CHAPTER 20
—
"What the hell! It's so beautiful!" Lexine exclaimed. She's roaming the outside view as we went in the boundary line of the island.
We decided to go here because Lexine is too excited.
I look at Bon whose being quiet, he's just walking beside me. He's been silent since Helena left the house a while ago and I noticed the changes in his mood. I was wondering what's wrong, I rarely see this kind of mood to Bon and it was actually my first to see him like this.
I sighed and poked him, "What's wrong? Are you okay?" I asked worriedly.
He smiled at me a little and nod, "I'm fine, I'm just tired," he said and look away.
I pursed my lips and shrugged, he's not in the mood so I'll just let him.
I look at Brianna whose now frowning, she's looking at the girl in front of her, it's Nejasi.
"You need it so you can wander inside without our men dragging you out," Nejasi said to convinced Lexine, she's giving a stone to Lexine.
Lexine groaned, "What was that? Why do I need that and why would they drag me? I'm a guest—"
"Just accept it, Brianna. It's their rule," I muttered to her. Nejasi and Lexine looks at me.
I smiled at Nejasi, "Thank you, Nej."
She shook her head, "That's nothing," she said sweetly as she give the other stone to Bon.
Bon accepted it without asking, Nejasi left after that.
"What is this for?" Lexine asked while she's putting the stone in her yellow dress.
"Identification for their visitors and guest, they are strict with that so you better take care of it," I warned her but she just rolled her eyes on me.
"The island is really breath-taking, geez, I can't wait to go inside!" Lexine giggled and walked towards the statue of the entrance.
I saw how her mouth dropped as she saw the woman figure of the statue, "Wow! Who is this? It's gorgeous and b***h! The name of the island was wholesome and it was written so damn good!" she said as she touches it.
I smiled, "Yah, I told you," I said.
She shook her head, "Everything in here was unique, Donovan is really good, huh," she smirked devilishly.
I rolled my eyes on her, "Stop that evil smile, he's already taken, he's here with Belva,"
Her smile became more creepy as she looks at me, "I can seduce—"
"Shut up, Brianna," I muttered at her, she laughed at me and shrugged before she went inside.
"She was found dead, but still alive," Bon whispered, I look at him.
"What?" I asked.
I followed his gaze, he's looking at the statue. What does he mean?
"What are you talking about, Bon?" I asked confusingly.
He smiled at me, but it's different, there's something missing in his smile, "Above the sky, below the grief, and in the middle of sorrow, it's lonely," he said and chuckled.
I sighed sharply, "Bon—"
"Let's go inside, Lexine is already frowning," Bon said as he avoid my gaze.
I slowly nod and disregard my thought, he's being weird, I laughed when I saw Lexine's face, she's grumpy.
"What—"
"I was saying something! I thought you two were walking behind me! I look like crazy talking to myself!" she said in frustration but I just laugh even more.
She's adorable when she's mad. She glared at me but I just flickered my tongue on my cheeks.
"b***h," she muttered.
"Where do you want to go first?" I asked, she mockingly looks at me, "Anywhere,"
"Let's go in their—"
"I want to eat," she muttered, I frowned at her.
"We just ate, Brianna. Why do you want to eat again?"
"I just want to taste their food, I wonder if it's delicious,"
I look at Bon, "Is it okay with you?"
He nods at me, "It's fine, I want to eat too," he said.
"So? Where's the restaurant?" Lexine excitedly.
"There's three restaurant here, TTHoL, TVFoL, TRJoH, which one do you prefer?" I asked them.
Lexine looks at me with a confused face, "What was that? I mean the name—"
"Just choose, Brianna, I'll tell you later," I said sarcastically.
She flip her hair to me, "Okay, fine, I want the last one,"
"Tss," I said and lead the way.
We were walking when Brianna stop in a sudden.
"Is that Donovan?" Lexine asked.
I followed her gaze and I saw Donovan walking to our direction with Belva in his side, he's holding her waist.
Donovan and Belva stopped in front of us, "Lexine," Belva said softly.
Lexine smiled but not to Belva, she smiled to Donovan, this girl!
"Hi Donovan, long time no see," Lexine smirked at him. Donovan has no emotion, as usual.
He's looking at Lexine with his cold eyes.
