She liked that explanation very much. She was not worried about their suspicions; she knew her identity could be checked eventually, and she would be cleared of any wrongdoing. But it would mean that she had found a safe harbor, and that her warning of New Edo’s fate would eventually be heard.
Even her small exertion had totally exhausted her, and she climbed gratefully back into her bed. The robot had been right about that much, at least; she did need to recover more fully before she could do anything. She closed her eyes and lay back, hoping devoutly that her theory would prove correct. Even as she drifted off to sleep, however, there were still unanswered questions that circled in her mind and refused to light.
