Chapter One
Lilya's Pov,
I woke up to the sound of howling. My heart was racing as the echoes of the wolves’ howls filled my ears. I sat up, panting, as the memories of my past life flooded back to me. I couldn’t shake the feeling that I was reliving my life all over again.
I shook my head, trying to clear my mind. I knew I had to get out of bed and start my day. I stood up, my bare feet padding against the cold stone floor of my room. I walked over to the window and looked out at the forest surrounding the castle.
I took a deep breath, feeling the crisp morning air fill my lungs. The scent of pine and earth filled my nose, and for a moment, I felt at peace.
My thoughts drifted back to my past life. I remembered the pain and the heartbreak that came with it. I remembered the mistakes I made and the things I wished I could change.
But now, I had a chance to make things right. A chance to prevent the tragic ending that occurred before.
I turned away from the window and walked to the mirror. I looked at my reflection, taking in my long, black hair and my sharp green eyes. I had always felt like an outsider, even among my own kind.
I took a deep breath and spoke to myself in a soft voice. “My name is Lilya. I am a werewolf reborn, and I will make things right.”
I dressed quickly and made my way to the training grounds. The sun had just begun to rise, casting a warm glow across the forest. I could hear the sounds of training in the distance, and I quickened my pace.
As I approached the clearing, I could see the other werewolves sparring with each other. Their bodies shifted and moved with fluidity, and I couldn’t help but feel envious of their skill.
I joined in, feeling my muscles stretch as I shifted into my wolf form. My senses sharpened, and I felt the power coursing through my veins.
I sparred with my fellow werewolves, my mind focused on the task at hand. I wanted to be the best, to prove to myself that I was worthy of my new life.
As the sun began to rise higher in the sky, we all shifted back into our human forms and gathered around our leader. He spoke of the ancient prophecy that hinted at my role in reshaping the werewolf world.
I listened intently, feeling a sense of purpose wash over me. I knew that this was my chance to make things right.
As the training session ended and the others dispersed, I stayed behind. I needed time to think and reflect on what had been said.
I walked to the edge of the clearing and sat down on a fallen tree trunk. I closed my eyes and breathed deeply, feeling the warmth of the sun on my skin.
But despite the calmness around me, I couldn’t shake the feeling of dread that settled in my stomach. I knew that the road ahead of me was filled with challenges and obstacles.
I sat on the fallen tree trunk, my thoughts swirling like a tempest within me. The weight of my past lives bore down on my shoulders, a heavy burden that I carried alone. The howls of the wolves still echoed in my ears, a haunting reminder of the tragedies I had witnessed.
A voice interrupted my reverie, pulling me back to the present. “Lilya, are you alright?” It was Ava, my loyal friend and fellow werewolf, concern etched on her face.
I offered her a faint smile, attempting to quell the storm brewing inside me. “I’m fine, Ava. Just lost in thought.”
She took a seat beside me, her presence a comforting presence amidst the turmoil. “You know,” she said gently, “it’s natural to feel overwhelmed. We’ve been given a chance to rewrite our destinies, but it won’t be easy.”
I nodded, my eyes fixed on the ground. “I know, Ava. But I can’t shake this feeling that there’s something more at play, something we haven’t yet uncovered.”
Ava tilted her head, curiosity sparking in her eyes. “What do you mean?”
“I mean,” I began, my voice tinged with determination, “there’s a force behind these repeated events, a puppet master orchestrating our lives. I can’t help but feel that there are secrets waiting to be unraveled.”
Ava’s expression shifted from curiosity to concern. “Lilya, be careful. Uncovering the truth may come at a great cost.”
I met her gaze, my resolve unwavering. “I know, Ava. But I can’t stand idly by, waiting for tragedy to strike again. I have to find answers, not only for myself but for all those who have suffered.”
Silence enveloped us as the weight of my words settled between us. The wind rustled the leaves, whispering secrets that danced on the edge of my consciousness.
Ava placed a hand on my shoulder, a gesture of support. “Whatever lies ahead, Lilya, know that I will stand by your side. We’re in this together.”
I nodded gratefully, gratitude swelling within me for the unwavering loyalty of my friend. “Thank you, Ava. Your friendship means more to me than words can express.”
As we sat there, the sun climbed higher in the sky, casting a golden glow upon the clearing. The path ahead was uncertain, fraught with challenges and unforeseen twists. But I was determined to forge my own destiny, to break free from the shackles of the past and shape a future of redemption.
With renewed determination, I stood up from the fallen tree trunk, my eyes fixed on the horizon. “Come, Ava. Let’s continue our journey. There’s much to discover, and I won’t rest until I’ve unraveled the mysteries that bind us.”
Ava rose to her feet, a glimmer of excitement in her eyes. “Lead the way, Lilya. We’ll face whatever comes together.”
And with that, we set off, embarking on a path that would test our strength, unravel secrets, and redefine the fate of werewolves. The echoes of howling wolves faded into the distance as we ventured into the unknown, ready to confront the enigma that awaited us.