Lexine looks at Belva but she's not smiling anymore, "You hook up with—"
Bon held Lexine's arm to stop her from saying things, I frowned at Lexine, what's wrong?
Belva smiled sweetly at Lexine, "I'm sorry, I didn't mean to kiss your boyfriend—"
"Ex, he's my ex-boyfriend now," Lexine said rudely.
"Stop with that glare, Lexine," Donovan said coldly.
"What? Jerk," I bit my lips and look at Donovan, I don't know how close she is with Donovan, I just hope she won't provoke him.
"Let's eat, Lexine. I'm hungry," Bon said as she held Lexine.
"Let's go," Brianna mumbled and walked, Bon followed her.
I smiled at Donovan and Belva, "I apologize for her behaviour," I said politely.
Belva beamed at me, "It's okay, by the way, you'll eat in TRJoH?" she asked in a very modest way.
I nod at her, "Yup,"
"We'll eat their too, it's Donovan favorite," she muttered.
My lips parted and nod as I look at Donovan, he's not looking at us.
"Let's eat together," Belva said.
Our gaze turns to Donovan when he groaned, "What?" Belva asked him.
He sighed sharply and shrugged, it looks like he doesn't like what Belva said.
"Let's go," Belva muttered, I walked first so basically they're following me. When I went inside I found Lexine and Bon sitting in six seater dining table.
I sighed before I walked towards them, Lexine noticed my presence immediately.
"I ordered your favorite food, Anica—"
"I was the one—" Bon pursed his lips when Lexine glared at him.
"Shut up—"
"I'm not a dog, Brianna," Bon said and I chortled because of that, he glared at me so I pursed my lips to suppress my laughter.
"What are they doing here?" Lexine asked, I was confused at first but I quickly realized it.
"They're eating with us," I said.
Her face crumbled in annoyance as she looks at me unbelievably, "What—"
She was interrupted when Belva seat in front of her while Donovan's facing Ebony. I sighed and seat beside Bon's right side.
While waiting for the food I heard Lexine's frowned for how many times, Donovan already ordered a food for them.
We were just silent the whole time not until Helena enter the restaurant, she's wearing a black v-neck croptop and maong short.
When her eyes found mine she immediately smiled, she walked towards us.
"What are you doing here? I thought you're already leaving?" I asked her but she shrugged.
"I'll leave later in midnight, there's an emergency in Selaser Island so Uncle Pail needs to go there first," she muttered plainly.
I nod at her, "You want to eat?"
"That's the reason why I'm here and besides, Lexine called me to join you here," she said as her eyes darted on Lexine whose now pouting like a baby to Helena.
"You're such a b***h, you said you wouldn't come—"
"Just kidding," Helena said and smirked, Lexine rolled her eyes but chuckled afterward.
Helena's gaze went to Bon whose now looking at her intently... again, what's wrong with this two? Helena pursed her lips and her gaze turns to Belva and Donovan.
Her lips parted a bit as she looks at them, "Didn't know you're close with Belva—"
"She's not, Helena. They just want to dine with us, I don't even know why—"
"Lexine, your mouth," Bon said seriously. Lexine squints at Bon.
We all look at the available chair, it's in front of me and beside Donovan. Helena shrugged before she sat down.
"Did you order a beef caldere—"
"I did," Bon said plainly. Helena raised her brow to Bon, "That's yours—"
"I can share," Bon said.
Helena smirked, "Okay," she said and turns to me.
"I left the designs in my unit, you can have it anytime," Helena said as she stares at me.
"You left your things in the unit?" I asked.
"Some, I just brought some of clothes, I'll be back next month for the final output of the island,"
"How about Zenos? He'll be here with you—"
"Let's not talk about that brute," Helena said coldly.
I nod slowly, they seems like they had a fight.
She sighed, "He'll be here next week to look at the place of the island, he can help you to manage the positions of every facility,"
"Do you two had a fight?" I asked carefully.
She lean on her chair, "Yeah, he's just... I don't know. There's something wrong but yah, it's fine, we'll gonna cool down first cause we had a huge fight last night,"
"Is this the first time you had an argument with him?" I look at her, she seems okay.
She chortled, "No, we argue a lot of times, this one just feel so pathetic and surreal, it felt so real. I just know he's hiding something," she muttered and closed her eyes.
