“Drifter!” Allie screamed as she scrambled to her feet and rushed toward the side.
A hand caught hers and jerked her back. She spun around to find it was Jeremiah who held her. Her heart skipped a beat when she noticed a little bit of blue liquid dribble out of the corner of his mouth. She didn’t need three guesses to learn that Jeremiah’s blood was that color.
“Not that way, Allie,” he whispered, and his voice made chills run down her spine. “You have another use.”
