Jeremy’s P.O.V.
My wolf Lako lifted his nose as a soft breeze blew by us, blowing by both known and unknown scents of wolves that had stepped around our pack grounds today. Alpha Archer, Gamma Jason, Beta Derek, Adam -who was Sami’s brother-, Mason -who was a hybrid living in another pack, but who had come over to help us-, and myself, were all standing at the borders of our pack grounds. We were literally inches away from stepping out of our pack lands, trying to pick up Sami’s scent in order to track her down and bring her back home to where she belonged. Her mate, Jason, who was also the Gamma of our pack, was losing his Goddamn mind every second his mate wasn’t safely back on pack grounds and resting in his arms safely. But the hybrid who had come over here to help us, and who was also the one who had been training Sami with her magical powers ever since she moved over to the Grey pack, had just told us that Sami was close by, that she was here… somewhere... and yet, we couldn’t see her anywhere, nor find her.
“I’ll take the West side of the pack borders. If we all split up, hopefully, someone will find something soon enough.” I stated, seeing how Alpha Archer turned to face me and nodded in agreement.
“I will take the north side, Beta you take the East. Jason, you stay right here in case she runs straight into this part of the pack.” He commanded his Gamma, to which we all nodded and started to walk across our pack borders, trying to find Sami as fast as we could and hopefully she would be safe and still in good health. The hybrid who had come to help us might be a scary motherfucker, but he was a very powerful one as well. When he would say that Sami was here somewhere, I knew he was talking the truth, no doubt in my mind. Now, it was just a matter of us finding her and bringing her back home. Only thing was that the constant smell of daisies, which was messing up my wolf’s ability to smell, made it impossible for me to pick up Sami at all.
I marched my way down the path next to a treeline that had come there over time, from guards who constantly patrolled these parts of the pack grounds. I was being accompanied by other warriors of our pack as well, some still in their human form like myself, others in their wolf form if that made them feel safer or stronger. The Alpha had sent them here to help us look, in order to find Sami even faster. No matter the help that we could get here, we would need it. Finding one girl across our wide lands, was like searching for a freaking needle in a Goddamn haystack. It could take hours to find her, if not days. I let my wolf Tako use his nose once again, trying to pick up any scents other than the daisies that I did pick up again and again, and which were sticking out much more than other scents. So, using my nose wasn’t any use really, our pack had also just been attacked by another pack filled with rogues and enemies. There were so many unknown scents and stenches in the air today, it was making my f*****g head spin and making my wolf f*****g antsy along with it. I couldn’t wait until it would rain hard, and literally wash all the stench out of our pack lands again, hopefully for good.
There was a howl somewhere in the distance towards the north of the pack grounds. The sound bounced off of the rocks of the high mountains that were the focal point of our Grey pack, swirling around like a tornado as they made it back into my ears. Grabbing my attention.
“What is going on over there?” I called out to some other warriors who were standing closest to me.
“I think I found one!” Another warrior called who was standing further down the path, his voice sounding far in the distance.
“It’s dead… or maybe dying, I think?” He called out after, not sounding too sure of himself really. Which made me roll my f*****g eyes.
“Then just f*****g kill it!” I shouted back at the warrior in question, thinking back about those fuckers who had attacked us earlier today. If that wolf wasn’t one of our own, that meant that it was from the enemy, the Black Blood pack. And it only deserved a slow and painful death after the stunt they had pulled on our pack today.
I heard some more wolves mumble and even argue silently with each other as if they weren’t really sure about what to do next, while my command had been pretty f*****g clear as day. So I growled and I marched over towards them, with every intention of doing the deed myself, if these fuckers were too chicken s**t to do it themselves.
“I said, kill it!” I yelled at the men as I made my way toward them, the scent of daisies growing stronger with every step that I took in their direction, making me wonder if those flowers were growing somewhere close by to where we were standing. I had lived here all of my life and yet, I couldn’t remember ever smelling this scent so detailed, so strongly. And when I finally made it to them, I saw how three of them were looming over a small frame lying on the dirt ground of the forest.
“I don’t think it was one of the wolves that attacked us, Jeremy. She looks more like a victim to me.” Elijah, the youngest warrior of the group spoke to me, as he looked up and locked eyes with me.
“Jeremy, I really think she needs medical help, man.” He added as his voice softened, making me step closer to look at the creature lying on the ground. Gasping, once I truly saw who was lying on the ground.
A girl
She’s the prettiest thing I have ever seen in my Goddamn life…
God f**k me…
Where the hell did she even come from?