"Hiding? Is he cheating?" I asked as my eyes widened.
"No, he'll never cheat on me, that's the last thing he will do, it's some kind of secret that is forbidden to know about," she beamed at me.
When I'm in the middle of asking a question the waiter came and served our food to the table.
"Thank you," I said to the girl, she just smiled at me.
While we were eating, everyone is just silently eating, the tranquility of the place can be felt.
"Do you want some?" I look at Belva when she asked Donovan. She's giving him a crab.
I heard Lexine groaned, "He will have some if he want—"
"Lexine, stop being so bitter," Bon interrupted her, Lexine pinched Bon's arm and squints at him angrily.
Belva looks so sophisicated even when she's eating, we look at Helena when her phone rang.
It's on the table so I saw the caller, it's Zenos.
"You're not planning to answer it?" I moved my gaze to Bon when he asked Helena.
"Would you answer it for me?" Helena said as she raised her brow to him.
"If you want to," Bon said plainly.
Helena rolled her eyes, "You two are jerk, do you know that?"
Bon scoffed, "I never bother you—"
"Shut up, you did bothered me a lot of times, i***t," Helena said sarcastically and gave me Bon a bored look.
"Mate was mad when you left without any words," Bon said, my lips parted when he open about Mate.
I saw how Helena stay stilled, she slowly dropped her utensils, "What a nice moment to bring that up, Caesar," she said emphatically.
Her eyes turns emotionless as she stares at him, Bon clenched his jaw as he stared back to her.
Wait... did she just call Bon on his second name?
"There's no nice moment with you, Helena," he said frigidly.
Helena smirked, she shrugged and went back to eating without answering Bon. The tension were visible but it's bearable.
I was shocked when Donovan picked Helena's phone.
"Stop calling her," he said coldly, Helena looks at Donovan with irritation but she didn't say anything.
Donovan took a glimpse to Helena while listening to Zenos.
"Don't act as if you're still her fiance," Donovan muttered in his usual voice.
Helena sighed sharply before she steal her phone to Donovan's hand, she glared at him and ended the call.
"What was that, Donovan?" Helena said in a frustration manner.
"He's disturbing us—"
"You could reject it instead of answering it,"
"He wouldn't stop just like that, you know that," Donovan said frigidly.
Helena pursed her lips tightly and flickered her tongue on her right cheeks. She looks annoyed.
"Excuse me," Helena said as her phone rang again, it definitely Zenos.
We watched her vanished in our sight as she went out.
After we ate we decided to go to the beach so we can relax, the ocean and wind feels so calm and the serenity of the sea was pulling us to stay, it's actually feels nice to be here.
I was sitting on the chair while looking at Lexine, she's swimming and enjoying the water.
"She looks so carefree," Bon said, I smiled at him, he's referring to Brianna.
"Yes, she really loves the ocean," I muttered.
"She's afraid of it before, Vein did a good job of training her, huh,"
I look at him when he mention Brianna's ex-boyfriend, "What do you mean?" I asked.
He shrugged, "I just thought that somehow he was the reason why Lexine faced her fear—"
"He did nothing good but to wrecked her, Bon,"
Bon looks at me and smiled, "We don't know that, Cean."
"I was there when Brianna cried for him—"
"That's my point, remember when Brianna said that she wouldn't cry just for a man? that she hates the ocean so she will never swim on that salty water, and when she said... she'll never chase a man? all of those was thrown because of her ex-boyfriend," Bon stated as he watched Lexine.
"She did that for herself," I fired back.
Bon glanced at me and chuckled, "If you say so,"
I sighed and moved my gaze to the ocean, the small waves was just dancing along the wind, it looks harmonious and pleasant.
"Do you like the place?" I asked, he nods at me.
"It giving me chills, there's something in here that will make yourself feel lost but also found," he said and lay on the chair.
He closed his eyes, I smiled as I watched him sleep, he's the sweetest and I'm very lucky to have him.
I was savouring the moment as I look at the sky behind Bon's chair when someone spoke.
"I told you not look at him longer than the usual," a cold deep voice.
Wyatt.
I slowly turn around, I smiled at him, "What are you doing here?"
He frowned at me, "I'm just walking when I saw your back," he said.
