The Lightwood Pack

915 Words
Nia Moon trembled in the corner of her small bedroom, the stench of despair clinging to her like a shroud. Her heart raced as her parents, the gamma and gamma female of the Lightwood pack, berated her with venomous words. "You're a disgrace, Nia!" her mother spat, her voice like a lash. "A pathetic, weakling human!" She had only wanted to leave the pack now that she was eighteen, but her parents were not letting her go. Nia's father raised his hand, and she flinched, expecting the familiar sting of his palm. But instead, he turned away, disgust etched on his face like a scar. "You're no daughter of mine, filth!" The door slammed shut, leaving Nia shaken and alone. She knew she had to escape, but the pack lands stretched like a prison around her. Her parents had made sure she had nowhere to go and no one to turn to. Memories of her childhood flooded her mind like a dark tide. Carter, the alpha's son, had made her life a living hell, commanding the other pack members to torment her. Her parents had stood by, silent and complicit, as she was bullied and belittled. The pack's mantra echoed in her mind: "Only male genes are strong. Only males can lead." Carter’s the typical American Alpha. Taller than most males, he is white with blonde hair and blue eyes. In contrast to Nia, a short, curvy African American woman with light brown eyes and black hair that she made into locs, Nia's hands trembled as she packed a small bag, her mind racing with desperation. She knew she had to flee, but where could she go? The pack's reach was long; their influence was suffocating. A knock at the door made her jump, her heart leaping into her throat. Carter's sly grin appeared in the doorway, his eyes gleaming with a sinister intensity. "Happy birthday, Nia," he crooned, his voice dripping with malice. "You're finally mine." Nia's blood ran cold, her very soul recoiling in horror. She knew she was trapped, caught in a nightmare from which she might never awaken. Suddenly, the realization was clear. Even though she did not have a wolf, she felt the connection. The mate bond people always talked about was the fairytale that made you see your other half as the only one in the world meant for them. She could feel the bond, but the mate bond was a lie. There were no feelings of love, only a deep hatred that grew daily. Nia Moon's heart raced as Carter's blue eyes locked onto her brown ones, his gaze burning with a sinister intensity. She knew she was in grave danger, trapped in her small bedroom with no escape. "You're mine, Nia," Carter growled, his voice dripping with malice. "My mate. And you'll pay for trying to deny me." Nia's mind reeled as Carter's words struck her like a blow. She didn't have her wolf yet; she didn't have the strength or power to fight back. And Carter knew it. With a cruel smile, he summoned a pack member, a girl named Sarah, and dragged her into the room. Nia's horror grew as Carter's intentions became clear. "You'll feel the pain of betrayal, Nia," he sneered. "The pain of our bond being broken." As Carter and Sarah kissed, Nia felt a searing agony rip through her chest, like her heart was being torn apart. The mate bond, barely formed, screamed in protest as Carter pulled his pants down, bent Sarah between the entranceway, and f****d her, forcing Nia to feel every brutal moment. Nia’s parents left the house, leaving Nia to her own fate, no longer caring about what happened to their own daughter. She never knew why they treated her the way they did, as if she asked to be on this earth. Nia's screams were drowned out by the sound of her own despair, her mind shattered by the cruelty of the pack she once called family. Carter's laughter echoed through the room, his eyes gleaming with sadistic pleasure as Nia's world shattered around her. The pain of the mate bond's betrayal was like nothing she had ever felt before—a burning, searing agony that seemed to rip her very soul apart. As the torture continued, Nia's mind retreated to a dark place, a place where she thought she couldn't feel anything anymore. But the pain always found her, echoing through her like a scream that wouldn't end. When Carter finally released Sarah, Nia collapsed to the floor, her body shaking and her mind reeling. She knew she had to escape, but her legs wouldn't move, and her body was too broken to respond. As she lay there, she felt a presence over her, and Carter's face twisted in a snarl. "You'll never leave me, Nia," he spat. "You'll never be free." And with that, everything went black. When Nia came, she was in a dark, damp cellar, the smell of mold and decay filling her nostrils. She was alone, but she knew she wouldn't be for long. Carter would come for her, and she knew she had to be ready. With a newfound determination, Nia began to crawl, her body screaming in protest as she dragged herself across the cold, damp floor. She had to escape; she had to find a way out of this living nightmare. And so she crawled, her heart pounding in her chest, her mind focused on one thing: freedom.
