Chapter TenJuly 2 11:00 a.m. Emma watched Christopher as he sat on the floor, legs folded under him, reading “The Big Book of Tell Me Why.” It was made for a child with his hungry curiosity about everything; he loved to pull out obscure facts about animals and start a sentence with “Did you know that…” Did you know that hummingbirds flap their wings ten to fifteen times every second?” or “Did you know that they fly at 49 miles per hour?” “I had no idea,” Emma replied with honest interest. “Yeah,” he said, returning his attention to studying the book that held such fascination and looking for the next remarkable fact to report.