"Wow, you really recognize my body figure, huh," I jokingly muttered to him.
"Why are you with him, where's Lexine?" he asked with his furrowed brow.
"Lexine is enjoying, she's swimming," I replied to him.
"You look good on your dress," he said as scrutinize me from head to toe.
I smiled at him, "Thank you, you're going to swim?" he's wearing a khaki short as usual and he's topless so I think he has a plan to take a dip.
He nods at me, "You? You'll gonna stay here and watch him sleep?" he said with sarcasm.
I scoffed at him, "I'm not watching him—"
"I just saw you," he stated like he's sure at what he saw.
"I'm looking at the sky, it' almost a sunset," I muttered at him and rolled my eyes.
He walked towards me, "Let's swim,"
I shook my head, "I don't want to, I just want to watch the sunset,"
"The view is more fascinating when you're in the ocean, trust me," I stared at him and nod slowly.
"Okay," I whispered.
I untie the lace of my dress and it fell quickly. I was wearing black one piece, it's not revealing, it's just like the one-piece swimsuit that we bought last time.
Wyatt lend his hand on me so I accepted it, my heart hammered rapidly as the cold water touched my foot.
It's so cold, I was just following Wyatt, his back is facing me, that muscular built is so damn good to look at.
I held his arm when the water is almost in my neck, "Let's stop here," I said.
He looks at me and nod, he let go of my hand but his eyes never left me as I moved away.
I smiled at him, "You can swim, don't mind me,"
He pursed his lips before he swim, I float myself and closed my eyes. It really feels peaceful, the ocean is so amicable.
I just let the waves sway my body, I just let it flow.
I opened my eyes when I felt a hand on my waist, "What?" I asked while looking at Wyatt.
He clenched his jaw and look away, he held me tighter, "Try to put your feet on the sand," he said coldly.
I look at him and stood up, I tried to put my feet on the sand but I can't, I look at him in horror.
"You're being careless," He said emphatically, he's not looking at me but I can see how his jaw clenched.
"I didn't not—"
He pulled my waist closer to him and switch my position, he made me face the ocean, I gasped when I saw the sunset, it's... it's so beautiful... I swallowed hardly as I watched it, I tried to look at Wyatt but he didn't let me.
"Just watch it," he whispered to me, I felt his lips on my head, I bit my lips as I savour the moment of the beautiful scenery... with the special person behind me.
I held his arms tightly and lean on his chest. "It's so... beautiful," I whispered as my tears fell.
His embrace became tighter, "Yes, love, it's so beautiful," he murmured in my ears.
"I would like to stay like this forever," he said and kissed my hair.
"If we just could, if we just can," I whispered but I made sure that he won't hear it.
As the sunset slowly fades, my smile also vanished, there's no permanent in this world, no matter how we want to stay it that way, it will be gone.
"Let's go," I said to him but he didn't let me.
"There's still a sunset, just wait for it to get down, it's more beautiful that way," he stated, I sighed and let him.
"I love it when the sunset fades," he muttered.
"I don't like it, the alluring sight was being stole by the darkness," I said emphatically.
"You don't like the darkness?" he asked, I turn around to see him and this time he let me. He's just holding my waist cause I will drown if he will let go of me.
"Who likes it anyway?"
He shook his head and stares at me intently, "It's a part of our life, darkness is not bad at all," he muttered.
"It is. Darkness always ruined everything, it's the mystery of us, all of the scars was being hidden in those dark shade, I just hate it,"
He pulled me closer, "But aren't you wondering why darkness exist?" I look into his eyes as I felt my self being lost in his stare.
"It exist to remind us that we can't never have the happiness we are all seeking," I smiled bitterly to him.
"But without it, do you think we can be this person we are today?"
I shook my head, "I was better off without it,"
He looks at me intently, "Does people hate it because of pain? or does they hate it because they can't accept the reality?"
I furrowed my brow to him, "Does it matter? In fact, pain is the reminder of reality,"
"Then why do you hate darkness without hating the lightness of this life," he said.
My lips parted, "How could you hate something that's making you happy?" I asked unbelievably.
"Then how could you loathe something that's making you strong," he sighed heavily and embrace me tightly.
