

"She's coding!" I heard someone yell out.

Then I was being jolted with shock on my chest. I felt myself arguing my back a little from my body being jolted. After a few times I heard beeping again.

"She's back!" Someone yelled.

"Good. Come on Danny, stay with us while we do this." Someone had said.

As I kept hearing them talk medical stuff, I now know where I was. I was in the hospital. I was remembering what happened to me. I was attacked at my bar. It was a robbery but there was nothing to take. As I was praying to god to save my life. I wasn't ready to die just yet. I was just starting my life out. I had a great family, a great boyfriend, a great team to work with.

As I was thinking of all the good times in my life I felt myself slipping once again. Then the jolting of being shocked, then beeping, knowing I was back.

I don't know how long it has been but it seemed forever. Like seconds, minutes, have gone passed. Maybe hours or even days. After awhile, I felt myself moving but I wasn't. I couldn't turn my head or even open my eyes or even speak.

As it was quiet for seems forever until I heard voices once again then felt someone touch my hand. That's when I hear who those voices belong too.

"Why would someone do this to her. Do they not know who she is?" Alex has said.

"Whoever done this, probably didn't f*****g care. Just wanted money." Charlie said.

It was quiet for moment other than the beeping, when someone's phone had rung then someone had walked out the room. After a few minutes someone had came back in the room.

"Why don't y'all go home and rest. She's gonna be out of it for awhile now." Walker had said.

"I ain't going anywhere, Walker." Charlie said. "I'm staying right here. You guys go."

"I'm leaving anyways, Trivette found something that I need to see." Walker told them.

"Go, I'm gonna stay for a few minutes then leave and head home to rest for a few hours before I have to go in." Alex said.

I heard one of them kiss each other than someone walking out the room again. Of course it was Walker. Then it was quiet once again. Someone touched my face on the right of me then leaned down to kiss me.

All I wanted was to smile at them and tell them I was fine even though I wasn't. Of course I was being strong for myself without them even know I was.

"I'm sorry this happened to you, sweetie. Just rest and heal for us." Alex had said then I heard her walk away from me. "I'll be back later Charlie."

"Okay." Charlie said sounding sad.

Wish I could tell him to stop being sad. Sad was for the weak but that was what was feeling myself. I was feeling sad that I couldn't see his face to kiss him or even tell him things.

5 hours later

I done what I all could do was rest. I wasn't use to doing all of this. I wanted to walk around, stretch my limbs, talk to someone. Even hearing the beeping, I heard soft snores to my left. I smiled inside my head. He needed the sleep. He needed to go home and sleep.

As I was thinking home, someone had came in, making Charlie jump in his sleep.

"Sorry we didn't mean to wake you up? We just heard what happened." It was Skyler.

"Yea, we went to the bar to get it ready for tonight and saw all the yellow tape and the doors all boarded up."

"We tried calling Danny to ask what happened but when she didn't answer we called CD." Kyle said. "He told us what happened."

"I can't believe, someone would rob a bar then r**e someone because there wasn't any money." Skyler said.

"Yea, you and us all." Charlie had said.

I almost forgot I was r***d, rapped over nothing. Just at least I was alive. And it was kinda funny how Kyle literally just read my mind.

"I can't believe she was r***d over nothing. Over the money that wasn't even there. But least she was alive though."

"The dr said they lost her a few times during surgery because she lost to much blood from being stabbed." Charlie told them.

"Hope they catch this guy." Skyler said.

"Same, Walker is all over it. And you guys know as much as me with Walker. He never stops until he gets what he's afterwards."

"Now we know where she gets it from. Danny is so like Walker all over again. Just younger." Kyle has said.

They all chuckled a little. I mean it got a laugh out of me. Only if they could hear it.

After a while, I heard a door open. Guessing they had left.

"Charlie was it?" Someone said.

"Yes," he had said.

"Why don't you go get some food or coffee at least. I'll watch over her as I'm doing a vitalchek." The lady had said.

