Drake's Chilling Question

1780 Words
A middle-aged man was sitting on a chair with a long table and several dishes, but the man had yet to touch his food which had started to cool down. He was focused on the girl who walked into the room. Drake felt something was wrong with his favorite daughter, but he didn't ask Kylie right away. He just kept quiet and started eating his food. The beautiful blue-eyed girl hurried to sit in her usual seat. Occasionally, she glanced at an empty chair beside her. The petite girl began to fix her eyes on her favorite dish. Kylie loved grilled ribs with butter melted on top. As Kylie tried to take her mind off the dish for a moment, she saw the grilled ribs as a treasure. She took a piece of the ribs and ate it slowly. The ribs were made from choice beef ribs. Drake deliberately ordered the ribs from the cook, he wanted to see his favorite daughter's response when she saw the ribs. True to Drake's expectations, Kylie liked the dish. The girl also took the mashed potato as a complement to the grilled ribs, slowly slicing the meat attached to the bone and mixing it with the mashed potato. She felt a great sensation when she ate the grilled ribs, and the creamy and soft mashed potato was a perfect match. While eating her food, Kylie remembered the man she loved. She thought that if Arson was next to her, he would make fun of her for eating so much. The look on her face that was originally happy with the dish, turned into a sluggish look again. The mafia leader noticed the change in his daughter's face. He wondered if the ribs were bad. As a result, the middle-aged man asked Kylie about the dish. "Is the food bad?" asked Drake. "It's very delicious, Dad. I really liked it," Kylie replied, putting a smile on her face to give to Drake. The middle-aged man frowned. "So, why did your face change when you ate the food?" he asked. The girl Arson loved was surprised when her father noticed the change in her face. She gave a reason for him to believe her. "Nothing, Dad. I'm just a little tired and there's no problem with the food," Kylie said. The middle-aged man is still curious about his favorite daughter's behavior. According to him, Kylie's behavior tonight was very strange because of the rapid facial changes. "Do you have a lot of college work?" asked Drake again to the girl on his right side. Kylie nodded her head. Actually, the campus assignment was not too much, it was still the same as the previous days, but what made Kylie think it was more than usual was that her mind was torn between thinking about Arson. "Don't you intend to ask for help from your other three brothers, especially Jeykey? Wouldn't he be able to help you complete your task quickly?" said Drake again offering to help the only daughter in the Adams family. Kylie shook her head quickly. "No Dad, there's no need. I can still finish it so Daddy should trust me, that the task will be done," replied Kylie who rejected the good intentions of her father. It wasn't that she didn't appreciate her father, but indeed she could still complete the task, as long as her mind didn't keep going in the other direction. "Is that right? Daddy doesn't want you to get sick just thinking about your duties. You have a lot of brothers if you need them, just tell them all and they'll be happy to help you," Drake said, a look of concern on the man's face. Both Carly, Jevin, Jeykey, and Valery were silent as they listened to the father-daughter conversation, with no one daring to interrupt them because they saw the seriousness on their faces. "Right Dad, trust me," Kylie replied while trying to smile, but she forgot that eyes don't lie. "Alright then, Daddy believes in you. But, remember, stay healthy," Drake told his youngest daughter. Drake also asked all of his family members to eat their respective meals immediately, before the food got colder. Dinner was quiet, unlike the previous nights which were full of chatter and laughter as tonight was cheerful and a lackluster conversation starter. What happened to Kylie? Something doesn't seem right, Carly said to herself as he continued to watch Kylie silently. However, if there was no Arson among them, then the responsibility to look after his other siblings was his. Dinner flew by, as each of them left the table to return to their respective activities. But not Kylie and Drake, who were still in the dining area. The petite girl was not done with her meal. Kylie didn't seem to be enjoying her dinner properly, as the food still on her plate was only lightly touched. However, she tried to continue eating it. Still, she didn't enjoy her dinner and left a lot of food on the plate. The girl wearing only a casual T-shirt was about to get up from her seat, but the middle-aged man told her to sit back down. "Wait. Sit down for a second, Kylie!" Drake ordered his daughter. Kylie was confused by her father's request and immediately sat down in her chair. She wondered