"Sometimes, for able to forsake the past, you have to live in the present and forget that future exist, past and future destroys people so just live in the present so you wouldn't have regrets in yesterday and tomorrow,"
I grip his shoulder as I held on him tightly, "But it is impossible," I whispered.
"Nothing is impossible for those who have faith, love, just believe, it cost nothing to believe,"
I swallowed hard and buried my face on his neck, my tears continuously fell, "I did, I did believe before, I hope that everything will be alright but look, to believe is to be disappointed, Wyatt, it is to broke you in the manner of self-destruction inside," I bit my lips to stop from shuddering.
"Believing doesn't mean it will happen, love, to believe is to have faith, faith that everything will be okay, in the right time, so just endure for now, cause greater things are coming, and you will rejoice with that," I moved away a little to see his face.
His eyes looks vulnerable as he looks at me, I closed my eyes when he kissed my forehead, "I am here, let me help you, let me teach how to heal yourself," he whispered softly.
"If the world turns their back on you, I will stay here, I will be here behind you,"
I look away as I felt my heart throbbing in pain, it is too much to ask for happiness to be with him?
It is over-whelming, I feel it will explode anytime and it hurts. It hurts so damn good.
I look into his eyes and all I can see is... love and affection.
I shook my head and cried harder in his shoulder, "Why does it pain me to look at you like this, Wyatt. Why does I felt like you're becoming the vital part of me..." I sob as he caressed my back.
"I love you,"
I gasped at what he said, it caught me off guard, "Wyatt..." I whispered.
He hugged me tightly and we stay that way, "I want to see your smile, love, I want you to be happy, so I want you to let go of everything that's stopping you from being free,"
I closed my eyes and rest my head on his shoulder, I hope I can, Wyatt.
I don't know how many hours have passed when we get up to the cold ocean. I smiled at him, it's time to separate our ways.
"I'll go now," I said, he just nod at me.
I turn my back on him and walked away, I stopped when I heard him called me.
I glanced at him, he's standing in where I left him, he didn't even move.
He smiled at me, "Perilous Sea, love, you will be the woman that Helena is referring too, and I will watch you... even far away," he muttered, my chest moves up and down as I breathe heavily.
I beamed at him, "I will, and I hope you're here by my side and not far away," I mumbled the last part.
He nods at me and turn his back to leave, I watched him walked away and smiled, I hope someday, everything will be alright, so that we can be together.
I sighed before walking to my way.
I saw Bon seating on the same spot while Lexine is on my chair a while ago, I look at them they look so serious.
I ran towards them when I saw Lexine crying, "Hey, what's wrong?" I hurriedly asked, I look at Bon whose just calm and looking at Brianna.
"Bon? What happened?" I asked confusingly.
I tapped Lexine's back as she sob, "You can't just tell me that he loves when he left me so damn b-broken," Lexine muttered as she sob.
I sighed, it's Vein again.
"You're crying again over him," I whispered to Lexine.
Lexine looks at me with her doleful eyes, "I hate it, Anica. I hate him but I love him so much and I'm so tired of being like this, I'm so tired of loving him,"
I moved my gaze away, "It takes time, Lexine. Don't force yourself to move-on," I muttered to her.
"She just need to accept the fact that Vein loves her in the way she can't imagine," Bon said and stood up.
Lexine glared at him, "f**k you, Bon! Stop saying that he loves me! It's f*****g bullshit!" Lexine exclaimed as she punched Bon chest and cried.
Bon sighed and hugged her, "Shh, I'm sorry, Brianna," Bon said as he hushed her.
We waited for Lexine to calm, she fell asleep so Bon have to carry her.
"Let just stay in Helena's unit, Lexine needs to rest," I said to him.
He nods at me, "I'm sorry,"
I furrowed my brow to him, "For what?"
"She lost her control because of me," he murmured as he looks at her.
I smiled at him, "It's fine, just be careful next time, she's still sensitive when it comes to Vein."
Helena's scent soothed my nose as I opened the door, her unit was neat and clean, everything is organize.
"Just put her on the sofa," I told to Bon, he's wandering the place to. The sofa is big enough for two to three person.
I was admiring Helena's condo when one of the door suddenly open, it reveal Helena with her baggage.
"Oh, you're gonna stay here?" Helena asked, she looks at Lexine and shook her head.
"Is she okay?"