"We gotta go anyways. See you later." Skyler said.

Then heard the door open and close again. It was quiet once again other than the stupid beeping and someone writing stuff down.

"Danny, you were a very lucky woman. So glad you pulled through, the whole ranger, police force is rooting for you sheriff." The girl had said. "Not a lot of women that get r***d and stabbed to death makes it but you sure did. You sure are a fighter. You must have some guardian angel watching over you."

Yes I do. All the Indian spirits are watching over me as well speak. I should have taken their warning more seriously but who knew this was gonna happen.

8pm

Walker's POV

As I was sitting at my desk, going through all the paperwork and evidence from Danny's bar. Forgetting that we had cameras put in that bar, thank god for Trivette going over them.

As we watched what had went through yesterday. From the time Danny got on the bar to sing, some man was watching her real hard. When the time she got done to go to the back, that same man walked over to her and grabbed ahold of her. They were talking for a few moments. But to me, he didn't like what she had said and walked out. As I kept watching til the time of the attack, I had stopped the tape. Trivette, Gage, and Cooke looked at me when I stopped it.

"Walker, I know it's hard to watch your own daughters attack, but we need to find this guy." Cooke had said. "I need to find my girls attacker."

Gage put his hand on my shoulder. "Do you want us to do it. You should be there at the hospital with her."

"No, Charlie is there with her. He'll call me if something happens." I said.

Just then after a moment, Mark had came in. He walked over to us.

"Walker, I just heard. Is she okay?" He asked.

"For now yes." I had said.

Then went back to the video and pushed play. As I was watching it, I saw where he had broken the glass at the door, making Danny stop moving for a second then went back to what she was doing.

"I don't get it, why didn't she go look what that noise was?" Gage asked.

"She probably thought it was nothing. Have you been there at night alone, you probably hear a lot of noises." Cooke said.

"You do, CD said the pipes creek a little." I told them.

That's when she was walking back to her office when she was ambushed. She was pushed into the wall. As I was watching, I looked in closer to see their lips.

"Only we can hear what they are saying." Gage has said.

"She was looking right at the camera, before they went into her office." Cooke said.

That's when I rewind the tape back to where he had pushed her. I slowed it down a little.

"The man basically had said; 'You do look good. You should have took up my offer.' So Danny had said, 'Sir, please just go. Do you know who I am?' The man said, 'Yes, your the daughter of the ranger and I don't care. Now that you turned me down, I want all your money.' Danny told him 'There isn't any money. Its already went to the bank.' He called her a lier. And asked her to show him your safe." I had said.

"Wait you read lips?" Mark asked.

"Yea, it was a hobby of mine when I was younger.

When I looked back at the camera, she had closed her eyes before taking a deep breath. She could've taken him easily but she didn't. She walked to the safe, opened it up and showed him.

"Clearly you can see the safe is empty." Gage said.

"Why didn't she take him." Cooke said.

"She could but didn't you see, he put something to her back. If she attacked, she would have been hurt." Trivette had said.

"What's he asking now Walker?" Mark asked me.

"He had asked her to show him her drawers, but she had said, their empty as well, that she puts the drawers in the safe. He yells at her, SHOW HIM! So she does." I said.

We saw where he had pushed her towards the cash register, making it hit her stomach into it. When she opened it and showed him that it was empty as she said it was. Clearly he didn't like it.

"Damn it, you can't see what they are saying now. Their facing the other way." I said as I threw my hat onto the table.

All I see of that he pushed her against the wall. Making me angry but once he had did she elbowed him, that's my girl, I thought to myself, but it only made him more pissed off. He had stabbed her in the side knocking her down to her knees. I heard Cooke take a sharp breath.

Once you see she lands on her knees, he has pushed her down on her stomach then lifted up her dress and pulled down his pants. As he was pressing himself against her, she freaked out and started moving around a little.

"I can't watch this." Cooke said as she turned around.

