I came out with the guard for a walk. Making sure I led him to the cafe to find Nate, I strolled right to the destination, and just like Nate had promised, he was already there.
“Hey! I can take it from here,” he waved his hand at the guard, who bowed to him and left.
“What took you so long? I thought you weren’t coming,” Nate looked amazingly fresh and cheerful in the white shirt and blue jeans.
“The councilors came to my house to interview my kids,” I rolled my eyes and got in the car as he opened the door for me.
“Oh no! I hate those times,” he scoffed, stepping into the driver's side and starting the engine.
“Do you know about it?” I foolishly asked an alpha that question.
