Strange dreams danced around inside Allie’s head. Dreams of hologram-hidden aliens, a replica cruise ship from her past, and a future where vampires enjoyed those bygone luxuries.
Consciousness slowly intruded on those dreams and her eyes fluttered open. She found herself staring up at an unfamiliar ceiling. This wasn’t her bedroom, or even Kansas.
Allie sat up and met the smiling eyes of her new friend, Bina. Her heart both fell and leapt. It hadn’t been a dream, but she wasn’t alone in this strange reality. She was, however, not quite as accompanied as she expected.
“You’re rather a brief sleeper,” Bina teased as a smile danced on her lips. “You’ve hardly been out more than half an hour.”
