DECLAN'S POV
“But how?” I asked. “How the f**k did it happen?”
The guards at the gates squirmed in fright like fish that had just been brought out of the water and I hated it when they appeared so weak and frail in my presence.
“Someone f*****g give me an answer!” I roared and the chief guard stepped forward timidly.
“We don't know how he managed to leave the premises, my king.” The guard, who was almost twice my age but half my height, said with his face down. “The alarm went off and we sprang into action immediately. Some guards have already headed out in search of the escaped wolf.”
I couldn't even be mad at them anymore because no one expected this to happen. I remembered Claus's and Ethan's warnings and I didn't look in their direction to avoid the “I told you so” eye
