At John's house that evening, after they were done with dinner, Leah was with the baby in the room while Elsie did the dishes in the kitchen. John walked into the kitchen, stood behind Elsie, fixing his gaze on her and she was unable to notice his presence because she had her headphones on and was singing and dancing while doing what she was doing.
As she turned to see her brother watching her, she was frightened because she was not expecting him to be there. "Christ!" she exclaimed as she removed the headphones. "You scared me...."
