In front of the luxurious black car, an even more intriguing car pulled up behind the men in suits and went completely silent.
Alanna and the security guards were truly stunned by the four men in dark suits. They just looked at the old man and thought they had something in common.
On the contrary, the old man was as surprised as they were.
No one had alerted the company to the arrival of these men. Who were these men?
One of the men, dressed in a black suit, approached the passenger seat of the second car and opened the door. Alanna immediately saw a pair of expensive, shiny, designer shoes coming out of the car.
Soon after, a familiar male figure, dressed in a dull grey suit, stepped out of the car.
The man possessed a powerful aura. That could only be Nick, the man who had helped Alanna taunt her ex-fiancé and former best friend.
Nick was like royalty. He had such a piercing and powerful gaze that even the security guards quickly became frightened.
They stepped back and lowered their gaze in respect.
—What do you want with her, sir?— Nick said coldly to the old man.
Those words sounded like a bolt of lightning straight into the old man's ear, who froze and stammered for a moment.
Nick ignored him and bent down to pick up Alanna's heel from the floor. He gave a slight sigh and walked over to Alanna...
—Honey, you can't be barefoot— hinted Nick as he bent down and said Alanna's bare foot to place her heel in front of everyone.
After that touching scene, Alanna was stunned, it was illogical what was happening. Nick, for his part, kept a faint smile on his face as he watched her.
Then he stood up again and placed his hands on hers.
—Are you all right, did this man hurt you?—
Alanna didn't know how to be any more surprised than she had been just seconds before.
It was actually very strange to her. She didn't think she'd ever meet Nick again. She'd always imagined that night at the banquet he'd only wanted to help her get revenge on her ex-fiancé.
But, contrary to that, Nick had come back to rescue her. But why?
At that moment, a couple of men in dark blue suits appeared and stood behind the elderly man she had been waiting for.
—Who are you, sir? What are you doing here?— asked the old man, not knowing Nick Smith.
—You bring your guards here without knowing who I am? If I ever see you or anyone else bothering my wife again, I will have to act accordingly. I hope it doesn't happen again. OK?— said Nick with a cold, disturbing look on his face.
—Your wife is a b***h ....— the old man suddenly said between whispers and a smirk.
After those words, no more than 2 seconds passed when Nick raised his hand and slapped the old man hard, making him fall quickly to the ground.
The guards and everyone who witnessed this scene froze. No one wanted to intervene. they stood there, stone-faced, staring in fear.
Nick was really strong!
The old man had fallen to the ground and felt the heat of the blood coming from inside his mouth. He was dizzy, he couldn't even get up from the ground.
—I want someone to bring the manager of this company here!— Nick added with a loud shout.
Everyone heard Nick's order, but no one dared to move and look for the manager. They were afraid of losing their jobs.
—...No one is going to look for the manager? Fine. I'll do it myself.— With those cold words, Nick flashed a faint smile and took out his phone.
He dialed Camille's number and asked her to come down to the entrance of the building and then simply hung up.
Alanna thought she had heard wrong. Apparently, her former best friend, Camille, was in charge of the KG Organization. How had she not heard about it before?
It all made sense now. That explained why the interviewer had rejected her designs.
Camille was evil. It was obvious that she wouldn't rest until she made Alanna a f*****g unhappy person. Camille had not only betrayed Alanna's trust and rejected her from the company, but now she had sent an old man to humiliate her in front of everyone.
Alanna didn't even want to imagine what would have happened if Nick hadn't arrived. She might even have been physically harmed.
The more she thought about it, the redder her eyes got. She was so angry at that moment.
After a few minutes, the front door of the building opens and Camille steps out with a blank, intrigued look on her face. She sees Nick and Alanna standing in front of him.
Her face immediately darkens.
—I didn't know you were coming to visit me today, come in, come in...— said Camille with surprise.
Nick didn't even make a move with his legs. He stood still, keeping his gaze cold and fixed on Camille.
When he saw Camille turn his gaze, he decided to pay attention.
—Why don't you answer me?— asked Camille sarcastically.
As soon as she finished speaking, a slight sneer appeared on Nick's face.
—You know perfectly well what happened here,— he said haughtily.
She knew perfectly well what could have happened, though she would never admit it.
—I... I don't know what you're talking about. I've been in my office all morning. I can't be watching every inch of the company,— said Camille, feigning ignorance of what was going on around her.
—That shows how ineffective you are as a manager of this company. You shouldn't have that job. I guess you are just an apprentice after all. From now on you'll be in the design support department, OK?—
For Camille, those were the worst words she had ever heard in her life. The design department was the worst of all departments.
—Really?...— Camille said with surprise.
Despite her denial, Camille couldn't grumble at Nick's order, he could easily have thrown her out of the company. She wanted to be an artist and that was the only way to achieve it.
Camille thought a bit and sighed, lowering her head with an embarrassed and passive look on her face.
—Okay, I'll go to the design department. Maybe you're right, I have to improve my skills to run the company at some point. I agree with you brother— Camille added with a pseudo-sincere tone.
Hearing that, Nick scoffed inwardly. it was exactly what he wanted, to humiliate Camille's malice.
He then turned his gaze to Alanna and his face calmed down.
—Honey, what are you doing here, by the way? asked Nick with intrigue.
Since he had seen Alanna, his voice no longer sounded cold and cutting, unlike that one, it was soft and sweet. they definitely sounded like two husbands.
—I...had come for a job interview...— Alanna said calmly.
—An interview? Honey, you're not interviewing to get in here...— added Nick with a slight smile on his face.
Alanna not only found those words adorable, but his look, his smile, his perfect face and the way he grimaced with his lips when he spoke. He was the perfect man!
—What do you mean? I don't understand,— said Alanna in confusion.
—You're my wife, from now on you'll be in charge of that company. It's your company— Hinted Nick seriously.
Camille and everyone in the room gasped. they couldn't believe the announcement. to Camille, this seemed like a total joke. she looked at Nick in surprise.
His look was as skeptical as his thoughts. Her brother had given Alanna the top job, now she would be her boss!
In reality, Camille had become the boss of the company because her father had given her that honour after her engagement to Lucas?
But now, because of her bad attitude and her desire to humiliate Alanna, she had lost her position. Nick had every right to do that and more.
He was definitely doing everything he could to make Camille pay for everything she had done wrong.
However, Alanna had also been very surprised by Nick's announcement. He had given her the top job in the company, without even consulting her.
Now she owned the company. It was f*****g unreal. It was a dream she could never have imagined.
Even though Nick wasn't her husband, why was he defending her so much then?
He must have done it all out of hatred for his sister, nothing else could explain it.
—But, I don't...— Alanna tried to say before she was interrupted.
—Dear, I can't take over the company at the moment, that's why I know you'll be perfect to take over. I have full confidence in you— said Nick.
Alanna was living the dream of most young women in the city, except that she had no idea what was really going on.
