Percy
I hoped that it wouldn't come to this.
I hoped that, by some miracle, she would agree to go with me willingly, but at the same time I knew that chances for that were slim.
Medaline was never one to just roll over and take the punches that were being thrown at her.
I lifted her lifeless body and laid it on the couch next to us.
Locking her hands behind her back would be a waste of time, so I decided against it. It would just be a waste of time and I had none. Emanuel hasn't noticed that I am here and I need to get her into my territory without him noticing.
I reached to find my keys in my back pocket as usual, but I remembered that my car had been left at the border.
Shit.
I will take one of hers then.
Running to the garage, I checked through the cars that were in there. There were two and neither belonged to her.
Okay, so I can take one of her goons' car.
I opted for the more mandarin one. It was an old four-door Audi. It will be less noticeable, then the Porsch the other one is driving.
As I had no time to find the keys, I had to hotvire it. f**k, it has been a long time since I did this.
And as it was my lucky day, I got it right on my second try.
I left one of the doors open, so I could easily sit with her and rushed to get her. To my luck, she was still out.
Quickly I picked her up, trying to move her too much. Hoping that it will keep her knocked out for longer.
Carrying her felt right. Her weight against my chest felt so right.
Fuck.
This isn't the time to get sentimental and think about all the sappy stuff. I can save that for later, when we will be safe in my pack territory.
I sat her in the passenger seat and strapped her in. It would be safer if she woke up. I have a better visual on her like this.
After closing her door, I rushed to the other side. Happy to find the remote for the garage door, I backed out of the garage and started the long journey home.
The most stressful part will be getting out of Emanuel's territory.
I drove in the dark city that was still full of life. Strangely, it was more lively than in the day, but I guess the underworld should be most alive at night when all crazy and dark people crawl out of their caves.
I felt happy and almost relieved when I was at the border, but then I saw Emanuel himself standing at the only path out of town.
I stopped the car and climbed out.
I knew that this was unavoidable, but I still hoped.
"Evening, Emanuel."
"Evening, Percy. Were you just about to leave without saying goodbye?"
"Sorry, I was in a rush to get back with my mate, home."
He looked over my shoulder with a curious look on his face.
"With your unconscious mate."
"She is just tired and sleeping."
"Oh no, you definitely knocked her out. That's what I would have done. She isn't really the one to agree to shit."
His gaze returned to me, but his eyes were no longer carefree and friendly. There was a lot of darkness and danger in them. Only now can you tell that he is one of the most feared alpha's, that kept the council on their toes and out of his territory.
There is a lot of talk about why they agreed to stay away, but it was all too uncertain for me to believe in.
One day I will ask him, but not tonight.
"You are here because of her new hobby?"
"Yes. She draws the council's attention, but they still don't know who is really behind the murders. I am trying to get in front of s**t, before it hits the fan."
He looked at me, then at her again.
"I tried talking with her after the first three, but she ignored me. I tried using my alpha power, but it had no effect on her. She was risking to much and in no time the council would start asking questions that I couldn't hide her here anymore."
"I will protect her. Do not worry."
"You better do that. If she returns to me like last time, then there will definitely be war and I will be the one cutting your head off."
"Don't get hard on the idea of killing me, Emanuel. This time it's different. We are both different and I will make sure that she is safe, even if I will have to keep her locked up, until s**t goes down."
He looked at me, not sure if he could trust me, but there wasn't much choice he had.
I know that the council tied the murders to his pack territory for sure, but there is no real evidence of it. So me taking Medaline away is happening at a great time.
"Take care of her."
I looked at him and nodded.
When I returned to the car, I was happy to see that she was still asleep. Great, so now I only have to cross one other pack territory and we will be home.
The drive was easy enough. As soon as we crossed Emanuel's border, we changed our car for one of mine, so it was really easy to cross other borders. Being on the council had its perks.
The drive was going great, we were almost at the edge of my territory, when I felt a knife against my neck.
Two time tonight.
I am getting rusty.
"Good morning, sleeping beauty."
I should have patted her down, before putting her in the car.
That was my mistake.
But I could blame the drug. It should have knocked her out for almost a day, but my mate beat it in a few hours.
"Where are we?"
