17 Allie did what any sensible person would have done and let loose a horrible scream. The intruder and she toppled to the floor and tangled about one another before her opponent scrambled to their feet and made for the door. “Stop!” Drifter shouted as he raced after the figure. The figure was silhouetted against the deck lights for only a moment, but Allie could see it was a short man. He had a balding head and wore a plain jacket. The man slammed the door shut behind him and there was a distinct click as the lock was set. Drifter shoved his own key into the hole and pushed the door open before he hurried out onto the deck.