Gage grabbed her and held onto her. He held Cooke in his arms. Me, I didn't want to watch my girl get r***d but I had to. I was being strong for her and she was doing the same. You can clearly see her looking around the bar, until she had noticed the alarm. She had reached up her arm and pushed it. He noticed what she had did and punched her then took off. She just laid there trying to breath but couldn't.

I stopped the tape because I know the rest. I rewind it back to where he had pushed her against the wall from the office to pause it there. Trying to get a good look of him and all I saw from Danny was fright.

"Trivette can you try to clear up his face and print out a picture of him. And try to find him in the data base. Gage, Cooke take a copy of his photo and go around town and ask people they have seen him." I had said.

"Try the areas around Danny's bar and other local bars as well." Mark had stated.

They nodded at us and went to work. I went to my desk and sat down in my chair and leaned back. I slide my hands on my face and sighed.

"Walker, go home and rest." Mark told me.

"Mark, I can't. I have to find,"

"No, you have a great team here that can find him. You have to worry about yourself and Danny's. I'll call for more back up to help as well. You know the whole police force is fully behind Danny. They all love her, they watched her grow up from abandon little girl into an amazing kick ass woman." Mark had said. "I'll have all my best people helping."

I nodded and got up. As I went to grabbed my gear, my phone rang. It was the hospital. I answered right away.

"Walker,"

"Hey, its Dr Carolyn."

"Dr, is Danny okay?" I asked.

"Yes, she's fine. The test results came back. The man that r***d her, he's diabetic. And the looks of it, he's gonna need to take his meds soon. So if I were you, check local pharmacist in the area." The dr had told me.

"Thank you Dr." I had said. "Do you know when she'll wake up?"

"No, no I do not. We gave her strong enough meds for the pain where it will keep her out for awhile. But her vitals are great. I saw her today and sent Charlie to go get some food and coffee. A few of her friends saw her as well. She has a lot of prayers coming here way."

"Yes she does Dr. The whole police force is backing her up big time." I had said.

"That's good. I'll call if anything changes."

"Thank you."

"Bye for now."

After I hung up, I walked over to my team. CJ and a few other rangers came over to us. Then Carlos and a few of his officers came in. She really did have the whole police force against her.

"Okay team, listen up. That was the Dr, she said the guy that r***d Danny," I shivered when I said that. "He is a diabetic and will need his meds soon. So check every pharmacy in the area, every local bar, club, anything around Danny's bar that has seen him. Trivette has a clear photo of him, show him around ask everyone that you see in the area. He has to be close by,"

"Or on the run." Carlos said. "He did just attack a ranger, a fellow officer of the police force. A cops daughter. If I did that, I would be on the run for my life."

"Yes," another officer has said.

"Great work, check all train stations, bus stations, anything." Mark had said. "Trivette send all of those and other rangers and police forces his photo. We need to find this man. Not just for Walker and us, for Danny's sakes."

"For Danny!" CJ had shouted.

"For Danny!" The others shouted as well.

"Let's go, we don't have all day. Chop chop." Mark had clapped his hands to get everyone to work.

Everyone ran out the room to get to work, me was losing my mind. Danny was really in good hands. Everyone did love her and I was proud of it. As Mark wanted done, was getting done. I grabbed my stuff and headed home like ordered.

As I was driving half way home, I went to uncle Ray's reservation to talk to the elders. To talk to the spirits, to do some praying myself. I need all the help I could get to save my daughter's life. All the help I can get.

Just hang in there Danny, girl. I love you and we have everyone backing you up as well speak.

I hope everyone is enjoying my book so far. I know its dark in some places and it's different from the show a little. But I am trying to think of a cop and the bad things that could happen to people. If its to bad I am sorry. If there is anything you would love for me to add in my book before it is finished, please comment to give me your advice.

Pray for poor Danny, pray for those who are helping to find who has done this to her. Hope they catch him.
