Chapter # 2

“They are your bodyguards.” I blinked hoping I heard Dad wrong but the no expression look on his face was clear that he is serious about me having bodyguards. I didn’t react for a few seconds, registering his words. Of course, It’s not something bizarre but still eerie, something inexplicable gave me a very bad omen about his ordeal which I want to avoid. “What?” I asked after a prolonged silence. He shrugged, “What, What? I have assigned them as your suites. We cannot risk your life.” He replied casually. “I get but Dad, If I need them, I will get myself. And.. I don’t understand, I don’t feel I need it.” I tried to make him understand, growing frustrated. “You do, Damien. Almost everyone around Alan’s circle increased their security. We were also about to collaborate with them for our next project but look at this. You need to understand, it’s a critical situation.” He explained, getting up.  I made a sour face, closing my arms at my chest, scoffing at his words. I do get his intentions but my heart is not convinced. “Damien, come on.”  “Could have been easier if I had another sibling.” I muttered under my breath. “Hey! You know we had you after ten years of our marriage. It’s a blessing and a miracle to have you in the first place.” Dad argued, walking to me.  “But, Dad-” He cut me off by putting his hand over my head, giving me a smile, “I treasure my son. I want you to be in safe hands. Please.” I opened my mouth to speak something but closed it afterwards, letting out a sigh and shaking my head. “Fine.” He grinned and moved back. “Good. They will accompany you all the time.” He said. “Fine…” I sighed. “Okay then, if you can, join us for dinner. Bye!” He said and left waving at me.  After he left, I let out an exhale of disappointment and turned my attention to the four guards standing in front of me. Scrutinizing all four of them again I spoke up, coming closer, “What were your names again?” I looked at the blonde guy and he spoke up, “Johnson Saz.” Then at the brunette, “Freddy Dickson.” I hummed, putting my hands in my pocket, they sure hand a macho buildup, probably having enough courage to crush anyone in its arms.  I turned to another blonde, “Lucas Harry.” I nodded in acknowledgement, turning completely to their so-called head now, the woman with those lifeless eyes. The way her eyes gleamed nothing gave me a cold shudder. “Irene Ziven.” She said, Hands closed at her back, looking right up with no emotion but her orbs were fixed at the ground. “What’s your agency name?” I asked, taking my phone, moving back. “Zavers.” I looked at Irene who replied from the corner of my eyes. I believe I have heard this name before somewhere too but I couldn’t remember where. “I see.” I replied, moving back to my seat. “Leave. I don’t like anyone's presence while working.” I ordered, taking a seat. “We can’t, Sir. We are strictly ordered not to leave you alone anywhere.” Irene reasoned.  I rolled my eyes, “Who is your boss, Ms Ziven?” I asked, taking my coat off. “You, Sir.” She replied. “And whose orders should you follow?” I asked, leaning my coat on the chair and sat down, opening my laptop. “Yours.” She replied. “Then leave.” I said sternly and began to work. “We are allowed to defy your orders if it includes providing protection.” She argued, irritating me. I narrowed my eyes in exasperation and looked at her. “Leave.” I ordered, holding my annoyance. “Nothing can harm me here.”  “At least one of us will stay.” She insisted. Inhaled air to soothe my agitation, I curled my hands in a fist. God, this woman has begun to itch my eyes in an instant. “Fine then, Lucas will stay, all of you leave.” I ordered. “Okay, Sir.” She said, motioning orders to leave. I grazed at her from my screen. Oh, the robot moves as well. She left along with the other two, leaving me alone with Lucas.  After they left, I sighed deeply, shaking my head and focused on my work. His presence didn’t affect me as much as that woman’s. Her eyes are somehow… malevolent. Her presence is going to be an immense bother for me, I can feel it.  I never disliked a person so quickly before. Maybe because I am used to obedience and when someone doesn’t carry my orders, I don’t like them. Hmm, It must be this.  But, shrugging all my thoughts out, I worked. After work, I got my stuff and walked out of my cabin with all four of them following my trails. It’s awkward, their presence is pissing me off. Why do you do this Dad? I went to Perry, “Hey.” I asked. “You done?”  “Yeah.” She smiled, closing the file. “Great. Come with me, we are leaving.” I said, motioning Perry to come with me. “I am going to meet Mom, do you wanna tag alone or should I drop you home?” I asked. “I don’t know.. Hm… it’s been a while since I met Aunt so take me with you.” She smiled. “Okay.” I smiled back. “Your suites?” She asked while walking with me, motioning to them. “Yeah…” I sighed. “You need them.” She giggled, making me frown. We went to the parking lot. Turning to them, wondering how they will come after me. “Where’s your car?”  “I shall accompany you.” Irene said, stepping forward, “They will come in our car.” She told me. I narrowed my eyes on her. This woman is unbelievable but how can I complain? She is just doing her duty. “I don’t entrust my car with you.” I said. She finally looked at me, giving me a perplexed look, raising an eyebrow, “You are entrusting me with your life.” She argued. “But not with my car.” I reasoned, shrugging my shoulders. “Don’t you have a driver?” She asked. “I don’t trust anyone with my cherished possession.” I told her. “Do you even know which car is this?” I asked, annoyed, “Aston Martin.” She replied. “Exactly.” I enunciated.  “I have to accompany you, Sir. Please understand.” She said, tone calming down, lowering her eyes again. “Get in the back seat, Perry.” I told Perry. She looked at me but then sat. “And you, Sit on the passenger seat.” I told her irked. Ignoring the faint smirk on her lips which I want to wipe off. “You guys go.” She said and sat on the passenger seat. Indirectly glaring at her I sat and we left.  We went home. With a scowl, I got out and entered with her following me, by each passing second it was getting unbearable for me. “Oh my boy, How are you?” Mama asked, kissing my forehead. I smiled and gave her a side hug, “Fine. Is Dad back yet?” I asked. “Yeah. He is in the lounge, he told me you are coming.” She smiled. “Yeah…” She also noticed the four people behind me and among them petite Perry came and engulfed her in a hug, “Aunt! I am here too!” She chirped, making Mama chuckle and pat her head, “Oh my, Perry, I thought you forgot about your Aunt.” She said, faking sadness. “Of course not.” She grinned. “I am going to see Dad.” I said and went to the lounge. “You stay outside.” I told them and went inside.  “Oh, hey!” Dad smiled, looking up from his book, waving at me, “Dad.” I called him sternly, coming closer. “What is it?” I took the book from him, making him frown and continued, “I don’t want them.” I told him. “If I need guards, then I will assign them myself, certainly not them and especially her.” Her eyes are extremely undesirable. He looked at me and then laughed, increasing my expiration more, “What?” “Do you even know her work history? She is their best.” He informed me. “I don’t care.” I shrugged. “Let her do her work, Son. She is only taking measurements to safeguard you.” “By invading my privacy.” “It's just a few moments and you are so pissed. I guess you are used to ruling.” He teased me. I narrowed my eyes but she continued, “Damien, don’t bother.” He said, getting up and putting his hand over my shoulder, “Besides, you can’t find a great protector like her.” He said and left, leaving me perplexed about the depth of his words which couldn’t graze my mind, wondering how she could shelter me from every harm.
