First Heat

Maya finished the breakfast dishes as her parents lugged their suitcases down the stairs. “Honey, don’t forget we will be back Monday morning. We will have our phones the whole time, and Uncle Sam is just a phone call away if you need anything.” Maya hugged her dad as he finished and gave a little laugh, “Oh, Dad. It’s just a weekend. Don’t worry about me. You and Mom have fun!” She hugged her mom, who patiently awaited her husband at the foot of the stairs. “We know Maya, but we just can’t help ourselves. Now, I will text you when we get to our hotel. Try not to burn the house down or destroy it with wild parties.” Maya just laughed and waved them into the car. She watched them until they were no longer visible on the long driveway, then went to her room to study. On the way, she could hear Josh, her brother’s best friend, typing on his computer. Josh didn’t have a good home life and spent most of his time with her brother, Mark. Josh quickly became part of their family and eventually had his own room. Mark and Josh were nineteen years old and sophomores at a small college a couple of hours away. While Mark was still enjoying most of his off days on campus, Josh always came home for visits. He never missed a weekend. His latest girlfriend, Cathy, had spent Thursday night at the house with him but left early this morning to visit her parents. She was human but seemed nice enough. The Lopez family liked her, even if she wasn’t his mate, and she had lasted longer than all the others. Josh had brought a few girls home, but none had lasted more than a few months. It was a little strange that he never made any trips to visit her family, but no one acknowledged it. Maya plopped onto her bed and tried to immerse herself in Early American History. Her note-taking slowly diminished as she began sweating. Dropping her pen, she turned on her fan and checked the Home Kit app. It was 74 degrees in the house. Why did she feel sticky? She shrugged, pulled off her tee, and sat in her black leggings and light blue sports bra. Grabbing her book, she tried to focus on studying. Her mind kept wandering away from Christopher Columbus and Native Americans as her n*****s and clit started to tingle. Maya jumped up from her bed and went into the bathroom. She looked at herself in the mirror and let out a small shriek. “s**t! This can’t possibly be happening now! It’s only been three months since my birthday.” She stripped down and turned on a cold shower, fussing with herself. She wasn’t sure how to satisfy her heat on her own. "That’s not something they tell you in s*x ed! They just magically assume everyone will have a fated or chosen mate or what?" Maya stood under the running water and pounded the shower wall with her fist. She was angry. She was rejected through no fault of her own, and now she was going through her first heat alone! Wolves can go through their heat at any time after finding their mate, but it takes a year on average. Snapping out of her thoughts, she turned the shower off and wrapped herself in a towel. She hurried into her room before Josh could stick his head out the door. Josh was sitting at his desk working on an English assignment when his phone rang. He glanced at the screen to see if it was Cathy. “Hey, babe. Did you make it to your mom's? Good, have fun." As he hung up a smell hit him that made his balls tighten. It was slightly musky and purely feminine. He drew in a breath, and his d**k went rock hard. “What the f**k?” It was more of a statement than a question. He laid his phone down but didn’t move from his seat as he heard Maya leave the bathroom across the hall. He should not be able to smell her. He shook all thoughts of Maya, her scent, and the possibility of her being in heat from his head. He was lucky to be a part of the Lopez family, and he damn sure wasn't going to let his horny mind wander in that direction. Not now. Not ever. He had spent years in this house, and she was always the kid sister that followed them around. Once he and Mark had gotten into high school, they didn't spend much time with her, and he hadn't noticed her as a woman. Now, his mind was trying to show him a side of Maya he wasn't ready to accept. He didn't want to notice how her hair brushed her hips when she walked or how the curve of her ass would fit perfectly in his hands. "Dude, get it together," he scolded himself as he tried once again to focus on his work. He shoved his long hair away from his eyes and turned his mind back to his assignment. He wanted to get this paper done this weekend. Unlike Mark, the worst procrastinator, he hated finishing things at the last minute. Once this paper was done, he could relax for the next week. Cathy was a social butterfly and kept him busy during the week, so he wanted to take advantage of not having any distractions. With that thought, it didn't take long before he was once again immersed in his work.
