“I don’t suppose that you understand what friendship can mean to two young men growing up together, filled with an unquenchable excitement and enthusiasm for the unknown future ahead. We were both full of plans of what we should do. We were both filled with ambition to do something worthwhile in the world.”
Lord Quenby suddenly rose to his feet.
“What has happened to him?” he demanded. “Where has he gone to? That is what I want to learn from you.”
Gisela said nothing, for, indeed, there was nothing she could say.
