Victoria-
"We did well. I want to stay here forever." Harper breathed out under the umbrella that hid our bodies from sunburn.
I slid my sunglasses down my nose and looked at her. "I must admit, this is by far the best drunken mistake of our lives." I laughed out loud, enjoying the warm sun tanning my skin.
We lay under the umbrellas near the pool in the main building, enjoying another day of stay when the sudden squeals of excitement made us both look up towards the entrance at the other end of the pool.
Looking at the crowd of girls screaming someone's name in the foyer made me roll my eyes in annoyance. They rushed to surround some celebrity to ask for an autograph. A beautiful holiday in peace and quiet, my ass, I scoffed internally.
"Don't mind them. We're here to celebrate your divorce, not to drool over some actor who is way shorter and uglier than the TV makes him." Harper joked and called the waiter to deliver two more margaritas for us.
I laughed at her joke, yet my curiosity did not give up. Nonchalantly sipping my drink, I tried to see the newly arrived guests. With a bit of luck, I could recognize the face. But, unfortunately, the security was so tight that even a fly could not get through, not to mention the hysterical fan.
Deciding to let go and enjoy my stay, I downed the drink and asked for another one delivered in seconds, ignoring the uproar and focusing on pleasant things.
After an hour of tanning, we went for a massage in the early evening to relax our necks and balance our inner spirit, according to the brochure and the receptionist lady explaining our stay's main attractions.
Dressed in soft, white robes, we entered the open space, where two ladies led us to our beds. The smell of exquisite oils filled the air, and the soft sounds of nature made me relax immediately. We asked to be separated from other clients and place our beds together. Adjusting our robes to give the masseurs easy access to our necks and shoulders, we lay down and let ourselves be pampered.
Moans.
All that left our mouths for the next forty minutes were moans of pure pleasure. While one person cared for our upper parts, another did wonders to our feet. I had no idea that my body desperately needed that kind of treatment. Once done, I felt like a ragdoll, boneless and mindless yet satisfied to no end.
We entered our bungalow, and after a refreshing shower, we were ready to go for our dinner to taste the delicious food offered in the many restaurants on the island.
"When do you want to inform your parents about the divorce?" Harper asked once she finished her glass of wine.
"I have no freaking idea." I answered truthfully, "I've been practicing my speech for almost two days, and nothing sounds good. I mean. They all didn't like Tom, so telling them we're divorced would be like admitting my failure." I whispered, slumping down in my chair.
That was the most challenging thing for me to do. Admit to my parents and Lex that all this time, they were right and I was wrong. I had been defending Tom all those years, proving Tom's honesty in my family. I wasn't ready for that conversation and wouldn't be for the next few years.
"They love you, Tori. They might get angry initially, but I'm sure they will support you." She smiled at me, "Besides, I can't wait to see Lex going all Big Brother on Tom." She chuckled, "He looks so sexy when angry, not to mention his muscles in those scrubs." She wiggled her eyebrows suggestively, making me gag.
"Oh, come on, hun. He will be a doctor, and he probably knows a million ways of inflicting pain or causing a slow death and being left out of suspicion." She deadpanned, "And he's super hot. Are you sure you're twins? You're not as hot as Lex." She winked.
Brushing off her comment about my brother's attractiveness, I focused on the first one and got terrified. It made my stomach flip at the thought of my brother doing such an awful thing to anyone. He believes in the Hippocratic Oath, and I couldn't imagine him doing anything illegal.
Although he still has three more years to graduate Med school before he swears the oath, I know that even his hatred of Tom wouldn't make him do anything against his beliefs.
"Stop talking nonsense, Harper; Lex would never do that. And you even implying such a thing makes me cringe." I scolded her, downing my glass of wine in a few gulps.
"I was kidding, but that's not a bad idea. Think about it." She leaned over the table, "Tom, going limp while trying to satisfy some bimbo. First goes his d**k, next his limbs, and then his whole body collapses." Harper laughed, throwing her head back.
But I wasn't laughing. Yes, he did cheat on me. Yes, he made my marriage a lie, but I have never thought about avenging myself, at least not like that. I was still looking at Harper with wide eyes when the server cleared his throat to get our attention.
"Ehm, these drinks are from two gentlemen from the other side of the restaurant. Enjoy." He said and placed two sexy-looking drinks on the table.
Shocked and flattered, I thanked the server and glanced in the direction the waiter pointed. Unfortunately, the other part of the restaurant was more secluded, and subtle attempts to spot these gentlemen failed. However, Harper didn't even look around the restaurant at all.
"Should we go and thank them?" I asked Harper, unsure how to react.
It was the first time someone sent me a drink, albeit not the first for Harper. She took the glass and tasted it. Seeing her almost euphoric expression, I was sure the drink was probably heavenly. I stared stupidly at a colorful cocktail, curious and a bit cautious, waiting for Harper’s instructions.
„Hmm. That thing could be in my mouth the entire day.” She moaned, „If the sender tastes similar, I'll have a double dose, please.” She winked and continued enjoying the free drink.
I was still hesitant to drink it. It wasn’t uncommon for a guy to send a drink he likes, but the increasing reports of girls being drugged and assaulted made me hesitant. If someone were trying this trick on us, it would be wise for one of us to be sober. So I pushed the deliciously looking cocktail to my best friend.
„You don’t want it?” She asked, shocked. „You better try it while you can, hon.” Harper advised, almost licking the glass clean, „This goodie costs hundreds of dollars, and it’s worth its price.”She eyed my drink with a yearning gaze.
„No. I’m sure.” I pushed the glass further, „I’m fine with my wine.” I cheered and took a small sip for confirmation.
Harper didn’t wait to be told twice. She grabbed the drink and sucked the straw like a starved man. I was glad that the music was quite loud. It definitely helped mask the moans coming from my friend sipping the cocktail. As I tried to cover my laugh at her craziness, I couldn’t help but shiver in my chair unexpectedly.
The feeling of being watched suddenly washed over me, making me sit straight. Sipping the wine, I tried to look around the restaurant to find someone responsible for my uneasiness, but I didn’t notice anyone. Everywhere I looked, I saw sweet couples, happy families, or enjoying life, groups of friends.
No one seemed to stand out from the crowd. I dared myself and looked again in the direction the server pointed out previously, but I only noticed a server cleaning the table of the empty glasses. The person or people (because it’s still a mystery to me) have already left, leaving me curious about them and making my stay here more exciting.