"Yup, just a little argument,"
She nods at me, "I'm gonna leave," she walked towards me and kissed my cheeks.
"Take care," I told her.
Her gaze turns to Bon, "Treat your bruises," Helena said emphatically to him.
Bon clenched his jaw, "Why? Do you care now?" it sounds sarcastic.
"Concern citizen," Helena said and shrugged.
Someone knocked at the door so Helena grab her luggage, "It's time to go," she said.
"You said you're gonna leave at midnight," Bon said with furrowed brow.
"It's a sudden change of schedule," she replied plainly and head outside.
"Where's your other luggage?" A man voice echoed, I tried to look at it but the door is covering the man, he's talking to Helena.
I tried to take a glimpse but I really can't see it.
Helena was talking to the man, I can't hear what they were talking about.
I stood up straight when the man entered the unit, I blinked for how many times to make sure that I'm hallucinating, it's Donovan!
"What the hell, Donovan!" Helena said in frustration.
"Where's your other—"
"I already put everything in my luggage, freak,"
Donovan looks at Helena intently, Donovan didn't acknowledge our presence and went to Helena's room.
Helena exhaled sharply and followed Donovan, what's happening?
I look at Bon and he's now frowning as he stares at the room where Donovan and Helena went in.
"What's going on?" he asked emphatically.
I shrugged, "I don't know too,"
Donovan went out and looks at me, I thought he's going to say something but he just walked out.
I look at Helena when she got out in her room, she looks calm but annoyed.
"That brute," she muttered.
"What was that?" I asked.
She shook her head, "He just doesn't want me to comeback here, you know, I just slew her girlfriend,"
I laughed at what she said, "Belva is nice, you should being a b***h to her," I told her but she just smirked.
"I'll go now," she said and went out.
That girl.
"Stubborn ass," Bon whispered but I heard it.
I chortled at him, "She's Helena," we shared a knowing look and laughed.
Bon sat on the ground and lean on the sofa so I did the same thing, he looks like he's in a deep thought.
"You know you can tell me your problem, right?"
He glanced at me, "What?" he asked innocently.
I strike his arm, "I know you, you seems off, don't deny it,"
He smiled at me and patted my head, "I'm fine,"
I pushed his hand away and glared at him, "Stop giving me that kind of smile, Bon, it's not funny,"
He sighed and rested his head on the sofa, "I just miss my sister," he mumbled.
I look at him with my shocked face, "You have a sister?"
"Yes, a little sister but she hates me," he said and smiled bitterly.
I shrugged to reduce my shockness, I've known Bon for a years and I didn't know that he has a sister.
"Why? Why does she hates you?" I asked in a very confused manner.
"It just because. I love her so much, I love her eyes, her innocent face, her bubble and positive attitude but everything changed since she found out the truth, and I saw how it broke her... I want to embrace her but I can't... I want to be their for my baby sister but she wouldn't let me, and I understand... but it hurts,"
My lips parted as I saw Bon's tears in his cheeks, he tried to wipe it but it keeps on streaming on his face, he's hurt. I can feel the pain in his word.
"Bon..." I whispered.
He closed his eyes, "I'm fine, I just miss her, I just miss her so much, my baby, my baby sister is already grown up," his voice cracked as he said it.
I look away and sighed, "Maybe she misses you too,"
Bon chortled, but it sounds so gloomy, "I hope so, I want her to miss me and call me, telling me that she needs her brother to comfort her cause she's hurt... that she needs her brother's embrace... that she needs me...but I'm hoping for something impossible... she wouldn't call me, I know she wouldn't,"
He looks at me and smiled, "I'm so proud of her, I hope someday she'll be proud of me, too, I h-hope she'll be there when I g-graduate as a Summa c*m Laude because that's our dream, I h-hope she'll hug me and say 'Congrats, Brother, we did it," Bon covered his with his hand and cried harder, I tapped his back as my tears fell down.
I can feel his pain, the way he delivered it was too painful.
"Maybe she'll gonna do that, maybe someday..." I muttered.
I let him cried and all I did was to tapped his back to give him some comfort.
He looks at me after he wiped his tears, "Damn vicious, darkness has been served, but to the people with the purest heart,"

In this world, choosing in the dilemma of choices was even harder to live on the dilemma of life.
