Serena held my hand tightly as we walked together towards Sebastian’s car, he opened the back door and we slid in together. Sebastian then calmly slid into the drivers seat and started our journey. It was deafeningly silent and unable to contain my curiosity any longer I looked between them, “where are we going?”.
Serena looked at me with a sad expression, “we are going to the pack house”. “The what?” I replied with my obvious confusion. “Oh goddess, she really knows nothing doesn’t she?” Sebastian snidely added. “Nothing about what?” I again questioned, now annoyed to be the only one in the dark. Serena took a deep breath before trying to explain, “This is going to be a lot of information and I’m so sorry you had to find out this way.......... Werewolves. They’re real. I am one, Sebastian is one and you are one.”. She carefully watched me with concern but I sat unmoving as she continued “we are on our way to the pack house, where the Alpha and higher level pack members live”, before she could continue I interjected “what’s an Alpha?”. At this Sebastian again interjected “oh for f**k sake, she really knows nothing”. I glared at him and could see him taken aback as he then sighed before explaining “the Alpha is like the boss or king, but more domineering and much more intimidating”. I tried to talk again, to ask more but nothing would come out. A soothing voice entered my mind telling me to close my eyes and breathe. It reminded me how much I trusted Serena, that she would never lie to me and that everything was going to be okay.
Taking another long deep breath I felt the car come to a stop. My eyes flashed open to see a building I couldn’t even imagine existed. It made Sebastian’s house look like a dolls house, it’s size alone was overwhelming. As I looked closer I saw it’s unmistakable beauty, the care that had gone into the stone, the time that had been taken and it somehow calmed me. I opened the car door and headed towards the house, needing to see it closer. I ran my fingers along the massive front door, looking closely at the beautiful carvings. It had wolves and moons just like the fountain except it also had an extra carving, two crowns in the centre.
I felt Serena’s hand again intertwine with mine as she whispered “it’s time”. She led me through the giant doors, following Sebastian into a beautiful room. It had the amazing scent of rose and vanilla, which I inhaled deeply as I looked around the room taking in the beautiful artwork and architecture. I was captivated by a painting of two wolves under the full moon when I felt eyes on me. My eyes searched the room for its source, stopping suddenly when I saw him there, those emerald eyes piercing through me as a smirk came across his lips.
He was looking intoxicatingly, wearing a simple black button down shirt, black pants and no shoes, highlighting his beautiful olive skin and emerald eyes. He was surrounded by a group of seriously looking men, but had now pushed them aside and started towards us. His hair was messily styled but through all his beauty he looked tired. “Finally” he said not removing his gaze from mine. “You are dismissed.” looking around he roughly added “NOW!”. Serena’s hand untangled from mine as she went to walk away, I grabbed her arm and went to walk with her but she slowly eased me off “he wants to talk to you, I will be right through here if you need me”. I felt his gaze on me as I turned towards him. “Hello beautiful, I missed you”.
“Come” he said offering his hand. I stood unmoving as all my unanswered questions crowded my mind, is he one too? If I’m one does that mean mum is too? And if so why wouldn’t she tell me? “Did you not hear me? Come.” he ordered as a curious yet stern look crept over his tired face. Bringing my eyes up to meet his stern gaze my brow furrowed as I replied bluntly “no”. I begun to question my decision as his face turned from serious to outright anger the second the word left my lips. I looked away and then he was suddenly flush against me in a mere of second. “And who are you to say no to me?” he whispered so close to my ear I could feel his hot breath. I know he was angry and I should be apologising or at least trying to appease him right now, if not for politeness than I should feel intimidated by his body towering over mine. But something or someone told me to stand strong. It was the little voice in my head again, although this time it was more clear as if she was right next to me. She encouraged “you are not below him, you are his equal and he should be treating us so”. I looked up into his eyes standing a little taller, mustering all of my confidence as I replied “and who are you to speak down to me?”.
He let out a small scoff stepping back as a smile took over his face. It was beautiful and I couldn’t help but miss his presence and yearn to feel his warmth. Unconsciously I closed the space between us and placed my hands on his chest. He looked down at me, confused but not unhappy about what was happening. I begun staring at his plush pink lips, remembering our embrace last time we met, wishing it to happen again. The small voice then said “his ours, all ours”.
And with this I gathered his shirt in my hands and pulled him down to me, planting a soft kiss on his luscious lips. Sparks of electricity shot through me, making me shiver. When I went to lean back I felt his hands snake around me holding me in place before he passionately deepened out kiss. I instinctively wrapped my arms around his neck as his hands crept lower, picking me up into his arms. My legs wrapped around him as we continued our embrace. He then started walking and I wondered where we were going. And as if a dam suddenly burst I realised what was happening. I pushed away from him unwrapping my arms and legs finding my feet again on the floor.
“What are you doing?” Seth questioned.
“I don’t know what I was thinking, I’m so sorry”. I shyly replied, too nervous to look up.
“I mean why did you push me away”
“Ummmmm ...... because I don’t know you”
“Yes you do sweetheart, I’m your mate”.