And I swallowed, looking up at the other men who were all looking at me with a million questions in their eyes, as if I had all the Goddamn answers for them, which… I honestly didn’t. I was just as surprised as all of them. Knocked on my ass with the beauty of the girl who was lying unconscious on the ground right in front of me.
“Let’s take her to Dr. Ross, so he can examine her properly,” I spoke, referring to our pack doctor as I nodded mostly to myself. The scent of daisies was overwhelming me at that particular point. And before my mind had registered it, my body was already bending down, trying to turn the small female onto her back since she was still lying on her side, making me able to look into her eyes, but they remained closed as soon as I saw her full face. She looked exhausted, and yet she took my f*****g breath away with her beauty. Caramel-colored skin that looked smooth and soft and f*****g perfect like silk since it held zero imperfections. Dark brows, and long black lashes that were resting on her cheeks. A cute little button nose and plump lips the color of a f*****g peach. It took me a Goddamn second to regain my bearings, and man the f**k up, so I could become my old, usual self again.
“Jeremy, I got her! I found Sami!” Out of nowhere, another voice sounded through the air. And I looked to my right, where another warrior was standing a couple of feet further away from us, waving his arms in the air to grab my attention. Even though my body couldn't move towards him. It was as if I was f*****g anchored to the ground. Not able to leave this girl on the ground alone.
“OK, grab them both and let’s go. I am mind linking Jason and the Alpha that we have them. We need to move, now!” I shouted, seeing how the warriors bent down and picked up the girl on the ground. An unfamiliar feeling of jealousy soared through my body in one split second, as their hands touched the unconscious creature in front of me. And so, I stepped forward, scooping my hands under the small body before anyone else had the f*****g chance to do the same.
Fuckers need to hold their hands to themselves if they want to keep them attached to their f*****g bodies...
dipshits!
“You guys take care of Sami. Jason will have our heads if she gets hurt.” I spoke and lied at the same time, nodding in the direction of the other warrior that had found Sami. Because f*****g hell, nobody was touching this cute little thing but me. At least until I got her to the Doc’s office. I guess I didn't have any choice but to have the pack Doctor touch her.
Shit... does he really have to touch her?
both my wolf Lako and I did not really love that idea... But I guess we didn't really have a choice in that department. Not if we ever wanted to see this girl open her eyes and... I don't know... live? And so, I took her and I started to run towards the pack doctor's house, as fast as I f*****g could.
It was f*****g hard to run through the woods and in the direction of Dr. Ross’ house, holding on to a body that seemed as if it was in serious need of medical help. I wanted to run as fast as I possibly could, and yet I tried my best not to move her too much. Because I was scared to death that I would hurt her by moving too much or shaking her too rapidly. Her breathing wasn’t even as it should be, I had spotted bruises on her body that made me want to growl and rip someone’s throat out using my wolf’s claws. And worst of all… I had no clue why I was even feeling the way I was feeling right now…
What the f**k is wrong with you, Jer?
And in response, my wolf whimpered, making me frown even deeper.
*Lako, boy. Is there something you aren't telling me here?*
and yet, he only kept whimpering, as if he hadn't a damn clue himself what the hell was wrong with us.
*Dr Ross, I have Sami and an unknown she-wolf coming your way. They were both unconscious.* I mind linked our pack doctor, letting him know to prepare for my arrival and both the girls.
*OK Jeremy, what do we have? Broken bones? Lacerations? Do they need extra blood? How far are you from my home?* Doc mind linked me back in his full medical tone which didn't hold any emotions on his end. And so I tried to do the same, looking down at this cutie in my arms without running head first smack into a damn tree. Because we were still deep in the woods, the chances of me doing it were actually quite high, and the pretty thing in my arms was f*****g distracting, to say the least.
*Uhm... she is breathing weirdly, she has bruises as far as I can see, she’s skinny, too skinny I think… I can make it to your house in about four minutes tops.* I examined the gorgeous girl with caramel skin and wavy black hair, her head bobbing with every step that I took closer to Dr Ross’ home.
fuck…
What if she is breathing so funny because she broke a rib?
What if that broken rib has punctured her longue?
What if she is bleeding out without me knowing about it?
and worst of all…
Why do I sound so f*****g worried about all of these thoughts?
*OK Jeremy, I’ll be waiting for you.* The Doc answered me, and by the time I made it to his house, all sorts of medical equipment were already set in place for him to start working and doing his job. Saving this cutie. At least, that's what I hoped for. Because I f*****g wanted to know her name. And I needed to figure out why the hell she made me feel this... weird.
