Chapter 5 We slept late and had cuddled up close sometime during the night. As if we’d never been apart. He was the big spoon with one muscled hairy leg thrown over mine, and his palm blazing against my stomach. His warm breath tickled my neck and I never wanted to wake up from this dream. I was safe. Back where I belonged. He stirred behind me and hummed, and I wanted to stop time. To press pause and silence the world and ignore everything outside our little bubble. Even my brain cooperated for a while and didn’t ask any of the difficult questions. It let me lay there, breathing in tempo with him, surrounded by his familiar scent of bergamot and sleep.
