SCOTT'S POV
My eyes went back and forth from Kevin to Racheal with every exchange they gave.
She lounged back to her seat, straightened her dress and crossed one leg over the other.Faking a smile but I could see right through it, she was feeling defeated.
"What was that? "I broke the silence.
"What was what? "she asked defensively.
"Don't give me that tone,"I raised my voice.
"People will never just let me be, "her voice went weak.
"Why? What did you do to her? "I wanted to know.
"Nothing, "
"All that yelling couldn't have happened because of nothing. We promised to be honest with each other Racheal, "I reminded her.
"Can you imagine I let her join our team eventhough she didn't proceed during the auditions out of pitty and then she goes and spreads rumours about me like these. Just because I told her she needed to work on her weird posture before being able to train. People are so ungrateful, "nodding in annoyance.
On the first day when I joined Liberty high and we shared a table with a Angela she seemed so kind and humble. I was astonished by this kind of act.
"Okay don't let that get to you, let it not spoil your day,"I soothed her pulling her closer to me before hugging her.
"It's okay. It was nothing. A nerd like her has nothing over me, "the Racheal I knew was back.
During lunch break we went and sat at the romantic square where Racheal and I had our first kiss.Suddenly the guy who was beefing with me for God know what reason, passed by, eyeing us with a load of hatred.
"That guy is a real psychopath.Doesn't he know we never get to be with our crushes, "I said pointing at him making sure he didn't notice.I was not going to fight him once more, even though I knew if we ever did, I'd crush him to pieces.
"Babe?I have something to tell you? rising her head from my chest.
"I'm all ears, "still keenly watching the guy till he disappeared.
"He was my boyfriend, "she confessed.
I dropped my gaze on her, "all this time I've been wondering why he's so bitter. You cheated on him? "
"No why would you say that?You think I'm a cheat?" she frowned.
"No,no,no I didn't mean it that way. I'm justing saying that whatever pain he's carrying in his heart is too much. It's not normal. So what happened between you?"
"It just didn't work out.Then I dumped him.I guess he just wanted to be the one to dump me but I beat him to it, "she shrugged.
"What do you mean by, it didn't workout? Give me details. I need to know just to be sure, "I wanted to know how why she called off her relationships.
Tagging a strand of hair that had come to her face at the back of her ear, "we just grew apart.So we started talking less and I saw no point of it anymore, "
"Mmh okay, "holding her head against my chest.
We were still chitter-chattering before the afternoon classes resumed when Lewis approached us running and suddenly came to a halt when he reached us.
"I've come to spoil this lovey-dovey thing going on, "trying to catch his breath as we looked at him expressionless.
"I've got news for you Racheal, "say it already Lewis.
"The academic dean wants you in his office. Right now! "my mouth fell open.
"Why? "as she sat up,getting lost of words for a moment.
"That's a question you should ask him.You'll know when you get there, "shrugging his shoulders.
"That fool must have taken this forward, "grinding on her jaw.She referred to Angela.
"That does not sound good at all, "I muttered,fearing for her. The academic dean was not one to joke with.
"It'll be ruled as bullying. You'll probably get expelled, "Lewis was unknowingly making the situation worse.
Racheal got on her feet and made her way to the dean's office. I crossed my finger's hoping it didn't go as bad as we imagined.
"You'll manage, "I assured her gently squeezing her left shoulder before she left.
As if they had been keeping an eye on me,waiting for the slightest opportunity for Racheal to get off my sight, Miles came from behind and jumped over the bench we had sat on.
"It's been a minute, "spreading his hands on our shoulders.
"Blame it on Scott, "Lewis accused me.
"Why?What did I do, "I definitely knew what I had done, "it's not my fault I've got a girl and you don't, "
"That's how you want to put it? "Miles felt attacked.
"That's exactly how I'm putting it, "I insisted staring hard at them.
"We're still chasing. No rush, "Lewis joked.
"Speaking of that,I never realised Kylie was so hot until the day of the game at the after party, "Miles uttered looking up,definitely picturing Kylie in his head.
"Maybe it's because you had too much to drink. You know how every girl appears so fine at the club?"Lewis was out to totally shutter him.
"It's not like I haven't seen her everyday since then,"Miles could not accept to be challenged, "I like me some curves, "he added wiggling his eyebrows.
"You're on your own bro, "I patted hard on Lewis' back as Miles and I laughed at him uncontrollably.
"You guys are not ready. Just give me time.Bella turned out to not be my type but just wait,"he blaffed.
"Guys,"Miles caught our attention when he tapped both our legs and shifted his gaze.
From a distance we saw Racheal leaving the dean's office and no she was not alone, the dean tagged behind her.
They took a pause at the door and he said something as he pointed to her,Racheal's gaze never leaving the ground.
A few minutes later, Kevin was on sight and he stood next to her. Things had escalated to another level.
We had all leaned forward not moving at all, you'd think we could hear from where we were.
Shortly after,they split, the dean going back to his office, Kevin heading to class as Racheal walked our way.
None of us uttered a word,impatiently waiting for her to reach us.
When she got close I realised how puffy her eyes had gotten, definitely because of crying and also the redness in her face.
I knew Racheal to be strong, this was so unlike her.
She finally reached us and took a deep sigh,"seems like I'm leaving Liberty high,"throwing her hands in the air before letting them collapse on her thighs.
