Without uttering a single word to Kage, I moved to the living room, settling onto the couch, anticipating his next move. "Kids!" After a few minutes of intense scrutiny, Kage ascended the stairs to bring my children downstairs. My strength had dwindled after the chaotic events that unfolded earlier. Kage reappeared, cradling Imogen, while Elijah trailed behind in silence. A wave of disappointment washed over me regarding my kids.
"Why did you misbehave with Mommy?" he questioned Elijah, who lounged on his lap peacefully, not bickering or arguing. I felt let down, but expecting too much from literal toddlers wasn't the wisest move either.
Imogen sat beside Kage on the couch, her head down mirroring Elijah's posture.
