Chapter Eleven There was a great deal of bustling activity in the Andrew Daugherty’s house. A fine feast was planned, an engagement banquet, though no one spoke of it in those terms. Regardless, everyone was on their best behavior, and the house “must shine!”, so Andrew Daugherty vowed. Extra chores were assigned to everyone. He was adamant. Not one piece of linen would show soil, not one surface would remain dusty, and every inch the stately house would display itself proudly to everyone that walked through its doors.
