After hearing what Mindy told Daddy, he simply instructed us to go to our rooms. It really bothered me that Daddy didn't admonish her for lying. Instead, he believed her and took her word for it. As we headed to our bedrooms, I overheard Kage asking Mindy to shower us.
"Elijah!" I called out to him, but he walked cluelessly toward his room, completely ignoring me.
"Psst!" I yelled, sprinting in his direction, but Mindy appeared and grabbed my arm, pulling me away from Elijah's bedroom.
"Don't bother your brother," she said, eyeing me, which made me pout.
"I just want to check on him," I requested, but she only shook her head and pointed to my bedroom.
"I don't want to hear you complain again. Haven't you done enough with your lies?" she hissed, fully convinced of her own stor