if she had done something wrong. Did I do something wrong for Daddy to ask me to sit back down? Kylie thought to herself. The favorite girl of all Adams family members sat with her head bowed. "Don't be scared like that, Daddy just wants to ask you something," Drake said to Kylie in a very gentle tone. Kylie raised her head and prepared for the question her Daddy was about to ask her. "What does Daddy want to ask about?" asked Kylie with a slightly scared face. The middle-aged man in a white T-shirt and brown pants smiled sweetly at his daughter. He never yelled at Kylie if there was no fatal mistake. "Is something bothering you?" Drake asked Kylie with an affectionate look in his eyes, but for Kylie that look seemed to intimidate her. "No one's bothering me, Daddy. How could anyone dare to do that to me," Kylie replied with a shake of her head. The beautiful girl tried to answer the question calmly. Drake also nodded his head, it was true what Kylie said that no one would dare to disturb his favorite daughter. However, the point of his question was not that, but something else that disturbed Kylie's mind. It was possible that she was currently thinking about something and Drake was afraid that the old man who had once stalked Kylie was again trying to scare his favorite daughter. "Daddy has raised you all by himself so Daddy knows if any of Daddy's children are sad. Especially Daddy's favorite daughter who is always cheerful, but tonight is suddenly silent like a statue," Drake said again and managed to make Kylie silent and look down again. Seeing Kylie just silent made Drake very sure that something was happening to his favorite daughter. "Just tell me," Drake pleaded. Kylie raised her head and smiled wide. Finally, the girl also told her heart if there was no Arson it felt incomplete. "I feel incomplete without Arson in our midst. Earlier, I ate so much. If Arson was there, he would make fun of me, but he's not there either," Kylie replied, trying to reassure her father. The middle-aged man smiled at the answer from his favorite daughter. "Arson is only gone for a while, just two days. You don't have to worry, he's an adult so he can take care of himself. You're so funny, Kylie," Drake said to Kylie with a smile on his face. "I know, Dad. But, I feel lonely. We usually eat together at the same table," Kylie said to Drake while smacking her lips. "Daddy was wondering if anyone was bothering you. Your safety is Daddy's responsibility. So, Daddy doesn't want anything to happen to you, Kylie," Drake explained with a serious face. The tight escort carried out by Drake is not for business purposes alone, but for the safety of the only daughter in the family. He doesn't want anything bad to happen to Kylie because the girl is Emily's replacement in their family. Kylie shook her head vigorously and a smile remained on her face. "Is there anything else to ask, Dad?" Kylie asked Drake. She couldn't bear to face Drake for long, afraid that her father would ask more questions than this. Drake shook his head. "Nothing, go back to your room. Don't stay up too late!" Drake replied. "Alright, Dad. I won't break it," Kylie said. The middle-aged man just smiled and shook his head at Kylie. Drake knew Kylie had committed several offenses, but they were all still forgiven by him. Drake doesn't want to get too hung up on minor offenses, but he must remain vigilant if one day Kylie will do something even more fatal. The middle-aged man is not suspicious of his favorite daughter. He doesn't think anything of Arson and Kylie, he thinks it's all normal sibling stuff. Isn't it a good thing that Daddy doesn't know about what I'm feeling? My mouth almost spoke frankly if I loved Arson. I'm not ready for the punishment that will be given, Daddy. If he knew about all this, Kylie thought. The smallest girl of all her family members said goodbye to the middle-aged man beside her to return to her private room. "Dad, I'm going to my room first because I still have some work to do," Kylie said. The flat-faced man nodded his head. "Yes, sweetheart. Remember, don't stay up too late," Drake told Kylie with an affectionate smile. Kylie gave the okay sign to Drake with a smile. She slowly walked away from the dining room and Drake was alone with Juan. After making sure Kylie had completely disappeared from their sight. Juan also approached Drake. "Sir," Juan said to Mr. Big. Drake nodded. "I know there's something Kylie is hiding and it's a big task for us to investigate and I suspect that the old man went back to see Kylie and then, said some nonsense. If Arson is the only reason, it doesn't make sense. They've been separated for years, but never heard anything like this," said Drake, who understood the meaning of his chief bodyguard's words. "Yes, sir. I'll get back to investigating because I'm also very curious as to who was driving that old man," Juan said again, replying to his boss with a serious face.
